Hey Brother. For me when I came to Landstar I was running off our load board. I’ve finally started running “direct” customer freight for about 3 agents here. It took time to develop the relationships but I’m glad I did. It’s helping now in big ways. You keep your truck in great shape, have a great background in trucking (black and chrome start) and are very business minded. Network, network and find the TSH agents that appreciate a great operator. Send them pics of the loads, I’ve used videos for tricky load securement. And they love that stuff. I agree it’s a shit show right now, but you can survive. I don’t profess to know everything… but I pod off my truck in 15 months in an LP program.
Analysis of your Cost per day over refusing to haul cheap freight will determine whether or not any O/O will survive any market but especially this market. Sitting refusing to haul a “cheap” load increases your cost per day. Forget about Rate per mile erase it from your analysis. Only focus on your Daily Revenue and see if it makes a difference! I enjoy your videos man.
Get out of the LP and finance a 2020-21 cascadia It will probably save you another $1500-$2000/ month. Parts and maintenance is less maintenance monthly payment is less. Should be able to find a nice one for $50-60k with under 400k miles and remaining factory warranty. Then lease onto a smaller company that is taking much less percentage
@@SteveAbernethyCFA This is true as every company and situation will differ. My suggestion was to include looking at his current situation and the situation and alternative options available. He’s seems very competent of evaluations but in my opinion he’s restricting himself based on exposure. The walk away lease is a great insurance policy but it’s killing his profits. If he wants more than he needs more skin in the game. Shit or get off the pot.
The first thing you should cut is lease purchase! I’m an owner op down about 31k from last year at this time but still making money haven’t cut anything going home less often but still doing the deal
Hey man, been watching your videos and im considering on getting into the industry through TMC. With that being said, i dont want to do OTR for more than 1 1/2 years before i buy my own truck to operate through the port of charleston sc to be home daily. These ads on indeed are saying 4,000 a week + FSC gross. Is that a decent number?
That $4K number you mentioned is in the ballpark with the current freight market however it’s not enough gross revenue to maintain profitability with 1 truck.
Man I've been following from day 1 going to TMC, I pretty much followed you in and I got out before you because I just didn't see the value for the cost.
I wish I could throw some money at you, but being on Disability, I'm not able to. Being not-a-driver I don't have advice either. I'm sorry for everything you're going through.
You guys are rookies!09 2014 15 and 16 were bad! This is buisness up and down!Way too many drivers this time than any other!Get out leave us to pick up the pieces.
