  • In today's video, we are having a look at the TC Electronic SPARK Booster. I've always been curious about this one, since it can do clean boost as well as dirtier tones. The voicing switch in the center is very handy and adds quite a lot of options, and this is without mentioning the flexible EQ and extra gain option.
    I'm using my Vox AC15, loaded with a single Celestion Greenback. The Mic is a Shure SM57, going to my PreSonus Studio 192 Mobile. In Reaper, I am adding a high pass filter at 100Hz, and the guitar tracks are mastered at -14dB LUFS.

    Excellent video and great review of this fantastic pedal!
    Do you know how cheap this boost cost a how good it sounds? I am really glad you mentioned it because I think people underestimate tc electronics drive pedals.
    This one is a little gem 💎
    The 3 position switch is phenomenal ands the EQ section is very handy too!
    I highly recommend the spark booster to anyone who cares about good guitar tones! 🎸

    I have the mini and honestly it's one of my favorite and most versatile pedals..it does so many little things in so many places in the chain with minute changes in the single knob...I have about 3 dozen pedals and mostly drives of some sort from light breakup to all out mayhem fuzzes and I stack them all w the mini

      TC Electronic have some fantastic pedals, many of which are fairly budget friendly. I don't get why they are not more popular.

    Thanx for the vid! One question: if I were to buy this boost, could I earn overdriven sounds out of my AC15C at lower volumes with its help? Thanx!

    • @TheToneLounge
      @TheToneLounge  Рік тому

      Yeah, you could. But it would be the overdrive from the pedal, unless you stacked it on top of the amp distortion.

    Hi. I have a Boss SD-1, and when I try it after my turbo distortion, it changes completely my tone. It seems like is limiting my distortion. Although I like the sound, it’s not what I am looking for. If I put this booster after my distortion, will it be the same or it doesn’t change the sound? I’m looking to boost my volume and add a bit of gain to my distortion.
    (I usually use my SD-1 before my distortion, it gives me more gain without losing my distortion sound but it’s not boosting my volume)

    • @TheToneLounge
      @TheToneLounge  7 місяців тому +1

      From my experience, it does not change the sound unless you mean to change it. The toggle switch lets you change from a neutral voicing, to a more mid heavy or bass heavy voice. It's by far the best boost in this price point. It works great before or after a pedal. Get it, I'm certain that you'll be pleased with it.

      1. Check your cables. It could be a ground issue.
      2. Make sure the pedal is plugged into the same wall outlet as your amp. Plugging electronics into different wall outlets can cause bad ground issues.

    If mids are similar to a TS, than it's a no go for Vox; anything TS based pushes it's mids over the roof ; at least in my experience :/ BTW, what's your take on Hot Cake in the end? Worth all the hype?

    • @TheToneLounge
      @TheToneLounge  Рік тому +1

      It has the mid option, but it also has a neutral boost and bass boost. As for the Hot Cake, it's good but far from my favorite pedal.

      In my opinion the mids are less prominent than in a Tubescreamer type pedal even if it is affecting the same frequencies.

      It's primarily a volume boost. It has more versatility compared to something like the MXR Micro Amp, but perhaps what you need is something like a Boss GE-7?

      Great demo. I have one. Like it very much. Subtle but versatile.
      FAT/UP position thickens the tone.
      MID position: boost, transparent OD.
      DOWN position adds a bit mids. I call this TS-like light.
