Building a SHIP from PLANKS in Teardown! Will it work?

- So last time in Teardown we created a bridge out of wooden planks. This time I wanted to see if I can use planks to turn a boat into a ship in Teardown. Planks float, and so do boats, so combining the two should work right? Can you build a pirate ship in Teardown? Are planks good for engineering structures? We will find out in this episode! i’ve re made a tank with planks once, didn’t last long XD
How to build a boat:
Step 1 - Get a shotgun
Step 2, drag boat across ground
Step 3, Detroy a Boat
Step 4, blow up your local bridge
Step 0 get a boat
Step 5, steal all the planks in town.
Since they have the "lift" mechanic, and it obviously elevates you slightly on the water, the logical thing to do would be to attempt building a flying machine.
That would be cool but I tried to make a helicopter looking thing in the game and it gets heavy fast so its hard to lift it off the ground kind of like how he couldn't get out of the water with his raft.
a lot of people have done this, would love to see him do it
the only problem with that is that one plank would be just as good as a whole plane

11:55 that could be a legit speedrun tactic. I wonder if the wood from the dock floats. B/c then you could just slice off a piece of the dock and voila! Instant speedboat

It's basically just prop surfing, a common mechanic of most valve games. Although this isn't a valve game.

After seeing you build a boat, I would love to see you play From the Depths. It's learning curve is a bit more of a wall than a curve, but it's a really fun game.

The only reason why I'll get this game is to build tbh. Don't get me wrong, the distraction physics are some of the best out there. But I feel like there could be a huge community of builders in this game. I hope the dev expands on building eventually.
I love how seven minutes in he is trying to get the forklift across realizes he can load it on a boat with the crane then instead of using one of the large ships to transport the forklift to his boat to build it he instead goes to build the boat without the forklift he needed to build it to load the forklift 😂❤️

You need to build a whole block of planks under the ship to give buoyancy and then build the ship structure on top of that. Can’t wait for part 2!

Maybe would be a good idea to hide another boat in the front end of the ship and connect the two, just drive the back boat.

Do two boats, one in the front and one in the back. It is fun watching these projects, keep it up man :)
In the game Stormworks you can design your own ships from scratch, and it uses actual buoyancy modeling to determine how it floats. You design the propulsion layout and electrical systems too.
Drawback is that it's not a destructable-voxel world, and there's not even physical deformation of boats upon damaging, just decals/fire iirc.
It's still neat though; I made a pretty realistic and functional oil tanker... and then attached jet engines to it and made it fly. (The aerodynamic modeling isn't all that realistic either).

The speedy raft thing is also in Skyrim, but instead of standing on planks, you stand on a corpse! I used to make a game out of seeing how long I could "sled" on the corpse before falling off 😆

Tip: you can throw objects by left clicking while holding an object, u can also hold the object further or closer using the scroll wheel

Teardowns next thing they need to do survival mode
Any wood planks you have above the water add to the weight, not the buoyancy. In theory because there isn't a drag you should be able to make a hydro sail. BTW wood planks burn rather quickly so it might be fun to set your creation on fire.

Welcome to speedrunning Half-Life 2 the old school way
If you stack 2 planks on top of each other ( in order to make it not fall through the map place it on a wall let it fall and break the top) than you put the other plank on it stand on it, once you grab it and lift your camera (only a little) you will start to fly

try making a simple plank plane becuase i've made those many times and this is what you do
step 1:make an angled plank on something that doesn't get broken from a sledge hammer like bricks or metal
step 2:make a flat plank connected to the other plank and break off the connected planks edge
step 3:grab the angled plank by the tip and lift up and you will fly across the map
Hello there
I've been using this trick for quite a bit, but here's a tip. Make a board off the ground amd break if off said ground, put a plank on the plank amd stand on them while grabbing the first plank... and you are now on the other side of the map.
TLDR If you grab a plank attached to a plank while standing on them you hit terminal velocity
This would have been a good project to do at the boat ramp.

Well as long as the vehicle has condition it works no matter what, it can look like Swiss cheese but if it has condition then it can float

That plank bug is used in the actual game, by some people in some levels
Now do it with the yacht! Or make the yacht into a drivable ramp you can move to the bridge point and drive up.
You can use the same method you did for that raft to make an actually flying plank. I call it... a Harry Potter Broom!
You can count them, do a mission and edit the save file so you have idk 10,000 planks then you can do math easy
Funny thing is, is the forklift he looked at on the map is the one he went past
