- Today, on the 82nd anniversary of the birth of the greatest Jon Lord, I want to share with you one of the best and at the same time the most difficult songs in terms of keyboard parts that Jon Lord recorded in this piece. In the middle of the piece there is a part that is almost impossible to play, which many times during the exercise raised a question mark - didn't Jon record this part in slow motion in order for the sound engineer adjusting the speed of the tape to speed it up to the right tempo? One thing is for sure-Jon Lord recorded this cosmic passage at a very fast tempo so well that the listener is shocked!

@@journeyintothebible thank you. Yes its possible...you have to start practice from very slow tempo like 1/3 of original. Have to take care of equal notes and when you will feel thats its fine and you fingers moves smoothly and nicely you can speed up:) I practiced 2 weeks almost every day this solo and that fast part something about 80 hours at all
Jon Lord was clearly a devoted Bach scholar. The passage is influenced by Baroque organ improvisational technique, something that was central to the organist's ability as a musician. Not only that, you nailed it. Nice job!

Bravo, respect. I have never seen an organist dare to tackle ‘Rat Bat Blue’. It’s a masterpiece by Jon Lord, with a hellish passage to perform. Bravo!!!! 👌👍
thank you. yes these passages needs a few weeks to be ready...and need to play it every day:) but its possible to play and record it on the light short keys.

@@tomaszzien1799 Thank you Tomasz for answering Me back. Like all of your videos. I met Jon Lord in 1996, in Pittsburgh PA. Truly a nice and down to earth Man. I think that I once read that He said that super fast part was made faster with some Studio trickery, lol. Though I have heard him play that fast on live recordings. Your playing of that part in real time, is truly impressive. I have another Jon Lord song suggestion. "Belgian Tom's Hat Trick" by Whitesnake. Short instrumental but really Rocks! Cheers.

I don't think Jon EVER 1/2 speeded or slowed down a track. I can tell you this, and you may have noticed, there are 2 maybe 3 organ parts on Hush and Highway Star. I don't think I ever heard Jon play a solo live like his recordings.

Nunca había visto algo igual,, el solo de órgano dónde alude al revoloteo de un murciélago es extraordinario, muestra la creatividad y virtuosismo del gran Jon Lord. Para mi gusto, Deep Purple, siempre a sido el mejor grupo en la historia de la música, fueron virtuosos para ejecutar sus instrumentos y para componer música. He analizado decenas de grupos sabbath, Zeppelin, beatles, who, etc, etc, y estoy convencido de que éstos grupos sin demeritar su trabajo por supuesto,,, estos grupos no se igualan a Deep Purple. La muestra está con ése gran tecladista que nos muestra como tocaba Jon Lord. Mi admiración y respeto para ese gran tecladista qué nos deleitó con la forma como tocaba Jon Lord
Totalmente de acuerdo con usted. Siempre pensé que no habría otro grupo de Rock que superase a estos. Desde finales de los 70 comencé a comprar/grabar todos sus discos. También escuché a otras bandas que eran más conocidas, famosas, etc. Ninguna me convenció en absoluto, salvo quizás Queen y algo Pink Floyd (fíjese la indiscutible categoría de las dos bandas citadas). Y por supuesto, otras en estilos parecidos, o algo más diferentes. El poco tiempo que estuve escuchando a los Zeps, también examinando varios de sus discos, por aquella época (78-80), quedé decepcionado. No necesité escucharles mucho más. Y los Sabbath... sí, buenos... me gustaba mucho el "Heaven and Hell" (Dio), y el "Born Again" (Gillan), y alguna cosa suelta con el Osbourne... (Gillan y Dio: familia Purple) Pero estaban muy escorados hacia cierta temática ...y a mí no me seduce mucho (nada) el sa.ta.nismo. Sólo me interesa la música. En lo que eran y son maestros estos Deep Purple. Y toda la familia: Whitesnake, Rainbow, Gillan band, y algún otro.
Tan sólo el trabajo en solitario de Blackmore (genio) es capaz de igualar toda la carrera de Purple. Capaz de componer música de lo más salvaje (Rising, Long Live) hasta una música melódica bellísima (todo B's Night, Stone Cold, Street of Dreams, Rainbow Eyes...), por no hablar de su virtuosismo con la guitarra (ok, no es Andrés Segovia, "ni falta que hace", con todo respeto). Jon Lord es otro fenomenal organista, que además se ponía a componer música clásica. Y una bellísima persona. Paice era brutal con los tambores. Y casi con 80 años sigue pegándoles bien fuerte. Glover, productor y bajista. Les vi hace unos días (junio 2024) aquí en Madrid, y ese sonido del bajo no se lo había oído en otros conciertos anteriores. Sonaron de maravilla, con ese Don Airey que es el sustituto perfecto para Mr. Lord, y ese fenomenal guitarrista, Simon McBride, que en mi opinión hace mucho mejor trabajo que el bueno de Morse. El sonido conjunto era impresionante, con sólo la excepción del pobre Gillan, que ya con casi 80 años no puede manejar esos tonos. Pero se le quiere y respeta.
Toda esa calidad musical yo no la he observado nunca en los grupos con los que se les compara, y siempre recibían más fama y honores.
Quizás el tiempo pondrá todo en su sitio (y quizás ya lo está haciendo).
