It's got to be the Moondrop Variations - THE IEM that showed me the difference between sub bass and mid bass, and introduced me to a whole new chapter in my 'bass education'
Nothing mini about the maestro mini… proud user of one. What you described is on point! The bass tremors can be literally felt in the middle of your skull down to your shoulders
The Sony IER-Z1R is my favorite, with a caveat. It's like a toxic ex. It's so good every time when you go back to it, but inevitably starts hurting after a while. Meanwhile, the Timeless and the OH10 are steady Eddies. You can chill with them for extended periods of time without any pain.
My favorite bass-y IEM is definitely the IKKO OH10. I'm no bass head, but I remember the first time hearing this and shocked about how technical it was despite the amount of rumble. Definitely an oldie but goodie in my book.
yeah I love the bass on that, its my favourite also. The biggest disappointment I found was Crinacle's Fiio collab, I found the treble on that to be better than the bass, yet the bass was the selling focal point. HBB's collab with KZ has the biggest slam, just love the bass on that but but quality of the bass on the Timeless, yep thats the best for me too.
It's the fast decay of the bass. It's so satisfying. It's like the rubber in a bouncy ball. You push on it and it snaps back instantly. Bass on DDs is much muddier. It's because of how long it takes the driver to travel back into position between big bass notes. Planar bass is king. The Timeless is the future of IEMs. All the best ones are going to either be full planar or have a planar driver in them going forward.
I love my Kato as a "fun" pair of IEMs. Initially picked them up to compliment my HD600 for times when I need more sound isolation. The only thing I think it lacks in is sub bass, otherwise it's a great all-rounder IEM, in my opinion.
I just heard the FatFreq Maistro Mini V2 at the Can Jam So Cal on Sunday. They were amazing! I had my 19-year old son with me and we both listened to them. We listened to “No Quarter” by Led Zeppelin and it was probably the best I have ever heard that song on IEMs. The mids and highs were beautiful, especially during the middle interlude. Then when John Paul Jones’ bass lines start coming in softly, you just felt it. Then … THEN … John Bonham kicked in with his snare drum and kit and the fullness of sound was just amazing. I don’t think the V2 are available yet, but they are going to cost $499 and they were selling them for $449 at Can Jam as a Can Jam special. I’ll be getting a pair for sure!
Best bass iem I've heard so far would probably be a three way tie between the Ikko OH10, 7Hz Timeless, and Tanchjim Oxygen. All three sets have different aspects of the bass that I enjoy. Been wanting to try the Xenns Up though as I've heard the bass on that is godly. Great update to your previous list by the way!
Hey quick question. I have the OH10 and I'm really struggling to make it sound any good. The included tips are not good for my ears (either that or dozens of respected reviewers are wrong about this IEM because it sounds incredibly piercing in the treble region and the tuning is awful). I get the bass, but they sound wonky as all hell. Do you recommend any tips for these? I'm thinking I need something narrow bore because the treble is truly awful. BA timbre in the treble is horrible and doesn't mesh with the DD bass at all. I'm near selling these over their sound. I have and adore the Timeless.
@@Polyfusia Same experience for me. Every crash cymbal hihat is extremely piercing and Scchh sounding and the treble is overpowering the bass by a lot. I ordered the Mele, because for some reason there's no decent basshead IEM except BLON BL03 and Mele below several hundred dollars.. Check out @Michael Bruce and pay attention to his spreadsheet rating bass in his videos and you will see what I mean! Mangird Xenns Up, Sony EX800ST (Discontinued), Letshouer D13, Sony IER-Z1R, Letshouer EJ07m is some more options I haven't fully investigated yet
@@christofferaasted We aren't the first to bring this up. It's beyond just being V shaped and having a lot of sparkle. It's genuinely unpleasant. Is it possible they've made some dud units? I think it's either that or a tip issue because there is no way experienced reviewers would rate the OH10 so highly if they heard what I am hearing.
@@Polyfusia I totally agree. Its distorted treble and super bright.. The bass is there and above neutral but its not a special "slam" or roomy bass like an underground techno club or loudspeaker festival.. Its just slightly elevated.. Not basshead by a large margin. Campfire Cascade was total shit despite good reviews.. imagine an arcade cabinet from SEGA and you hear ONLY that bass from a horned speaker.. thats what Cascade sounds like.. Or a movie theater thats trying to scare you away with so much dinosaur/godzilla bass that you rise up and leave. I find Campfire to be extremely odd and random in their taste. Overpriced garbage.
I own the 7hz Timeless and I have heard a few of the supposed 'best' IEMs for bass, but there is an important omission from this list. The 64 Audio Nio. It is not only amazing for bass but it is also super clean, tight and controlled. It is also tuneable via the APEX modules for more or less bass. So even if you are not looking for bass cannons, these are one of the best IEMs in the world at any price. I prefer them (very slightly) over the U12t.
For bass, you can't go wrong with the Timeless or the S12 with a bass boost. Planar bass is something else, the precision and quality you can get out of it is almost magical.
@@DenisDamulira23hey ive been deciding between s12, the timeless, and wu heyday. i like a warm sub bassy tone so i was looking into the wu because i heard the s12 is harsh. i do also feel like ill feel like i missed out on the s12 for the wider soundstage, but am curious if its even much of a difference, since im not sure if reviewers think its a much higher soundstage because of the higher freqencies (in music production, higher freqs are more stereo spread). i also like tuning my earphones to my taste so im interested in planar but worried if planar bass wont be satisfying to me but i think itll be okay. i also mix music and produce so i do also want good instrument seperation in the mids, and not much mud
Now we're talking. I'm no pure basshead but i love bass in my music. For me, natural sounding means there's bass in the tuning. There's reason why there's a Big Kick-Drum. Well, mine are T3+, Mele and the $35 sleeper Reecho SG01.
Where are you finding the Reecho for $35? Only seeing it at 5o. Last night a review on Major Hi-fi said that it was lacking bass hut good on trebke. Confused me since it's toured as bass heavy.
The only IEM that's allowed me to actually feel and not only hear the bass didn't make your list. The Raptgo Hook X which IMHO beats the Timeless across the board including not only bass but stage, tonality, mids, highs, details and clarity. It should definitely have a spot on this list. I own a lot of IEMs now and not all cheap sets, I find myself reaching for the Hook X more than any other set I own...
The Maestro Mini is super interesting, I've never seen an IEM with a gianormous sub bass shelf like that. Why must side questy IEMs like this get in the way of achieving that end goal IEM I so desire?
Great, great review!! For the moment, my favorite iem for good bass is the Tripowin HBB Mele! That is the one that matches my taste for music and my library very well. If I want to hear something with a wider sound stage, more airy, I go to the Aria. For more more fun I go to the CCA CRA.
Owning both the OH10 and HBB's Kinda Lava, you definitely get what you pay for. IMO, the Kinda Lava is in another league when it comes to quality sub- and mid-bass, not to mention the detail retrieval across the spectrum and imaging. That being said, I haven't heard HBB's Mahina, which have an even higher bass shelf and are worth checking out. Either way, I like HBB's taste when it comes to pushing the bass elevation to 300Hz, rather than 200, like Crin.
Only tried the FiiO F3 and the BQEYZ KC2 as far as IEMs, go, but my favorite for bass is the KC2's. One of those "quality over quantity" bass tunings. Plenty of energy when listening to rock, and clean midbass perfect for vocals. The F3 was really good too for my first IEM. Clean U-shaped tuning and a LOT of bass.
My current favorite bassy iems are the Korea-exclusive new atrio(=g9 pro) and Monarch mk1. The original developer of the atrio series has been releasing new sub-bass monsters recenly. It is a pity that those brand-new gems are not being exported overseas...
Great video! I'm looking for basshead set under 50$, I'm confused between Castor bass, Rosefinch, Juzear Clear, and KZ ESX. Which one do you suggest? (considering bass quality and quantity, subbass rumble, clarity in mids, vocals/tonality)
My favourite bassy iem is the BQEYZ Spring 2, run through a Qudelix 5k with a 12db boost (!) for the sub bass. This iem can handle it and it sounds awesome. Especially for rock. For techno/electronic, no bass elevation required. I have Fiio FHE as well, and it just doesn't come even close to the Spring 2's bass performance. Have the Aria as well, nah... no comparison. Have the 7hz Timeless as well, lovely treble, but the bass doesn't sound full enough. Almost "horn like".
Hi there, I am about to get my FHE soon. Don't know why some of these comments are bashing crinacle FHE... Thought it'd be the best basshead overall.. I really hope it does not dissapoint
Favorite bassy iem for me - Unique Melody MEXT without doubt! This organic subbas, fast and punchy midbass OMG this is crazy good. Seal is crucial. No seal no fun at all. Azla tips fit the best.
Yeah I've watched like a 100 videos and the consensus seem to still feel the CRA is the best in the budget IEMs. EVEN BETTER than some newer $50+ models. I'm waiting on mine ($10) and the Rosefinch ($16) to see which I prefer and take it from there. Got a few back up plans. And after all that I have a list a mile long to pick a more neutral set n case I ever get sick of the bass. Doubtful but doesn't hurt. Lol
Might be an unpopular choice but I love the Campfire Dorado if I want some more oomph in my music. Electronic / EDM / Synth are amazing on it. I snagged it on sale and don't regret it.

Great video giz. I have ordered the Mele before you made this video :) It seemed unmatched at that price, just had to try! Seems like just my thing, we will see!
I just bought a KATO pair and going to return them. they are crazy uncomfortable and heavy and don’t stay in. I’m looking for something crisp and clean but with enough Bass to feel something like Primus, AND must be easy and comfortable to wear . willing to spend up to $300 for this magical combination
Should have mentioned Legend EVO. Is pretty good, Build quality is a usual driver flex on EE side but otherwise great. IER-M9 also has great BASS for an all BA iem, but has a warmer tonality. Another iem, that matches with this list is probably the DIVA, which has great BASS for an all BA iem, has same bass shelf as the Monarch MK1.
@@Ayam.plastik EVO Bass is a different type of bass, I wouldn't say better exactly, its more like on a different scale despite having same quantity. There's also two other iems I'd like to recommend in this case. Elysian Annihilator and 64 Audio Tia Trio. I wouldn't peg them as complete basshead iems but with more than sufficient amount of bass, I would recommend them for sure. There's also Vision Ears EXT. etc

Hi Timmy, I just got the OH1. Is it comparable to the OH10? Or is it a different by a long shot
🔥OH10’s and Variations 🔥😋
Which one has better bass? Truthears Zero Red or Truthears Zero original? As per this video review was made, the truthears zero red was not released yet...
Great video giz. I have ordered the Mele before you made this video :) It seemed unmatched at that price, just had to try! Seems like just my thing, we will see!
My favourite bassy IEM is the CCA CRA, simply because I'm too poor for this hobby.
my favorite iem for bass for now is the Aria SE, just amazing midbass
Yeah, evo... i wonder how there is no evo here.. evo bass even better than z1r...
There's also Vision Ears EXT. etc
I have both.. imo evo's bass slightly better than z1r... z1r better on quantity and slam... but evo better on texture and deepness...
Have you tried the Symphonium Helios yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them, currently deciding among them, the Monarch MKII and the MEST MKII as my first kilobuck IEM
Woah, I am deciding exactly among there three and also Elysian Diva. I want an all around IEM with an engaging sound too.
Love my Ikko OH10. IMR Dark Matter
The imr R2 Aten does the Rumble for me. When you think you hit the bottom, it goes still deeper.
Hi when you will make a review about ikko Oh7? Thank you in advance!
Probably not going to as it is quite an old IEM. I will reference it more in comparisons and list videos.
For d&n, trance and cloud rap which one is the best iem for that genre music?? (I already had the melee but I lost them and i want something similar but different brand, similar price too :p) Thank for the nice review!!
Not all about that bass myself, FH3 neutral sound with sub boost is nice tho
Ier-z1r is bass king. Unfortunately the fit is so horrendous, not sure what they were thinking with that. I had to get rid of it fast 💨.
My first iem purchase was the Sony IER Z1R... I sold them a while back and bought about 10 iems with the money I paid for them with no regrets. I'm seriously thinking about getting the Raptgo Hook X although it didn't make your list. (BTW thanks for helping me with my new hobby)
for many it is Quality>Quantity.
My current fav right now is the KATO, its suits my taste on my type of music :>
can't afford the Z1R, but from demo definitely king of bass.
Best I have so far is the Timeless, I always find myself smiling when I listen to my playlist.
Glad you like it!
Fave IEM for bass is the Truthear Crin collab, I certainly need more exposure to make a better call though
There is a one manufacturer who focusing on bass - IMR Acoustics (also using bone conduction motors for bass area). We highly appreciate if you can make some reviews on their production.
Is worth fhe eclipse or should buy truthear zero (blue) for the price?
I didn’t use a lot of IEMs. But so far Moondrop Aria is awesome in bass response.
I have half of the iems from this video. You forgot to mention the Focus EDM, these are true basshead iems. Interested in Mysterious Bass Canon. Bass S12 is better than Timeless?
Don't have any of the IEM mentioned, but will love to try Truthears Zero & Moondrop variations
For bass i like the BLON BL 03
Yo same
With the timeless do you need a dungle dac or the dungle from apple is ok?
Considering Tangzu Zetian Wu having the FR graph nearly same as that of Ikko OH10, would you recommend it for a basshead?
which one of these have the widest soundstage?
My fav bassy iem would be the blessing 2 dusk since it's the only iem that I have that really have that punch to it.
Love more CCA than Timeless... do you think Ikko is still a upgrade for CCA CRA for me?
absolutely
My preference would be the Shuoer S12 or Yanyin Canon with bass switch on. Beats out pretty much everything I have heard around their price range.
Hi! thanks for this video. But why didn't you talk about KZ ZAS?!
They are super bass number 2, after Fatfreq Maestro Mini
My Bass King must be the OpenAudio Mercury 😍
Where can you buy the fatfreq?
A site is in Singapore is quoting 600 us.
Is that right?
