they asked her what she would do with the money if she won Holland got talent and she did win...she said poor kids in South Africa don´t have playgrounds and I will make them a playground with the money..Amira has opened a playground, which she funded with her own money, for the children in Ikageng Township in Potchefstroom, near Johannesburg in South Africa. and more playgrounds.
I loved Amira she was 9 or ten years old, she went to south Africa, and still helps children all over the world to be a be a child, thanks higly for bringing this memory ❣️
Extra note: Watch Andre he is conduct watching her. Amira is the lead and conducts accordingly to her mouth. Giving her chance to breath. On that part shows professional, that Andre is.
That venue is a square called "The Vrijthof" in Andre Rieu's and my hometown Maastricht, The Netherlands. It's roughly 100 x 100 meters (328 x 328 feet) in dimention, and has place for around 18,000 seated fans. The square is surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants and they add another 1,500 seats. Andre Rieu in 2014 gave 8 concerts there, so the total attendance was above 150,000 people from all over the world. I was there too, and then 10 year old Amira sure was killin' it.
My dad always listened to classical music, always watched Andre Rieu and always watched the New Years Concert from Vienna. Something i certainly didn't appreciate as much as I do now. always makes me miss him. He always loved Andre for making music a party.. Normally everyone is very stiff when it comes down to classical music. At concerts Andre gives often there are jokes from him, the musicians and people are dancing. This gives a whole new appreciation for the music. Look at the success they have all over the world. It is really great =) From Mexico to Australia people love Andre and the whole crew.
Hi again “ highly combustible “. As mentioned many times in the comments below, Amira was self taught by watching UTube videos. To add to those comments, she watched the likes of “Pavarotti “ and mimicked the mouth movements & even the breathing techniques. At the age of about 7, & coming from a household of classical music, she decided to teach herself Opera. Not only has she taught herself to sing Opera, she does so with a voice of an Angel, with perfect voice control & with a vibrato that often takes years to develop. And how does such a tiny person ( 10 in this performance) have such power & breath support? Also, before singing in a foreign language, she studies the lyrics with the help of her brother who translates them via the internet, so as to know the full meaning of the Aria & is then able to put the necessary emotion into the performance. This is so evident in every thing that she sings. One of her most amazing attributes is that whatever range she is in, she does so Effortlessly & without straining. I’ll mention just one performance, as I see by other recommendations you have plenty to keep you going “Nella Fantasia at age 12. ( the live concert performance) Cheers, & welcome to the Amira Willighagen fan club which is in the millions. Graeme.
She tought her self by watching youtube video's She had never had vocal training before she got on Holland's got Tallent (2013 when she was 9). Mom and Pop had nothing to do with it, this girl just went on youtube because she wanted to do something like her brother. (he was playing the violin) On youtube she found opera (at the time she was 7) loved it, wanted to do that and tought it to her self in her bedroom. So in 2 years she tought her self to sing opera like this to herself, in her bedroom and won Holland's got Tallent.... Completly AMAZING 2 me!
Amazing Amira 🥰 She was 10 years old here and only had a few lessons in (opera)singing to this point. She started singing opera when she was about 7-8 years old, at local flee-markets like ‘Koninginnedag’ (Queens’s day) in the Netherlands and performing with her parents and brother (whom are all very musical). She asked her mother to participate in Holland’s Got Talent, but her mother wanted her to wait till she was 9. When she eventually participated she blew Everybody away (and the rest is history….). She has since started her own foundation and now lives in South-Africa. Just a very short introduction 😁, but there are a few very interesting documentaries (with English subs) on YT 🙏🤗
She was 9 yrs old on Holland's Got Talent. Here, I believe she's 10 yrs old. At 9, on Holland's Got Talent, she stated she had never had a singing teacher, had no training whatsoever. She listened to this song on UA-cam and learned it. I believe her. #LEGIT
Amira is here 9 years old. Thanks for sharing this one. I enjoy it everytime when i see Amira so little. She is so sweet ahhh... She liked opera and sang for queensday at the park. De language did she learn (fonetisch). It's a little girl with an old soul. I swear!! She won Hollands got talent at the age of 9 years old. Excuse me for my english language. Speaking ore writing are twoo things hahaha lol. She learned this song at home without lessons, because she loved it so much. It's in Maastricht Netherlands. Andre Rieu is a Maastrichtenaar. Amira is Dutch too...but lives now in Africa. And from here earned money se spends a lot for the children out there. With loving greetings from Zaandam.
Great video...much respect for the little child...saw her in tv shows years ago.....proud from the netherlands... Also Andre Rieu is so famous all over the world.. Thank you for looking at and share with the world... She s amazing....fantadtic and sweet kid... Thanxxx👌🙏
She first appeared in Holland's got talent, with this song. Her brother played the violin and she wanted to do something with music. She look on you tube and found opera music. Because she liked it, she sang with the video's. That's how it started and yes she had had singing lessons, but the talent was definitly there.
@@mauijttewaalI haven't heard that she ever performed together with Andrea Bocelli, but if she has done so, I definitely have to see it. They are the perfect combination of soprano and tenor. What I like about Andrea Bocelli is that he has a relatively soft and light voice compared to many famous tenors I've heard. He still has depth and energy, but because his voice is softer tjhan those of other tenors, his higher notes don't sound as loudly. That doesn't make his voice too dominant and gives the instrumental part more room to shine as well. And I see a kind of female equivalent of him in Amira Willighaegen among the sopranos, because she sounds lighter and softer as a soprano than most others. They would be a perfect match for a duet. A new version of 'Time To Say Goodbye' is probably the song for Amira to try out together with Andrea.
An amazing natural tallent, she decided that she would like to sing something for Queens day in Holland so went on youtube and taught herself to sing her favorite bits of opera. I love the camera shots of the audience sitting in stunned silence trying to hold back the tears. God bless you Amira, you are a ray of sunshine.
Every time I go to my parents house in the evening they're always watching André Rieu on Sky Arts in the UK. He does some banging concerts if I'm honest.
Can you imagine the pressure on this 9 year old girl having a full orchestra with choir and world famous conductor all there to back her up! Then that audience. And she just brushed that off and gave that level of performance. All this is just part of who she is. Check out some of her interviews with English subtitles. You will see what I mean. Good reaction to.
@@waynemeredith4287 Hey no problem. There was a video from the same show Andre said after the performance not bad for 9. That is when he issued this one that does not show that. I just thought you would want to know the truth. I love how she is captioning the hearts of all ages. Have a good day.
This hits me everytime I hear her singing this song. She is amazing. Went together with my mum to a concert of Andre Rieu just before the lockdown last year.
Also a shout out to her brother Fincent,(2 yrs older than her). He has been by her side since she started and helped her with translating different songs for her and also designed many of the playgrounds for her among other things. He has never stopped assisting her.
She taught her self to sing opra by watching on youtube. Her family, father, younger brother and mom are all musicians and she wanted to do something to. She chose singing opra. 😊❤️
If you want a bit of an idea of where she gets some of her inspiration from, check out Andre Rieu with Brazilian opera diva Carmen Monarcha doing this same aria. Carmen was a featured soprano with Andre for a number of years. I for one could never get enough of her singing. Good as she was, and she was brilliant, I do believe Amira has surpassed her. Carmen is now back in Brazil with her own opera company and is also teaching.
Her first ever performance for an audience was at the audition of Hollands Got Talent and it will blow you away! You have to see it :) And the following later performances of her are breathtaking: Amazing Grace, Nella Fantasia, Hallelujah, Ave Maria and the Flower Duet.
I love Andre's concerts, i have 24 of his dvd's, beautiful music.. This was sure a great performance. Nothing like being ten and getting a 15,000 person standing ovation. Just a little input. This is not a band, it is an orchestra. A band is like electric guitar, drum set drumming. Like a rock band. An orchestra has percussion, violins flutes, clarinet's, etc.
Have the pleasure of owning the DVD of the entire concert, which I received a few days ago. Amira was 9 when she performed on This night,as announced by Mr Rieu himself,in her introduction. She was utterly astonishing.
On this show she had just turned 10 years old. Amira taught herself to sing by watching You Tube, then she went on to win Hollands Got Talent. No one could believe she was only 9 then and had no training whatsoever. Brilliant!
Mom and Dad had nothing to doe with it ! ... she just watched music on youtube and got interested in this type of music ! ... aint it amazing ! ... b.t.w. ... she is a beautifull young lady at this moment .... and ... nice of you to comment also on performences like this !
Some of us believe this was the greatest operatic performance ever recorded by a 10-year-old. Amira is now 17 and you might enjoy some more recent performances. She sang Nessun Dorma in South Africa at the CIG concert in 2017. Nella Fantasia is a good example of classic-crossover and for a musical, her medley from the Sound of Music.
There is a version with subtitles with her complete audition on Holland got talent. Filmed before, the audtion and the comments of the jury There you find answers on your questions. And it is out of this world so good🤩
Amira's well-trained soprano's technical prowess is unheard of at the age of 10 - and the voice of an amazing child prodigy is heard. Very early on, Amira's vibrato and squiro virtuosity is miraculous, touching the hearts of listeners and giving the whole audience a standing ovation.
She learned this by watching UA-cam video's. There is a video of the Holland got Talent show with english subs with this same song but that one is blocked from the Netherlands so I can not give you the link. But the intro explains it all
Great sweet reaction!! Amira and André are both great musicians. And even the personal lifeguard from André knows me. Have spoken him many years ago about André and years later i saw him and he recognized me from the years before. That was so cool!
Andre Rieu is a spectacular showman, whose concerts are sold out worldwide. You commented during Amira's performance that "This is impossible". You said the same thing about Angelina Jordan's version of "What a Difference a Day Made". Well, the impossible is represented by these young ladies just doing it! Long may they sing!
Just before Amira's South African grandmother passed away she said that Amira was a gift to the world. She said that apparently when Amira was only 9 years of age. No truer a word spoken about this beautiful remarkable young lady. God has truly blessed us with this precious soul. Love your reactions to Amira. A big thank you.
André is such a big artist world wide that when he build this podium for his concerts that he hat to made 2 the same ones. The one he whas playing on whas ready and the second whas already on his way for the next concert. Must you think about how many personnel he has on his payment list for a monthly salary. One podium contains 33 sea containers the big ones like on a mearsk containerschip. Wauw .
Her first performance at Hollands got Talent was spectacular 9 years old - she said that her brother plays violin so she wanted to do something too so she searched songs at youtube and just started to sing her favorite ones like O Mio Babbino Caro , she learned by herself and the jury jaws just droped
There are quite a few gifted young opera singers out there more than you would think Jackie Evancho isn't a child now but she started as one on AGT she is self taught also but took lesson later same as Almira ,there's some who trained then went on talent shows like Laura Bretan, Sofia Asgari, Sterre van Boxtel , Beau Dermott and one of the latest Emanne Beasha she's 12 now but she's been doing other things besides opera but 12 very beautiful and powerful voice grandmother told her parents to take her to opera lessons cause she was a loud baby LOL !!
First of all.. I love your pure reactions, straight from the heart and your beautiful soul. You should definitely listen and react to Andre Rieu, Kimi Skota-My African dream. In loving memory of Nelson Mandela. Sooooo beautiful and moving.
It's in my city, the most beautiful city, Maastricht. Andre is also from Maastricht in the Netherlands. My son is growing up with all kinds of music and he loves from when he was small also classical music. Adults are sometimes ignorant because they don't take the time anymore to teach the children that there is more in life than a telephone and a computer
She was 9 at this concert. She has a natural talent, and prior to Holland's got Talent, which she won, she was entirely self taught. She had started receiving coaching just before this appearance, and Andre Rieu had given her some help too, about holding the longer notes for example. Beautiful performance and all credit to her. Her parents were musical, insofar as they played instruments, sang in church, that type of level.
She is 10 here. She was 9 at Hollands Got Talent. There once was a video were Andre made a mistake saying she was 9. That is one reason he reissued this one. This took place July 2014 Birthday March 27, 2004. Otherwise everything else super comment. She was then and still is a gift to us listeners.
Your comments were fantastic particularly about parents. We shouldn't set the bar too high for our children but we do need set some kind of bar. In Britain I have heard of a teacher who said she would just teach the children music from hip hop and pop because that's all they knew and all they had heard. That I would venture to suggest is not so much setting the bar low as placing it on the ground. Imagine if girls could hear Amira and the boys could hear Pavarotti. But they never will if this teacher and others like her have their way. Don't make their decisions for them. How on earth or any other planet do you know whether they ,one, might really like it or two, have a real aptitude for it.
1. Her parents and grandmother had been encouraging her for a good while, and they, of course, were her biggest fans in the pre-public part of her life, BUT before she began singing, she won a cross-country race in Holland, there's a video showing her running and winning. That's where her breathing control originated, a year or two before she won Holland's Got Talent. 2. Her brother, Vincent, (Fincent in Dutch), began taking Violin lessons, and, like any little sister, she wanted to compete with him, so she decided she'd sing instead. So, sibling rivalry played a part in her singing. But as we all know, their whole family is very close; there's rivalry, but no jealousy that II can see. 3. She went on Holland's Got Talent in 2013, at the age of nine, (her birthday is 27 March,) and won. I watched the video of that, and my opinion is that there was no one more surprised than she was. She was encouraged to enter the competition by her parents and her grandmother, and, again, my opinion is that THEY weren't surprised at all when she won. 3. Now you know who Andre Rieu is, he has a marvelous show "on the big square in Maastricht", and has had for years. A friend of Rieu's saw the HGT competition, and called Rieu and suggested that she be on Rieu's show. So, Rieu called her at home, and offered her an appearance on his show, and offered her a master's class before the show, I think that took about a week. The performance in this video was the result of the master's class. 4. The resulting publicity from that performance is what really jump-started her career; she began performing all over the world. 5. As I write this, she is 18 years old, and I hope you have managed to see some of her more recent performances. She is still developing, her voice has become more powerful, and even clearer. and she is fulfilling the promise. of her childhood in spades. I hope I caught all the typo's, this is not as easy for me as it once was. I'm 76 now, and I have cataracts, which the VA tells me are not going to be a problem to remove. So I'm looking forward to watching, and listening to, many more videos about Amira.
Highly Combustible, I told you that you would be blown away!!!!!!! Isn't Amira wonderful. Such fun seeing you experience this for the first time as I experienced it for the 100th or more time--it is almost out of this world!! BTW, her parents played (organ, violin, etc) classical music all her life. At age 7 she wanted to go on Holland's Got Talent, but her mom said for Amira to wait till she was 9. The rest is history. Also, that venue at Maastricht was outside--it is the town square--FYI. SO glad you enjoyed it!!

He has done Nella Fantasia and sound of music
One must check out Amiras performance of Caruso, from Amiras streaming concert last fall. It's now available on UTube.
There is a version with subtitles with her complete audition on Holland got talent. Filmed before, the audtion and the comments of the jury
There you find answers on your questions.
Thank you for your reaction sir!
Um anjo que veio para nos emocionar, Linda Amira ❤️
You should hear her "nessun dormo" that will truely wow you, she's around 9 here.
Listen to Nella Fantasia. Even better.
She learned this by watching UA-cam video's. There is a video of the Holland got Talent show with english subs with this same song but that one is blocked from the Netherlands so I can not give you the link. But the intro explains it all
ua-cam.com/video/qDqTBlKU4CE/v-deo.html
Here she's so much better already than the first time I saw her. Her voice has more power.
A few lessons from Rieu here.
Just graduated from High School as a Valedictorian, going on tour.
Great sweet reaction!! Amira and André are both great musicians. And even the personal lifeguard from André knows me. Have spoken him many years ago about André and years later i saw him and he recognized me from the years before. That was so cool!
She was 10 and learned to sing true you tube, believe it or not. With 13 she did Amazing Grace check that out its out off this world. She is 17 now
Andre Rieu is a spectacular showman, whose concerts are sold out worldwide.
You commented during Amira's performance that "This is impossible". You said the same thing about Angelina Jordan's version of "What a Difference a Day Made". Well, the impossible is represented by these young ladies just doing it! Long may they sing!
She was nine years when she won "hollands got talent" . This is short time later.
Love that, she and Emma Kok are mind-blowing.
Wauw .
She’s only 9 year old this is genius
This is breathtaking, she sings so good, unfortunately she didn't sing when i visited a concert from Andre Rieu
A member of the British Royal family in the audience too, standing and clapping at the end.
The Queens granddaughter Zara...
Amira willinghaven ,wauw old soul love it .sche is from holland nijmegen .like frank boeijen. . Great great voice.
Her hole family is classical trained!!!!
Everybody is born with a gift.... But the big question is: Which one? 😉
check her out doing the Flower Duet. She is a bit older and even more awesome.
Her first performance at Hollands got Talent was spectacular 9 years old - she said that her brother plays violin so she wanted to do something too
so she searched songs at youtube and just started to sing her favorite ones like O Mio Babbino Caro , she learned by herself and the jury jaws just droped
Its probably already said, but I thought Amira get known with HGT. She nailed it there to!
I just saw you did that one from HGT 1 month ago 🤦♂️🤣 so nvm
@@wepsTRX HxC did the Semi-Final. Not the tryout and final
@@passqualecaiazza7728 oh lmao
Rieu is Following her not conducting separately. He has nothing to offer Beauty of this magnitude.
First of all.. I love your pure reactions, straight from the heart and your beautiful soul. You should definitely listen and react to Andre Rieu, Kimi Skota-My African dream. In loving memory of Nelson Mandela. Sooooo beautiful and moving.
Awsome
She´s an old soul
Utter then the fact that this is a stellar performance by her.
You should give Andre Rieu a chance for a HCX journey....
Now you know why this video is still gaining 2 million views a month. On Dec 1, 2020 it was 40 million, it is now 54,105,000 views.
Agree. But, in this case Amira trained herself watching You Tubes
She was then and still is a gift to us listeners.
your fase priceless do not forget to close your mouth at the end i look it twice
Amazing reaction, man! Amira's live rendition of Amazing Grace is definitely a HxC video. Please, chek it out. Keep up the great work!
SHE IS 12 HERE YES SHE WAS BORN WITH THE GIFT
No she was ten
Highly Combustible, I told you that you would be blown away!!!!!!! Isn't Amira wonderful. Such fun seeing you experience this for the first time as I experienced it for the 100th or more time--it is almost out of this world!! BTW, her parents played (organ, violin, etc) classical music all her life. At age 7 she wanted to go on Holland's Got Talent, but her mom said for Amira to wait till she was 9. The rest is history. Also, that venue at Maastricht was outside--it is the town square--FYI. SO glad you enjoyed it!!
She will be 18 at the end of March 2022
and still singing
❤
You now know about the provincies of the Netherlands, Rieu comes from the south, Zuid-Limburg, capitol Maastricht, this is a concert on Vrijthof, a thank you to his hometown and people, Listen to the Ode to Maastricht- Andre Rieu ft Benny Neyman
