I'm not sure where the name came from as in "are you going for a jar?" but it's a phrase I use regularly, great pint of Guinness, I love the fact there's no Internet or TV, it's just a conversation with your friends new n old and a few jars of Guinness of course
Some very famous Irish people buried there including the famous Daniel O’ Connell who founded the cemetery and Michael Collins. I was there yesterday and went into kavanagh’s for the best creamy pint of Guinness in Ireland.
The late Eugene Kavanagh is my great uncle, this family pub is part of my heritage and I’m proud of it❤️
Best pub in Dublin.
As a grave digger/sexton for over 10 years I need to Visit this place

How much is a pint there nowadays?
Being a gravedigger is definitely steady work
Whats the name of the cemetery next to it?
Glasnevin Cemetery. Well worth the visit for the sheer magnitude of it.

Cavenagh's owner barred the great Luke Kelly for singing a song with friends after a funeral service in Glasnevin cemetery ....friendly pub !!
