+Chris Maxwell That's because they wanted to change the direction they were heading, moron. Like Blind Guardian. Both in their early days were atmospheric death metal and power metal respectively. Now they add symphony in to "enhance" the experience. Quote Overkill:"Use Your Head".
Septicflesh is one of the greatest Symphonic death metal band. The whole Codex Omega album was awesome. You should definitely check out their other albums. Specially the song Anubis in their Communion album. That's legendary!
Septic Flesh - Promethius is also amazing! All their booklet, covers and art connected to the albums are also drawn by the vocalist. They are super sinister and cool! And their costumes are actually stage gear they use regularily. Its based the human body f.ex singer has muscle fibre anatomy, while one of them is "rotting"
Try some of Rotting Christ songs gingerbeard! They are too from Greece like Septicflesh, and are black/melodic black metal, a lot of they lyrics are in greek/ancient greek and more ancient languages (latin, hebrew and so on).Try Rotting Christ - Kata ton daimona eautou, Rotting Christ - Athanati Este, Rotting Christ - Χ Ξ Σ (666). You are great btw. \m/ \m/
Glad you enjoyed the song. I really like SepticFlesh, they have a great blend of orchestration, choirs and heavy blasts. The outfits in the video are their usual stage attire. The vocalist/bassist is also an artist under the name (Seth Siro Anton), so he has his own artistic flair to the video. They are usually political and often touch on the topic of religion, god etc. The anti-government feel is what I get as well. As much as I like his art, I haven't quite placed the intention of the video either, and I'm a long time fan LOL You should totally check out some of their other work.
Comprehension of the lyrics and the content in the video makes for a more complete appreciation behind this musical aesthetic and endeavor: "In a world controlled by fire 🔥, psychotic preachers thrive." Many concepts come to mind: Please view the " Logos governing the world" and "Noble Soul governed by fire" by the "weeping philosopher" Heraclitus and the "Eye of Sauron" myth in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy by Tolkien. "They use the waves to bind us:" Possible reference to Electro-Magnetic Radiance as "He who rules the waves, rules the world," 🌎- Mahan. "They use the screens to blind us:" Flagrant reference to Media Manipulation, in my uneducated opinion (perhaps a different riddle from the intent of song author). And so on. As I purview it, I think of Neo in the Matrix after taking the red pill in the movie, only to find himself connected to a series of hoses connected behind his head, as an aspect of our "headlessness" comes from ALL our thoughts controlled and psychic energy derived from the plentiful source of our being as the higher powers and/or Apex Predators over the matrix manipulate our psychic energy accordingly, "taking and giving" as they only see as fit and truly necessary. Being far greater in aptitude, acumen, acuity, abilities, agility, and ascendancy. Purest hegemony over an ocean of worlds, through our perception. "Every mind is a world. And in some minds, two worlds." - Spanish Adage.
Thanks for the shoutout man! I've also reviewed the album on my second channel. I uploaded it today. The album was released on the 1st of September already so it's been out for a week now. It is a really good album I must say and for a first time experience with this band, it was great. And you're right about the vocals. The vocalist sounds like a mix between the vocalists of Behemoth, Vader, and Whitechapel which is really dope. By the way, they do wear those costumes on stage. The lead vocalist's outfit is the coolest. Also this video reminded me of Texhnolyze as well with regards to the colour palette. But, it's more Matrix than anything.
You and I thought very alike when it came to this, listening to it with you was my first time as well, i have to say there whole vibe was just badass, i agree highly with you about the vocals, some bands vocals like that really just blare out the music, making it a bit hard to appreciate the instrumentals in them, but these guys really made those vocals just pitch perfect for there style, without blaring out the badass instrumentals, the video production was smooth, there music is spot on, they know what there doing and there doing it right, I as well must sink my teeth into this new tasty metal. These guys deserve the metal head salute! -throws the horns-
I discovered this band the same day I heard this review.. Spot on with the review.. I've bought the album & look forward to listening to it in my car on my way to work..
Their orchestral death metal has been classy for years. I can not wait to see them in concert next Thursday. Greece has a very good group with Septic Flesh, Rotting Christ and Nightfall
These guys are fucking amazing, truly talented individuals for the genre. It's not too heavy trying to be blunt, not too soft.. the orchestral pieces embed the band's differential sound.
yep Septicflesh and Rotting Christ are 2 of my favorite bands of late. They both have that symphonic style without sounding cheesy instead it comes off epic and emotional i absolutely love it
From Septic Flesh you should try "Anubis", "Persepolis", and "The Vampire from Nazareth", and "The eldest Cosmonaut". Definitelly check out Rotting Christ. Don't have second thoughts because of their name. Listen to "In Yumen /Xibalba", "666/ΧΞΣ", "Ze Nigmar", "Fgmenth thy gift", "Lex talionis", and their cover of Aphrodite's Child "The Four Hoursemen". They have a vast discography. I'm just suggesting the few first things that came to my head. By the way, just subbed.👍Loved your analysis.
Check out some Epic/Ambient Black. Not for video, because they don't have official video clips and you will have nothing to show, just one picture. ) Relax late afternoon, close your eyes, and listen next: Summoning - Old Mornings Dawn Caladan Brood - Book of the Fallen Emyn Muil - Túrin Son of Húrin Nazgul - Impetus Quartae Lunae Novae Elffor - Son Of The Shades Gallowbraid - Stone of Remembrance (+folk) Eldamar - Spirit Of The North Lustre - Green Worlds Mesarthim - Pillars Sojourner - Homeward Barak Tor - Silent Passages And Hidden Realms
The people who I show this song usually don't know this genre. When they hear the words, they will get sick because of cognitive dissonance. Rough, screaming vocals singing about little fairies and flowers. )
When Septicflesh releases a video(and they better) for Dark Art, ill spam your videos to check it out. But as far as recommending something from their catalog, I'd highly recommend the album The Great Mass. Communion seems to be largely their most critically acclaimed record by most critics and fans alike, but The Great Mass is an incredible album and I think if you like the sound here(which is kind of a blend of their new and past work), then I'm sure you'll dig that album.
Yup, I essentially had the reaction to first hearing them back in '96.. blown away. And I dare say many bands have lifted more than a thing or two from them..
I'm a little stunned. I've seen a small handful of your reaction vids and guaranteed, they're fun to watch. And you listen to good music. So, again.... I'm baffled that you've made it this far, 2017 for fuck's sake, without knowing about SF. Startling. Forgivable of course, but startling.
Perfect metal balance , Titan was was first Septic flesh album I heard. Like everyone I immediately had to hear everything they've done and it's all good. I love Septic Flesh , awesome just awesome band.
Yeah I ran across this band a month ago. Heard a track on the metal satellite channel. Looked them up on UA-cam and was blown away. I'm a old thrash ,death metal ,DeathCore, mathcore kinda guy. I more less thought they would be just another symphonic black metal type band man was I wrong. Codex Omega is fucking Brutal!
Awesome, was hoping you'd react to this. Album is killer too, you'll dig it. Check out Carach Angren - 'Charles Francis Coghlan' for a black metal version of this almost... cinematic, orchestral, epic, twists and turns and really badass visuals.
Invent, Animate: White Wolf, Celestial Floods, or Darkbloom (fuck it all of them 😂) Varials: Stigmata, Empire of Dirt(ft. Bryan Garris from Knocked Loose), or Anything to Numb Knocked Loose: Oblivions Peak, Billy No Mates, or Counting Worms Kublai Khan: The Hammer Gideon: Cursed (Ft. Bryan Garris from Knocked Loose again lol) Do them bros!
Do a reaction video on "Rhapsody" aka "Rhapsody of Fire" the best power metal band IMO :D "Emerald Sword" "Dawn of Victory" "Unholy Warcry" are songs that you should def. check out
Hey man would love to see a reaction to calabrese - Voices of the dead or Dead dont rise. It would be a good change of pace to some of the recent music reaction videos. They are a horror punk band from Arizona and have been around for years. They are criminally underrated. Appreciate what you do man, found a ton of bands through you!
I dont know if you have tried with mexican bands, but i think if you hear "Especimen" you won't be disappointed. Try with the song "Es la maldad" Well, hope you like it.!!
I'm not generally a fan of reaction vids, but ive watched about 50 of yours and have now subscribed! Keep it up! Also check out REMOTE TUMOUR SEEKER by ARCHSPIRE
Now that youve been exposed to a lot of the djent scene, it is time to step one foot forward and enter the world of THALL. Please listen to Vildhjarta - Benblast. If youre looking for interesting unique music you will not be disappointed whatsoever. Vildhjarta are the gods of THALL, a genre they themselves spawned much how Meshuggah spawned Djent. Vildhjarta - Benblast. As Shia would say, just do it!
Septic Flesh is so fucking cool! strong as shit! please listen from the album Communion til Codex Omega! You will forever be in debt once you hear those albums
Symphonic death metal legends from Greece
old-school extreme metal band at its best!
Amazing to think they're Greek.
StygianTraveler141 They are definitely symphonic death metal. Have you ever heard an actual atmospheric death metal band?
+Chris Maxwell Septicflesh is one, you idiot. And there is no "symphonic" death metal. Quit reading from wikipedia for a change, will ya?
+Chris Maxwell That's because they wanted to change the direction they were heading, moron. Like Blind Guardian. Both in their early days were atmospheric death metal and power metal respectively. Now they add symphony in to "enhance" the experience. Quote Overkill:"Use Your Head".

Not sure if their costumes were inspired by the armor from the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula ( 1992 ) or not, but the color black suits very well.
The blood is the life!
+dhouchin83 And Christ I defy!
My sworn enemy... birth of a new creed!
+arxekakos Is this my reward for serving God's own war?!
The Greek Gods are back, brace urselfs folks!

Totally agree
Holy shit, I just recommended him Rotting Christ lmao
NON SERVIAM!! \m/
Viktor Iliev I recommend Aeternatus from RC
+Navi Comment straight to the public comment box so he sees it, dude.
I recommend Xibalba or 666 as an introduction.
Septicflesh are gods.
Septicflesh, Behemoth and pre-Heritage Opeth are the unholy trinity of death metal.
Whoa! What a comment! I can't believe I found such a great opinion. Especially calling out "pre-herritage Opeth"
You sir, have my seal of cool
Finally you checked them out.
He was unaware?!
I am from Greece I have met them they are really good people and I happy to hear their music
my favorite band
Check out Be'lakor.
SEPTICFLESH 🤘
I listen Septicflesh since their beginning
You have to check older tracks too, you'll enjoy them for sure
Ophidian Wheel is their best album! \m/
Mystic places of dawn was unreal. I've never listened to anything like it from that era.
Sounds so awesome
Glad you enjoyed the song. I really like SepticFlesh, they have a great blend of orchestration, choirs and heavy blasts. The outfits in the video are their usual stage attire. Their latest album is the best thing i heard in ages... quality!

Perfect blend of heavily distorted guitars, low, guttural vocals, blast beats and some double- kick drumming, and beautiful orchestra elements.
Some clean vocals are possible.
My first time too. Love the music and style but growling gets old. Great concept video.
You gotta check out the new Black Dahlia Murder single, Nightbringers. Melodeath legends.
Eric Breau my favorite melodic death metal band, they are so consistent and brutal

See them live, that is an experience.
