    I love my M11. I went for the black, because of the weight difference (and it didn't feel cheap at all ;) ).
    I mostly use it @ 36mp mostly because I feel I have more shaky images at 60mp (maybe it's just in my head...)
    The 3 things that made me choose the 11 instead of a 10 are the USB-C port, the battery life and the 64 internat memory (which I don't understand why it's not present in every camera).
    Nice vid as usual :)

    Cracking video mate. Just watched yours and Fred Ranger’s vids and aside for the extra dynamic range it’s definitely the little perks of the camera that peak my interest more. The metering and internal memory are the two I would love to upgrade for, although I may need to wait a while before I upgrade from the m10 😅

    I really like your analysis. I think the new camera was most likely a ground-up redesign, internally, and clearly represents a major step forward in Leica’s journey toward making a full frame digital M a true worthy successor to its historic (and current) film-based M bodies. Plus, of course, the digital M actually out performs its analog cousins in many respects. The flip of the buttons left of the rear screen was done in order to bring the design into conformity with the SL2/Sl2S and Q2 models so that users can seamlessly shift from one to another. By the way, the black M11 is a bit over 5 ounces lighter than the M10 models (18 vs. 23.2) and 4 ounces lighter than the silver M11 (22.6 ounces, so, much closer to the M10). For comparison, the MP weighs 21 ounces and the new M6 weighs 20 ounces. Given that so much of the user experience depends upon lens choice, I’m not sure how much difference an ounce or two makes. I think it comes down to a choice of finish preference. Best wishes for accomplishing your interim goals and acquiring an M11!

    • @Goughie
      @Goughie  Рік тому +2

      Yes! I’ve since read into the weight differences! I have no complaints at all with the weight of my M10, so silver is definitely a consideration! Maybe brassing is what will sway it!

    With overall darker exposure and a white balance that tends towards cool magenta, it looks like the Leica M11 is close to a Fujifilm camera in terms of jpeg output standards. I like a blue sky over a green one so I tend to that myself, but I do like how your M10 exposes.

    I just got my M11 silver but haven’t tried it yet. I’m thinking of taking it to Lisbon during Christmas holidays to try it out and see if it could possibly replace my current Fujifilm kit (X-T3, X-Pro3, X100V & GFX 50R). It seems like it has the potential to do so and it would make a huge difference taking a single M with a couple of M lenses instead of my GFX & X set while travelling. Apart from that I’m quite tired of Fujifilm caring more about UA-cam influencers than actual photographers and crippling all their current bodies with features that compromise image quality & user expereince for convenience (f.e. PDAF, IBIS, video…). Leica doesn’t seem to do that at least with their M system.

    • @Goughie

      I was talking to someone the other day about how the limitations of an M is part of what makes the experience
      However for a while the M240 annoyed me as it was my only camera, and the limitations became frustrating
      My current M10 sits alongside my XH2S and I have a much better relationship with the M10. Limitation but as a choice seems to be the sweet spot

    I borrowed a brand new M11 with 35mm lens a few days ago. I wanted to see what was so different about Leica and the always talked about ' Leica Look'. I have compared very detailed shots of the new M11, a Sony A7iii and Fujifilm XPro3. Aside from resolution, i seriously cannot fathom the extra $10000 price tag for the Leica. Sure the image is much higher in megapixels, but honestly all 3 cameras produced roughly the same quality photo. I appreciate that people like to purchase high end brands as they like prestige gear, but......i do not see it being worth it. For anyone stuck on the fence about getting a Leica camera, I can honestly say that if you have the money do what you want. i have the money to purchase a few of these M11's but to be brutally honest I cannot see any reason aside from social image status to own one. i have tested dynamic range and processed the photos like any normal consumer would and I would bet nobody reading this could determine which camera made which photo. Note to newcomers, DO NOT get caught up in the leica hype. Like all other mirrorless bodies, they are just sensors and a lens like any other mirrorless camera. After shelling out $10,000 plus for a leica, you are kidding yourself if you think your photos are superior to anything else a fifth the price on the market. Dont believe me?......rent one and see for yourself. I have leica raws and I could tell you they came from a sony a7iv and you would believe me as they look like any other camera. UA-camrs seem to pushing the Q2 at the moment, avoid it at all costs. You are not getting a camera that is superior in any way. Leica cameras do have once strength that none of the other brands have yet to achieve. Their bodies and lenses drain your wallets very quickly with no noticeable benefit to the owner. Maintenance on leica is insanely offensive too along with accessories. I dare you to prove me wrong.

      I think you’ve missed the point, image quality isn’t the only reason to choose a camera, if it is then of course other cameras are better choices, you’ve missed that many people just want to enjoy using a camera that feels great and makes them want to shoot.
