    What hands do you think are the most underrated? Also, I am calling out TOXIC poker players: ua-cam.com/video/m4Li-65imqw/v-deo.html

      The most underrated hand is the hand with which you can see the flop for one big blind or less. ANY hand can be a huge winner. The key is the flop and what the opponents are holding.
      See as many flops as you can see on the extreme cheap. Small blinds can oftentimes see a flop for half price. Any time you can see a flop for one big blind take that opportunity. If the betting comes around to you and it is only one big blind call and hope nobody raises after you no matter how crappy your hand. Who knows what the flop will be.
      Just don't try to force a win post flop with garbage or crap draws.

      Hand I like to play is JT, especially suited - the winniest hand in poker!
      One thing you touched on that I think is so, so important is playing in position. When I’m in position, my opening range is wider and I’m coming in for a raise. A lot of good things can happen when you have position.

      I liked the hands you picked. Although I'm not sure there are many decent players who aren't already playing most of them. Particularly the middle pairs & suited aces. One of the best points in this video IMO was you driving home the difference between trips & a set. I've always hated how so many players use the terms interchangeably when they are so different.

    Regarding 8-7 suited and baby pocket pairs players need to play them effectively BUT also be skilled enough to know when to get away from them. That is the challenge for most intermediate players. I am a long term documented profitable recreational / semi pro at small and mid stakes player - not as good as Nathan - and I find those hands challenging but yes can be profitable. Pocket 88 and QJ suited ABSOLUTELY great hands. Love your videos just wanted to point out 87 suited and baby pairs need skill and know when to proceed with caution.

    I have a hate/hate relationship with QJ. I named it "pocket kickers" because either card is always someone else's kicker. It's tough to get a good price to chase what's usually a gut shot. That's going to involve broadway cards on the board, making big hands and therefore big bets and bad math.

    My favourite hand is pocket 53r. (suited is not good, as I can draw a baby flush). I 3-bet/4-bet with it always! When flop comes 247, I am the king! I know nobody has anything than what they had pre flop. So, I C-bet heavily...then, if called, I shove Turn. Unless it is a card that completes my straight. If "A" hits the board, that's so sweet! Opponent must be holding A. If he does not, that means I DO!! In any case, I ram it heavily when I spot an A on board with this hand.
    Too bad I don't have this hand so often.

  • @ZakFromOhio
    @ZakFromOhio Рік тому +13

    The problem that I have playing A7s is that I have a hard time folding when the board flops or turns an Ace. Sometimes the ace is counterfeit and I have a difficult time folding top pair. It feels like being that "stupid" opponent you described against the guy with pocket 44s flopping a set.

    • @sanderbrouwer91
      @sanderbrouwer91 Рік тому

      A good rule of thumb with this hand is to check and call twice. Three bets is usually not good, also if the second bet is big just fold. Small aces are good to check back / pot control.

  • @morganspector5161
    @morganspector5161 Рік тому +1

    Most players are obsessed with the high end of the deck. Come at them low and you can usually take it to the bank. They can't fold a top pair, they can't even give you credit for middle or lower pairs. And I agree on sets; they are an easy way to go broke.

    Nathan, totally agree with you on all 5. Just hit quads with the pocket 4s, of course it was set over set, he hit 10s on the flop also, but he bet small to keep me in and I was in check call mod with bottom set on the flop, river case 4, he shoved.
    QJ suited I've hit 5 royals with it, so I'm almost always seeing a flop, which should hold true with any suited Broadway cards.

    Everything sounds great, except the A7 suited. Just my opinion. I won't play anything besides A through 5 suited, and A through 10-K suited. I see your point with the flop presented, but if you hit an 8o, you are beat by 10/7o. However I see your point as well, and I would say it depends on the make up of the game and who's sitting with you. Thanks for all the valuable info. Headed from Reno to Vegas next week to play Aria, maybe Wynn. Dad taught me the game when I was about 8 years old. I'm almost 50 now, but never considered it as a full time profession. They say Keep your Day Job till your Night Job Pays. But even then, having either residual income always coming in, or a full-time job is probably the most secure way to be, with poker as a side hustle. I know people that quit the game not because they were losing but because of the recent cheating allegations and shady behavior being outted over the last few years. To each their own. Good luck to you always on the felt, and thanks for the videos. BTW: Pocket 8's are my favorite hand next to 89s at the 5/10 level.

    Small to medium pocket pairs (2-10s) are good for small to medium stake games because you’re not married to them. If you RFI, you very well will have a range advantage on a lot of flops where you don’t hit your set. And if you bluff flop and get called, you can shut down on a blank turn or fire another barrel. And it’s easier to shut down on these pairs because you don’t get married to them.
    But my personal favorite underrated hand in 2-5 or lower is the suited one gapper, from 57 to J9. Lots of hidden trips and gapped straights that won’t seem as obvious to your opponent when they do hit.

    My personal favorite is JTs because it makes good flushes. If your opponent raises pre flop, it’s not possible for them to have many higher flushes when the board comes broadway with your suit. It’s almost always the nuts. If they have broadway with another suit you’re just gonna print money. Also, it makes straights on broadway and going down to 7 being the smallest card on the straight potential. Solid hand

      It's a good hand but you have to be carefull with those type of flushes, in small stakes players just love their Ax suited even if it's a A2-A6 they will still want to see a flop, and I lost the last 4 out of 5 flushes against better ones

With 10-J you can get AKQJ-10, KQJ-10-9, QJ-10-9-8, or J-10-9-8-7 (4 possibilities). Whereas with QJ you can only get any of the first 3 of those possibilities of straight., with KQ just the first 2, and with AK just the first

    Watch pocket 44s of Selbst massacred by Liv... But she bluffed all-in pre-flop which was crazy against pros. Very careful with shitty pocket pairs, no aggressive gameplay until flopped a set and I would try to block follow-on floating ASAP, no slow playing a low set IMHO, raise always? Not convinced so much by QJ suited. If the flop is K10x like in an example or A9x you will often pay a lot of money to see the river and you have typically 4 outs only and some guys sit with As and Ks and 10s or 9s so in reality there are fewer outs, some also might have been folded. The odds are against you and statistically you will more often lose a mid pack equivalent in BB terms and once in many you might win a big one, however, like with trips - everybody can see the table has A, K and 10 or K,10,9 oraz 9, 8, 7. Tricky play to hang someone unless they cannot fold a high set or two pairs.

    I couldn't disagree more with number five. Eight high doesn't show a profit.
    The problem with A7 and QJ is that they are badly dominated. There is a time to play them of course, but there are many situations where they should just be mucked.
    Bottom line is that these three hands lose more money than they win.

    Little confused as to why A9o is a hand only "losing players play" (your video 10 days ago), but A7s is hand one needs to play more often. Sure, you have the ability to get a flush/flush draw sometimes, but otherwise if you're in and just hit an Ace, where do you draw the line on folding? Even the "losing" hand of A9 beats you here.

    • @bobwu7178
      @bobwu7178 Рік тому

      He said A9 off and today he said A7 suited . Suited always has more value then off . For sure you can make nut flush and 7 is a mid number could make a mid straight combo or blocker

    • @stravs8097
      @stravs8097 Рік тому

      @@bobwu7178 You go on believing that if you like. I just ran a Monte Carlo simulation of A9o vs A7s (over 100 million games) and A9o is the winner 64.66% of the time.

      You're doing a head to head simulation where one hand is dominated when its a cash game starting hand issue instead.

      because a suited ace has way better potential to make a really nutted hand that you can win a big pot with.

    No offense, but this is not great advice whatsoever. These marginal hands are doing wayyyyyy to much calling and having to hit wayyyyy too many perfect scenarios as described here to be +EV. A7 s???? That’s the least profitable AXs you could play and way to weak to call. This is bad advice unless as he said…you’re in his game.
