Anybody whos been in Dublin 10 minutes sees this side to it. The city was Europes poorest city for two centuries, a bombed out Belfast during the 1970's and 80's was still far richer than Dublin. It would take decades to make it look nice all over.

Dublin became poor after the 1801 Act of Union. It took a century of independence to fix it. Being in the UK was a disaster, as 1845-50 proved.

They did it as a last resort, everyone was given a warning first to cease their dealing (which resulted in the loss of life of children and young people all across dublin) - if they continued, they were given a more harsh warning, third time around - they were removed from society.

You know in the end the vigilantes only made the problem worse, there was very little gun-crime in Dublin back then but now its rampant, they tried to stamp out the fire but only spread the embers.

That's bollox the gardai were and still are understaffed these fellas had no other choice but to step forward luckily for them back then there wasnt a cartel sending drugs and guns to ireland to young lads who dont give a fuck and are wearing Gucci this and Louis Vuitton that every day they wear rolexs drive the best cars live in flash houses and why is there no vigilantes now simply because their whole family could be killed by some bloke that's been giving 20-30k or let off a drug debt or forced to do it because he owes money I was asked to petrol bomb a house for a kilo of weed before because the guy poured nitro mors on a car and damaged the paint I was asked to retaliate and I said no its completely different now 20 years ago you wouldn't be possibly getting burnt to death for damaging paint on a car you would have gotten a few slaps now if a big dealer doesn't like someone they can either put a hit on him or tell another dealer that hes a rat or hes trying to get you whacked and he will be dead because a psychotic coke sniffing drug dealer will not hesitate he will just say get rid of him and it will be done so that is why there is no more vigilantes and they didn't make it worse sure Christy Dunne has a famous quote and that is "if you think we are bad, wait till you see what's coming behind us" it was obvious its evolution of crime and unfortunately for us it's evolving a lot quicker than the evolution of policing

    • @Doco09
      @Doco09 3 роки тому +2

that's nonsense, the lack of gun crime was due to the IRA being active and them not allowing criminals to take over. As soon as the IRA went on ceasefire the gun crime exploded as there was nobody to stop the criminals. The Gardai and the state relied upon republicans to police the working class communities as they hadn't and still don't have a clue

I am half Irish and live here, but we remain in a really old fashioned state altogether. I am also wary of any new approaches, but the drugs war around the world is not being won. South America remains in dire straits due to the drug wars. Something has gotta change.

that was a rare protest here and it was in 2007 , havent seen or heard of any Irish community standing up for their towns since or against the scum dealers , in Fact in Dublin there are 6 new drug gangs which replaced 2 others when the main people were jailed . these 6 gangs have over 200 young members and are within a few miles of the Dublin city center , it is getting worse and more dangerous for innocent people to go about their daily lives without being attacked .

It's good to take action against the drug dealers when you feel that the powers that be aren't doing enough, but if you're trying to get them out of your neighborhood and move somewhere else, they're just going to be other people's problem. ...need to get them put in jail and have the keys thrown away so they can't bother anyone else.

You could build an entire house out of hemp, and many of the furnishings inside such as curtains and blankets, to counter tops. papers, foods, Body Care items (soaps and salves), consumer AND industrial textiles, perfumes, varnishes to fuel to Solvents, to animal bedding I’ve heard that there are over 25,000 known uses for hemp, any more?

Im American, I don't think most "Yanks" believe in the death penalty unless the person receiving it committed an obscene murder or some other equivalent act. I'm sure in your mind killing the drug dealers leads to a greater good but that just sounds ignorant to me. I however can't say i've seen these drug problems first hand or met any of the families destroyed so I don't feel the same motivation to "Punish drug dealing with death."

rephrase that. Doctors make sure the drug is in its "safest form", will not rob you, and will not sell to a child. A dealer really doesnt care.

It would seem that Dublin's drug problem has social roots, namely unemployment. While the vigilante efforts are admirable, killing the dealers who are supplying a demand is not the solution. Only by focusing on whatever is making the population seek out drugs in the first place, can they help the symptoms of the underlying cause; an ill society.

Those marches were the best deterrent to drug dealing Dublin has ever seen, the difference between now and the 90's is huge and back then the garda made no difference but those marches did.

No, the vigilantes should all be charged with conspiracy to commit murder. There is no drug problem, but there is obviously a terrorist problem.

No drug problem? What would you call thousands of people on drugs then? At one stage there were over 11,000 people Dublin on methadone or heroin. It has gotten a lot better though.

It does work being from the Creggan in Derry which was a run down area like this one, the IRA basically had the place drug free like many other parts of northern Ireland, the destruction seen in other areas from the drug epidemic didn't exist in ours.

70,000 would be nearer the figure . .the government cover up the problem because it's a lot worse than most European cities . . .it's only better heroin wise because cocaine is where it's at with the privileged and well off using coke these days.

how is that pointless even if it's not widespread in western use? my point was people go on about how cannabis is not a drug and just a natural plant, well opium is also just a natural plant and the active compound in opium, morphine is also medically approved and has been used since forever, unlike thc from cannabis.

Never stated that Marijuana\Cannabis or THC if you will, has no medical uses, as it does indeed have many and it is indeed strange it's just now that it's benefits has been started to be exploited in legal, approved medicine.

Its no where near as bad as it was then I am an addict on methadone and can tell you for sure their is far less people selling heroin than there was back then and far less buying it because it is dirt thats being sold today may be there are more people selling tablets and methadone today but not gear. Most of who you see in the city centre are selling prescription drugs like Zimovane, Dalmane, Diazipam or Methadone

I see no difference between this and the American drug problem. You have a big population of dysfunctional families living in neglected housing projects, and the kids are going to be attracted to the streets, not school.
With high unemployment, what incentive is there to go to school?

No. Whores protect the gangsters. Blowjob for weed and protection. Police do nothing about it. Legalise weed and you get a society of whores. Only Jesus Christ can change this. No police will solve it. This is a spiritual war to destroy the family. Yoga, sex, 420. Rastafari comes from Hinduism, so does Yoga. Feminists worship the Hindu goddess Kali. Do some research. We need man and women, not whores and gangsters. Corrupt cops are part of the problem. Police is afraid of the mafia because they don't believe in God. Repent!

Nathan Fitznailzryan saint jophes flats Dublin was like home for me as a kid they on the north side of Dublin and haven't been there in years but was all good for a smoke. Then the gear ruined the place. Probably done up by now. I became the spot when sheriff street lot just kept ripping every one off. It was five minutes around the corner. Unfortunately it didn't take long for sheriff street to catch on and they were up there ripping people off. Place was hot as fuck drug squad would just circle the area and nick people on the way out. Getting things wasn't the problem keeping hold of it was. Never ripped in the mansion but was in sheriff street. Miss spent youth. I was lucky enough to get to UK. But I was already on the wrong road I did return to Dublin in addition twice first time mansions was good to score second time could not go near the place without getting your head kicked in by vigilantes. But just moved problem elsewhere. Why do we have a drug problem coz they illegal and people want them try making celery illegal and see who gives a fuck
