Comparing Apex Locators - Battling Root ZX II and Apex ID

A viewer asked me where his apex locator compares against the video that Dr. Ricucci talks about apex locator positioning. So, I cracked out the Apex ID and the Root ZXII and compared exactly where Dr. Ricucci aims his apex locator to stop and where it corresponds to on the Sybron Apex ID.

Could you do a comparison with the denjoy apex locator? I heard its like 100 bucks

I use it myself.Have compared it with E Pex Pro, Propex Pixi and Coxo C Root.It's measurements are precise....the only drawback is that there is e very slight,barely noticeable delay...barely. Other than that it was the best 150 dollars i ever spent, so it is recommended.If you can find it....buy it!!!

Moaz Maher. Great question. A subscriber wanted to know (relative to the root zx ii) where it lines up on his apex locator. It was a good question bc I used the apex locator before and never questioned where it took me - as compared to the gold standard.

So should we take 1mm short of apex as working length or is it done just to compare accuracy of various apex locators?
