Hi Mike. The xeremies are traditionally played in C# accompanied by another musician playing the fabiol and small drum. Each group on the island has their own style of playing. Some groups prefer to play in C and include other non-traditional instruments. This is a good excuse to have more than one set of bagpipes. In normal years, there would be a big gathering of xeremiers in Soller every August. It's wonderful to take part in this event.
Hi Ann. Do you have a connection with Soller? I have a house up the valley in Fornalutx, which I visit whenever I can. I have had a set of xeremies for some years but found it difficult to find local players to play with, though of course plenty to hear.
@@jonathanbynoe2519 I live in Vilafranca de Bonany and go for lessons every week to the music school in Montuïri where I first heard the xeremies played. I also play with a group Xeremiers des Puig de Sa Font based in Sant Llorenç and a gentleman in Soller makes most of our xeremies. The Soller group is fantastic and very welcoming. You can contact them through Facebook or any groups that might meet closer to where your house is. Just type in 'Xeremiers de' and they will all pop up. If you join in the music scene here, doors will open for you.
@@annsimpson3375 I believe I heard the Xeremiers d’es Puig de sa Font playing in Sóller town hall when the International Bagpipe Conference visited two years ago. I meet Joan Piu (who made my pipes too) sometimes in Sóller, and we converse as well as my Spanish allows (my Mallorqui is worse!)

@@jonathanbynoe2519 Glad you speak Mallorquí hehehe.
Now that you say it is a march, it has been played sometimes by the mossos d'esquadra.
Sounds super amazing
what key are the pipes?¿
These are in C sharp. They do exist in C and D but C sharp is authentic (if inconvenient!)
@@jonathanbynoe2519 it¨s a good job I wasn´t holding my breath, but thanks for the reply, see you when the world gets better
