The color change feels intentional. That battle from the first avengers is the past, and no longer the main focus, it shows how far they’ve come since then. I personally like it, it’s like if you look at background characters their usually not the craziest in details-
This is just what Russos do. Typical stuff. Even the rest of Endgame lacked color for most of the Earth scenes, especially the final battle. It's their style. So yes, it was intentional, not because Endgame had a different tone but because that's what they normally do in their films.

I noticed the color was dull on the endgame compared to 2012, even without comparison. I was just curious why, but the thing was that I wasn't sure if i trust my eyes after knowing about being colorblind but having this comparison it's really clear the difference.
People complaining about the "loss of color/quality" have no idea what they're talking about. It's desaturated not only to fit the grim tone of Endgame, but also because that scene is a thing of the past. It's not the highlight anymore, they're a mere backdrop against the ongoing time heist.

I understand having a different color grading for endgame, but comparing them side by side, it really does show the lack of color vibrancy showing through. I understand it matches the tone better and for audiences created a sense of “we’re in a dream” or “back to the past” but the color change almost visually shows their out of time, as if they’re in a dreamland or removed from time itself

Se puede notar la propuesta visual de Joss Whedon con lo de saturar demasiado las escenas (Eso queda evidente tambien en Justice League 2017). Ironicamente sus encuadres dan mas espacio a los personajes a comparación de la edición de los Hermanos Russo que se siente un poco claustrofobico el encuadre. (Cuando a Whedon se le conoce por recortar mucho los encuadres)
