The thing most people fail to understand is that in some hands, the opponent will indeed call from the button with a 5-6, thus making trips on this board. In this case, they have us crushed. That's ok. For each time that they have it, there will be like 5 other times where they don't. Basically, you lose one, you win 5.
What I sometimes fail to realise is that they rep a polarized range by barreling three times. Would they really barrel thrice with a 9? Pocket 10s? I don't think so. I think more often than not they'll show up with a bs JT or smth
That would mean that player isn't really bluffing as they have at least one decent card. This video is based on them having a crappy hand with them bluffing
Bet sizing important. If you are facing 2 pot sized bets on flop and turn, are you calling another on river if it means a sizeable portion of your stack? I sometimes call with AK in these situations and find out I'm against A-rag that hit their kicker.
for the first time I find your video wrong. Button regs tend to call against other regs with poket pairs. it makes much more sense to check raise consistently on the flop bluffing to have a set or a KK,QQ, AA than to passively call like loose passive fish’ do when they missed the flop and don't want to fold. as much as the opponents are aggrofish or maniac they are still betting something (a pocket pair, a mixed flush and straight draw which in this case still has more equity than an AK that missed the flop). passive play against these kinds of opponents is the worst thing possible. if the opponent tends to lead flop, turn and river, it is better to reserve this kind of exploitative play only if you have Ace Ace, or a set on the flop. The best play in this case is bet 75% on the pot flop and then check/fold turn and river, or check raise flop.
The link doesn;t show you the cheat sheets showign which hands to open in each position. It just gives you a pdf with links to books you can buy with this information in. Have I missed somethign Nathan?
Good question. Personally at lower stakes, I'm gonna get my stack in with something more than a bluff catcher. So many players at these stakes play Ace-rag.
by my own account playing those kinds of mid pairs is dangerous post flop if you dont hit a set. yes he could be betting to reach the set, but most of the time i played hands like that and observed players say checking pocet tens on a similar board, they just check and mostly check/fold if the board is wet. so betting here like you said makes no sense if the guy has those pocket pairs. you are at a massive disadvantage from other players who would have a strong range from mid/late position so like you said they must be bluffing.
I would I would I would chk on the turn and then if he makes a bet .so then I would call raise on that 5 ..so I stayed flop with small 5 I had ..so I would chk then raise my 5 like I had it .. Wouldn’t that be the best bet ?????? Please Please Please Let me know ?????
Not sure about this. Oftentimes, donkeys will have something to beat AK. Might not be much but doesn't have to be. Depends on the player and the situation.
regarding the turn, you ask the question "if you had a hand like pocket jacks why wouldn't you bet the flop" because you have to protect your checking range
while you should definitely protect your checking range, i dont think JJ is a good candidate to do so. On this very dry board, you can use AA, KK, and all sets to do so more effectively.
yes it does, that then would be a semi bluff as hes chasing a draw. so like he said he COULD have us beat but the whole time he was firing bets off and that would be for pot control and then value the river for the straight. but then again like i said hes basically bluffing so if the deuce didnt come, you have him by the balls most of the time
@@KazACWizard yes i comprehend the summary of the video, but in the last slide it was asked what is he repping and that was one of the many answers to that question. As we all can be betting our draws as you know. Which he had a gutter off the rip
Yes A3 does make sense to play this way but given that the chances of making runner runner straight(or flush) by the river are less than 5% it also makes sense to be calling because its the most profitable decision. As Nathan said, there will times you have egg on your face but more often than not the opponent will have nothing. The other thing to consider is “what does he/she think I have?”. After the flop AK is either way ahead or way behind and if the villain is aggressive he/she will still be wanting to semi bluff/bluff in the face of your checking from MP on the turn and river.
@rwfoxtrot yes I already had made it clear I understood the meaning of the video. I commented on that ^^ But i had to respond just cause your poker analysis was incorrect as its a gut shot from the flop not runner
So then on river I don’t care what he has sometimes it don’t matter who ur playing what they playing in there hand..( to me it’s what ur gonna play and how ) example is I’m gonna play my hand like I have2/5 so I’m gonna play it on flip all in to my 5 as.mind act like it . So I’m saying all I’m on river !!!! Most people will fold on that bet What he has it cared
Playing like this you will lose alot of money in long run. I know many players that call a raise pre with 4 5 suited. Your making assumptions they always have nothing.
This is an extremely bad example of a poker hand, and your explanation in general is incomplete. When you start your explanation, you just say they’re a Agro player on button call you. Ok. Did you raise with AK because yon didn’t say you did. And did the villain on the button just call. Because if he’s extremely aggressive, he would probably raise before the flop. so I’m about halfway into listening to this and realizing you didn’t say any of that so I can’t figure out his Betting style without that info. You can guess about anything you want and insert whatever you want but this was a bad exam you didn’t give enough information. Holy shit. The villain would have a pair on the river. No fish goes all in with nothing. If he bet like $100, then you would know he’s bluffing. I literally watched this happen last night. I’m not going to watch Nathan anymore. His advice is really bad.
How often do you catch them in a bluff? Also, here are the 5 easy poker strategies I recommend for beginners: ua-cam.com/video/Dw7pCbNOfEU/v-deo.html

Hey Man I love your trainnings. If I can afford coaching to take poker more seriously I will for sure use yours.
Bad reg on the button could easily have A9,T9s,89s,45s,56s
seems to be that u totaly lost the point of making the call...

What about the bet sizing? Would you also call 3 pot size bets against this aggro player?

What do you think about the bet sizes on each street
What can you do when you have KK and the SB calls a 4 bet with J7o and rivers a straight? Happens all the time... stacking me with 1 'bad beat'.

In online poker, the villain ALWAYS has the 5 or both 5's.
The one that will annoy everyone in this position is the the last card will have give him a pair of deuces 🤬
Or they had A3soooted and rivered a straight 😭😭😭
❤❤❤
"These players are everywhere"...and that's a good thing!
Bad reg shows K9o... well played. 🤦♂️

Not losing is a way of winning. Speculate like that and I'll take your money.
All speculation. You can't lose money with a nothing hand if you don't call.
false logic. Since they are IRRATIONAL and call with CRAP
