A terrific documentary on S. Africa. We are getting ready for our tour of S. Africa and Wild Safari parks, so this is invaluable in getting us tuned in. Thanks for the post.
You guys are amazing! Who are you, lot? I'm just mad at myself for discovering this channel today, the 15th of October, 2022. I'm now fan, a huge one! ❤
Yes looking at these videos make me realize how brautiful this country is, and I amlooking forward to my visit there at the endof this March2017. I had always thought that South Africa look like those that they feature in National Geogrphic, people very poor and sick and they live in mud huts and other makeshift dwellings. I am so happy that it isn't so desperate. but beautiful thriving and so progressive.
We have a beautiful country with good history, Anglo-Zulu war, Anglo-Boer war and Zulu-Boer war. another ethnic group that fought with the British is the Ndebele ethnic group. Zulu people also had a good relationship with Boers during the times of king Dinuzulu.
This footage must have been taken many years back for 3 reasons...no litter clogging the streets, no traffic to speak of (no taxi's) plus no loiterers/beggars ..it looks so clean.
@@christopherwalker5017 there are some messy sections of JHB and Durban, but for the most part SA does a good job of keeping tidy. Glad they nixed the fracking; next step is massive solar & wind.
"Egoli" means "Place of Gold", as Johannesburg is popularly called. "Gauteng" is the province it's in. Other than that, awesome video. Grew up in all these parts. Very special to me.
There is no peace in South Africa now. In 20 years everything you are seeing on this video will be destroyed or gone completely and there will be shanty towns and famine
@@leemlomo5469 have you not had riots and mass looting and destruction recently in S.A.? Before the riots there was out of control crime and murders and ranchers being murdered and their ranches taken over to downfall of food and cattle producers.

@@leemlomo5469 they looted the white house? 😂😂😂 you are trying to compare last year's BLM riots and looting and burning down federal courthouses and police stations not to mention the black people they killed who were trying to protect their businesses or community across the country over a felon that died of drug overdose while being arrested to Americans protesting a fraud election? You're part of the problem.
These are really enjoyable docs. Just a pity the narrator couldn't be bothered to get the pronunciations of place names right. It's not that difficult - if you're not sure Ask a Saffer!
This is a really ignorant comment. There are many communities that suffered from neglect and underdevelopment under the old regime. New roads, bridges, hospitals, clinics have been built in and around these communities. Running water is also now available in many of these communities whereas in the past this was not the case. The building of infrastructure also attracted investors who have built shopping centers in and around these places. But you wouldn't know this if you have never been or lived in or been to these places.
Nel-spruit. As in Nel River. Not Nel's Pruit. And Mm-poo-ma-laan-gar. Not Oompa Loompa region 🤪🤣 Water buffalo are Asian. These are Cape Buffalo JHB is called Egoli, Not Gauteng. Gauteng is the province encompassing Pretoria, Vereeniging and JHB. I can't believe you left out a mention of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, the third largest in the world, and largest in the southern hemisphere! It's RIGHT THERE, in Soweto! And how difficult is it to say "Koi Khoi" (just like the fish)? Instead of making it into some kind of sequoia hybrid! Some egregious errors and mispronunciations here (even factoring in the foreign language - lots of the other words were pronounced reasonably well)
My first comment would be that the narrator get an education in pronouncing the names correctly. Would any Limey with so sophisticated an accent as his do so badly in that horrible French they all seem to effect? The editor or writer of the script is really really biased towards the "black"" side of our history. The world should remember that the black (mainly Xhosa) tribes arrived in this region at about the same time as the settlers, so there is no basis for the "rights"to any lands. Yes, there were atrocities inflicted, but by both sides...Sad that the Western Cape (ie Cape Town and environs) are omitted...
+John Jones ....historically speaking, the man who first called it so was Antonio de Saldanha, Portuguese explorer in 1503, Tafelberg is the name given by the Dutch that governed the Cape Colony for 143 years before the British took over, so calling it Tafelberg or Table mountain is as senseless as doing this comment. Beautiful scenery and it sad that the Boland, Kaastad, the whole Tuin roete and the Indian sea board isn't make part of this video..... probably because the narrator couldn't pronounce the lacl names... lekker man!
"no basis for the "rights"to any lands". What a nice way to justify genocide and slavery. Black Africans where there first, starting with the hominids that were the first homo sapiens sapiens, and 2 millions years ago the first Australopithecus....what the fuck with your racist indoctrination? "There were atrocities inflicted, but by both sides". The black Africans were defending themselves from the invaders, slavers and genocides. Once again, you conveniently twist history to justify the crimes of your people. Asshole.
I watched this video at least one time out of every week.....south Africa 🇿🇦 is so beautiful I wish to go there one day 🙂🙂🙂🙂🇯🇲
Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, S.A is always the best place to be in the world!
This is so well researched and presented, that it should be part of the curriculum in South African schools.

Nice but u left out three beautiful provinces?
This should be South Africa from above Part 2. There's a video where he covered those three Provinces along the coastline. Pretty great, I think.
The so called Maltese cross rock is not a cross. It's a fist. Like a giant emerging from underground.
Does anyone know the name of the song in (8:19)?
Can someone please help with the correct pronunciations...
Good grief - one of the big five just got expelled. Water buffaloes??

Yes he covered coastal provinces in part one KZN, Western Cape and Eastern Cape
Did I hear correctly? The Second World War between the British and the Boers? Um ... no .. that was the Boer War some forty odd years earlier!
All they seem to of built in the last 25 years are football stadiums...

Bloemfontein is the JUDICIAL CAPITAL of South Africa, Pretoria is the Administratice Capital. He's right!
It was the capital of the Boer Republic at one time. That's what he meant, but didn't elucidate very well.
Bloem,Cape&PTA are our capitals
