Best affordable boost! TC Electronic SPARK with Vox AC15c1

- In today's video, we are having a look at the TC Electronic SPARK Booster. I've always been curious about this one, since it can do clean boost as well as dirtier tones. The voicing switch in the center is very handy and adds quite a lot of options, and this is without mentioning the flexible EQ and extra gain option.
I'm using my Vox AC15, loaded with a single Celestion Greenback. The Mic is a Shure SM57, going to my PreSonus Studio 192 Mobile. In Reaper, I am adding a high pass filter at 100Hz, and the guitar tracks are mastered at -14dB LUFS.

You always sound groovy and great.Well done
Thanks! What did you think of the pedal?
Can't wait as I used to own one and it truly is on of the best and most versatile boost out there.
Absolutely! It can do so much with very few controls. TC knocked this one out of the park.
Your playing style is awesome
You are far too kind. Thank you. :) What did you think of the pedal?
I agree. I have a couple of boosts and the Spark is sooo versatile!
It’s my second favorite boost, after the FFX all you can boost.
Thanks a lot for your work!!!
My pleasure!
各ノブやスイッチの反応がすごくわかりやすい!良いレビューです!❤
You are most welcome.
Excellent video and great review of this fantastic pedal!
Do you know how cheap this boost cost a how good it sounds? I am really glad you mentioned it because I think people underestimate tc electronics drive pedals.
This one is a little gem 💎
The 3 position switch is phenomenal ands the EQ section is very handy too!
I highly recommend the spark booster to anyone who cares about good guitar tones! 🎸
They use to sell for way more money upon the initial release. I'm glad that the price came down on these pedals. They are freaking awesome.
I have the mini and honestly it's one of my favorite and most versatile pedals..it does so many little things in so many places in the chain with minute changes in the single knob...I have about 3 dozen pedals and mostly drives of some sort from light breakup to all out mayhem fuzzes and I stack them all w the mini
TC Electronic have some fantastic pedals, many of which are fairly budget friendly. I don't get why they are not more popular.
Please tell me - TC ELECTRONIC Spark Booster or TC Electronic Spark mini? Does it make sense to change to TC ELECTRONIC Spark Booster?
Do you just need a volume boost? If yes, get the mini. You want the volume boost and more controls? Get the bigger one.
It’s a good one 👍
Darn right it is!
Best affordable boost with EQ settings
Absolutely agree!
Thanx for the vid! One question: if I were to buy this boost, could I earn overdriven sounds out of my AC15C at lower volumes with its help? Thanx!
Yeah, you could. But it would be the overdrive from the pedal, unless you stacked it on top of the amp distortion.
@@TheToneLounge Ok, I see, thanx!
Hi. I have a Boss SD-1, and when I try it after my turbo distortion, it changes completely my tone. It seems like is limiting my distortion. Although I like the sound, it’s not what I am looking for. If I put this booster after my distortion, will it be the same or it doesn’t change the sound? I’m looking to boost my volume and add a bit of gain to my distortion.
(I usually use my SD-1 before my distortion, it gives me more gain without losing my distortion sound but it’s not boosting my volume)
From my experience, it does not change the sound unless you mean to change it. The toggle switch lets you change from a neutral voicing, to a more mid heavy or bass heavy voice. It's by far the best boost in this price point. It works great before or after a pedal. Get it, I'm certain that you'll be pleased with it.
That was well good. Kind of lost focus on the pedal aspect and just enjoyed the awesome sounds I was hearing. Nice!
Thanks for the kind words, John! This pedal is very versatile and sounds great too. The price point on these is perfect!
intresting, i have big volume different between clean and mid/fat boost. as i hear you dont
Nope, no issues with volume on mine.
I have this pedal and when i trun on the pedal i listen a noice and the noice still have when my guitar volume fully off .... why i don't anyone tell me please this salutation
1. Check your cables. It could be a ground issue.
2. Make sure the pedal is plugged into the same wall outlet as your amp. Plugging electronics into different wall outlets can cause bad ground issues.
I buy one for my alesis ion synthesiser to use it for some solos, i dident use it yet! But i think it can work nice
What kind of power suplly i have to buy for this? (sorry for my english 🙂)
9V battery or a BOSS 9V adapter.
@@TheToneLounge thank you very much!
Just looking at the construction, I bet it’s a clone of the Xotic BB preamp
I suppose you mean Xotic RC, not BB
@@gobeco honestly I can’t keep those letters straight, what refers to what?
@@voxpathfinder15r the RC is supposed to be Really Clean boost. The BB is their modded TS circuit.
@@voxpathfinder15r I meant that Spark is a very similar to Xotic RC rather than BB.
If mids are similar to a TS, than it's a no go for Vox; anything TS based pushes it's mids over the roof ; at least in my experience :/ BTW, what's your take on Hot Cake in the end? Worth all the hype?
It has the mid option, but it also has a neutral boost and bass boost. As for the Hot Cake, it's good but far from my favorite pedal.
@@TheToneLounge I kinda expected that answer for the HC :)
I know it's probably a let down for hardcore Vox fans, but it's just not that special to my ears. It's good, don't get me wrong. I just wouldn't sell all my pedals and only keep that one.
In my opinion the mids are less prominent than in a Tubescreamer type pedal even if it is affecting the same frequencies.
have one not impressed
Why not?
@@TheToneLounge seems to do so little. wish it had a 7 band eq instead of tone knobs
It's primarily a volume boost. It has more versatility compared to something like the MXR Micro Amp, but perhaps what you need is something like a Boss GE-7?
Great demo. I have one. Like it very much. Subtle but versatile.
FAT/UP position thickens the tone.
MID position: boost, transparent OD.
DOWN position adds a bit mids. I call this TS-like light.
