“ I feel like it was designed for me” that right there is the holy grail of product design. Massive kudos to Arturia. One of the few hardware/software music tech companies who get both of them right most of the time!

So much power with the locking and randomization options. The fact that it can even send midi out is truly awesome. This is the degree of note randomizing that ableton, bitwig, cubase etc. need to implement. Random, generative music but with constraints.
I'm in the process of creating my first studio and I'm making a wishlist. Ableton Live with the Push 2, Arturia Keylab 88 and the Roliboard 49 are already there. This will definitely be my first VST. Thnx for this great demo!
I'm so glad to see you make tutoriels on this synth! It would be great to see you explore its possibilities like you did on Operator. Anyway, I think I'll enjoy anything you might publish! Thanks for everything.
This video was so useful. Thank you so much! I barely know anything about synths, I just play around with them but you made it so clear and easy. Thank you!
I was already planning on messing with the Pigments sequencer this weekend. Clearly it was meant to be! Pigments has rapidly become my favorite plugin.
Please please please more Pigments tutorials man! I love this software synth and you were actually the reason I finally checked out the sequencer! Its awesome and I'm sure you have a ton more valuable insights on the other features of pigments!
I just bought Pigments 2 last night. Thanks for the tutorial of the sequencer. I haven’t even finished checking out all the stock presets. It’s an amazing software synth!
Thanks for your real good walkthroughs ... much gratitude ... you explain so well and clearly also to be understood by people whose first language is not english ... I purchased Arturia Pigments 2 and I am so excited about it as you ... I have quite some synths ... this one is definitely for me ... thanks again and keep on doing this great work Mario
Yes more videos on Pigment. I too have this plugin and continue to be amazed by the endless possibilities for sound design you can achieve. I am a dedicated Ableton user, and your content on the native instruments has been great, but I also use Arturia plugins and want to be able to get the most from them as well. Thx.
Awesome. Big fan of Pigments 2, which I was fortunate to get on special. Use it in almost every Ableton project. Not sure it sounds better than UVI Falcon or their sample based synths, but it sounds great. And Pigments interface sure does make it easier and more enjoyable to program. Great video, thx.
Is there a way to change the base note in the scale presets ? Like it's locked on C but for example how I select a F# harmonic minor scale onto the pitch section ? Thx a lot for your vid, very useful as usual
Great stuff here Seed to Stage!! I got Pigments in Dec 2019 and ended up with the V7 Collection.....but, Pigments is a beast. Not being a keyboardist, I'll be using your video tips to get my next song going. Please do more vids on Pigments 2. Cheers and appreciate this.
Is there any way you can save a sequencer pattern and use it on other sounds in pigments? Sometimes I find a great sequence pattern but would want to try it out on other sounds without having to manually re-write it again.
Thanks for your interesting video, I didn't pay that much attention to the sequencer part. It's really powerful! I really love the ease of use of this synth and 2.0 upgrade brings great features. Do you know if the sequence played can be exported using midi to a hardware synth? I'll check that out, it would be great!
can you click for example c and e together and it plays the sequence for both notes (for e transposed of course) but at the same time? or is it "monophonic" ?
Have you figured out how to output sequences to midi? I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while to no luck. They claim that it’s possible in both the user manual and as the last slide on the sequencer tutorial in pigments itself without any labeling or direction.
@@echinate_music I just messed around and got it working - you don't need to do anything specific in Pigments - its just routing the midi in your daw. So for Ableton - after you've set up Pigments how you like - go to Session view. Create a new midi track. Set 'Midi From' to be the "Pigments" track and underneath that select "Pigments" - which is you saying you want to listen to midi from the actual VST (pre or post fx just give you whatever you play on your keyboard or in the Midi Editor). Arm the new midi track but on the "Pigments" track set 'Monitor' to 'In' so it still listens to your keyboard. Hit record and then the Pigments sequencer or arp midi notes will be recorded into the new track.
Hey guys/gals. Just got this synth and would like to record the output on a separate midi channel. Does anyone know if this is possible in Ableton? If it is, how? :) Cheers.
Can we turn a step on/off on the sequencer? Answers it myself. Trig possibilty to either 0 or 100% looks like the solution. They should release this sequencer as a standalone midi effect plugin.
I would be very curious to see a video in which you tried to do something similar in Ableton Live - maybe with some combination of an arpeggiator and a scale device?
This is probably a dumb question but are you hitting middle C to make the sequencer go? If so, what happens if you hit D? Does it transpose the entire sequence a whole step up? In other words, are the notes here really just offsets (relative pitches rather than absolute pitches)?
C in the sequencer means the note you are playing whatever it actually is. To fix that, if your root note is D, you can turn the sequencer transpose knob down 2 semitones, and then the D in the sequencer plays an actual D when you hit D, and the other notes in the sequencer would be correct.
Check out Andy's products at hgsounds. He has some incredible synths with random generation sequencers like Circular and Kosmology etc etc.for very little money. Free plug for Andy! Btw, nice video on a great softsynth, Pigments, it's very deep.
Good demonstration of Pigments! If you just could please stop moving the pigments window around all the time! It's really, really annoying. Like a tick...

Nice! - The sequencer lanes are similar to the ones on Korg's Wavestate. (No idea which came first.) Very powerful and useful concept.
This video is required watching for pigments owners!
Fantastic breakdown

Got it a few days ago and I am blown away. Infinite possibilities.
I am beyond impressed with this vst I been on it for like 3 days straight

Great video. This synth has quickly become my go to synth. I haven’t even tried the sequencer yet. That will change. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for this tutorial on the sequencer part. Keep em coming with Pigments 2.
Would love to see a more in-depth video on how to make acid sequences with this thing!
👍

Excellent tutorial

That was great. Thanks!
Please more tutorial on Pigments 2!!.. such a endless possibilities !
Thank you for another awesome entry! Loving your stuff and overall style of teaching! Subbed and rang the bell!
Damn, why have i not purchased this yet. So painful using other sequencers. Esp for techno music. Thanks for the video.
I just bought this so please do get right into it :)
Great video
Great video. I like the way you simply put things without all these swooshy effects other UA-camrs tend to do.
FIY: Pigments 3.5 is on introductory offer for €50 until Jan 6! :)

@@geemag42 You are the GOAT, bro! Thank you so much!
Can u help us in warping acapella or instruments in psytrance.. And how to remix any commercial songs in psytrance, like future progressive psytrance.
Is there a way to lock in the sequence when you're happy with it, but then change the preset without losing your sequence?
it is possible copy patterns between presets?
Great tutorial. Thank you. But I don't understand why you can't use the same sequencer for different sounds...??
Is there any cheaper alternatives to pigment?

Very good breakdown I like a synth that can do acid lol
👌👌👌
is it limited to just 16 steps. I need 64!
If I have pigments, how do I get pigments 2?
The update is available in Arturia Software Center. Just run that program, log in (if necessary), and go to My Updates.
Thanks!
Around 7:50 this really started to remind me of a track from the Hotline Miami Soundtrack ua-cam.com/video/37-WR-SyTxs/v-deo.html
the sequencer is 10..130 tempo?..-5
Pigments + Ableton. What's not to like?

You call this music ?
YES!!!

you managed to make pigments sound like trash. congrats.
Not enought accurate sorry
Too much talking
