ok i can buy one of these 2010 BMW x3 next week for 2k. they said it started then it didnt and they think its the battery cable. this looks like a cheap fix! I might be in for a great deal :) !!
Actually lot easier get at than my E60 535d but same principle 👍🏻😉I replaced mine with genuine bmw strap worked fine after around 6 starts (same ) as before ? Won’t crank won’t start. 🤔
hi there!! great vid. i have a 2006 318i e90. i had the starter replaced about a week ago and battery test showed the battery was perfect, now it has trouble starting, is the just one ground ? i have been told there may be 2? also any ideas as to where the second ground is . thanks and keep up the great vids :)
My 2011 e90 won’t crank or make any sound at all . All lights/power comes on but no start. I replace the starter not even 2 months ago so I don’t think that’s the issue. Any advice ?can this cable be the issue?
That's not the engine grounding. The engine grounding strap is attached to the starter and the frame passenger side. That's the radio anti-interference strap
@@DNANDROID hmm ill have to check the roll of braid cable if its by gauge, ive only seen the sizes we have are 1/8-2" braid. I guess i could use the big 2 inch and fold/roll it to fit in 1/0 gauge terminal. Thanks for quick reply 👍🏼

I have two straps but it appears the one on the driver's side is severely fray'ed. My car will start or crank and the starter itself is fine. Will just having one broken cause the car to not start? I'm waiting for a replacement cable now but wondering if that will fix the issue. Everything else appears to work correctly.
@@DNANDROID How do you get to the ground strap on the driver's side? I removed the front tire and the metal frame is blocking my view to the bolt. I tried from up top under the hood and there are metal bars blocking my access. What is the best way to get to these bolts?
My 06 e90 been slow starting for a while. Specially when cold. Has new battery and alternator. Last night when i went yo start it, it cranked very slow but did not start. Had to jump start. Could it be those ground cables?
how do you diagnose whether it's a ground/battery or starter issue?? I just had my start replaced (BMW X1), the issue was that it would just click and not start...prior to that it was slow to start, sometimes had to hit it twice.....multiple clicks in rapid succesion would eventually get it going. So I'm assuming it was a starter solenoid issue and not ground or battery, hence replacing the starter, but now I'm second guessing it.... so if it's a ground or battery issue, you just won't get any clicks at all then I'm assuming because no current flow?
@@MrCopeland757if it’s still doing it use jumped cables attach one end to a bolt on strut tower and the other side to a part of the engine and try to start. If it works better it’s the ground strap if not then possibly started solenoid
@@Luki55662 sorry for the late response but for the jumper cables I just hooked up the negative end to the engine and the other side of the negative to the strut tower(chassis) and it creates a temporary ground

You ever resolve the issue?
like it and have you got a video on a 2e7c fault code not starting
How many engine grounds straps are there? I'm doubling it with 0 guage wire
What size are the nuts?

M47 engine
