The ones that were made by Dragun were balanced out with allied troops 12" figures, and Dragun made it clear that making villians in a line is no different than making Stormtroopers and Darth Vader in Star Wars. And they were right. As long as it's kept in context that these are villians, then it's acceptable to me personally. Dragun also made soldiers for both sides of the US civil war. That Himmler and Hitler figure even label them as "war criminals of the 20th century." There was no glorification or praise at all.
I agree. That's how I see these. Although Nazis are and were terrible, there's no getting around it, you would have to make them at some point. The only difference, what makes these so despicable in some people's eyes is that it IS so recent in history and that we had a direct experience of it.
Actually, it's quite a bit different when compared to toy companies making Darth Vader or Stormtrooper action figures, because the characters in Star Wars are all fictional. They've never existed and don't have survivors still alive today who personally witnessed their crimes and lost family members because of those atrocities.

There've been people who've made an issue of the use of stormtroopers and other Imperial personnel in SW. They were incorrect in thinking that Lucas was making light of the situation. It's just that this is the perfect symbol and example of what fascism and tyranny look like. There was virtually no choice but to copy the aesthetic. There are writers and experts who get into the action, excitement, and adventure side of the world wars without losing sight of what it truly meant to be there.

That's why these are nowhere near the worst action figure line out there. These are actually pretty good. If anything, these are some of the best enemy figures you can get.

I agree with you, Junkman. That is the worst action figure line ever made. I just hoped that they made different characters of that line, instead of those infamous names during that time. They should have made a Desert Fox, General Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, 12 inch action figure. They should have made also a 3.75 inch figures of German Wehrmacht forces, together with other Allied armies (i.e. US, British and other allied forces), just like the Raiders of the Lost Ark German soldiers.

Seriously? This was a GREAT line of figures. First off--these were NOT EVER made 'for kids,' nor were bought by kids, nor sold where kids could find them. These were fragile and very expensive. That said... Anyone sensible understands that toy collectors want VILLAINS as much as heroes. Three best Star Wars figures? Luke (hero), Darth Vader (villain), Boba Fett (villain). The existence and purchase of G.I.Joe's villains in NO WAY means the buyers support the villain's ideology or any of that. This is the kind of smear that spreads ignorance and lies. C'mon, Junkman, if you can't explain this to the masses, who will?
I've got a couple of Afrika Corps 12 inch figures to go with my 12 inch Indiana Jones figure. They look great together, especially when Indy's in a punching "bad guys" pose!

Nope. The worst action figure ever made was this eighties deep sea diver action figure that came out. I had it unfortunately. It really tore me up too because it was so sad and boring. He was about eight inches tall and had a solid body. The arms and legs didn't move. You could turn his head left and right but that was the only articulation he had. Removable helmet sure. The thing was the packaging really looked cool. But open it up and nothing. He came with about thirty five pieces of equipment including knifes and spears and harpoons and several other things. Problem was he had no way to even hold any of these things. His hands were made into fists and didn't even have openings in his fists to hold anything. I don't know what this action figure was called but he was in stores back in the glory days of action figures. Had to be the worst. Was a tease !!! All the things he came with and they were all worthless as he was.

In the past toys made them for the 1/6 historical figure market. They also made some Japanese examples. If you’re not into 1/6 then perhaps it’s shocking but it’s really not.

I’m really on the fence about these. On the one hand, I’m thinking that they could’ve been successfully marketed to avid history buffs, like those Revolutionary War figures you mentioned. I’m really on the fence about these. On the one hand, I’m thinking that they could’ve been successfully marketed to avid history buffs, like those Revolutionary War figures you mentioned. On the other hand, I’m thinking of how I would feel as a Black American if these were figures of Nathan Bedford Forrest and other famous Klansmen.
These figs were marketed as historical collectible figures not toys. Love the junkMan but disagree totally on this one
