- In this video, I run through the process of updating older, worn components to modern electronic components. Some may see this as blasphemy, but the owner wanted to keep riding the bike, but didn't want to go on a long journey of trying to find Shimano XTR components from the 90's. The owner really liked the way the SRAM AXS Eagle performed and felt, so we decided on a GX AXS group with a NX 11-50 12 speed cassette that is a direct bolt on to any Shimano 8, 9, or 10 speed HG style cassette.

Great resto-mod. Exactly what I did with my 2005 3x9.
But I made it GX mechanical, full tubeless and added a dropper post.
Good job! Next upgrade is to swap out that fork for either a better suspension model or go with a rigid fork if you use it mostly on pavement.
Damn! that looks good
Best video
Very interesting and inspiring! What is the cost of such a project? To your knowledge, is it possible to replace the suspension fork with a non-suspension one? Thanks Joey!
Hi Denis!
Sorry for the late response! Yes, there’s still plenty of non suspension fork options, maybe even some titanium or carbon versions. Definitely some chromoly rigid fork options for sure!
From what I remember, I think the overall cost of the project, parts and labor, was around $1300
Thanks as always for your comments and questions!
Nice upgrade. Looks clean.
Thanks 👍
I was trying to find your episode where you showed how you dimpled the chain stay on your frame in order to fit the chain wheel?
I want to do this to my frame in order to fit 45 mm tires.
Thanks
@@peterbedford2610 I dimpled the frame a year or so ago for more tire clearance. My First Frame build Refreshed!
