This is a very high value demo. You demonstrated clean tones which made the guitar sound great and sold the guitar to me, and played a bunch of cool licks that made me watch it over and over so I could learn them. 👍
Thank you for this perfect demo. Went and tried it out myself and fell in love. Walked out with it and couldn’t be happier. Sooo much guitar for the money.
The last time I went to my guitar shop, I didnt need to buy another guitar but I just sat down and back to back tested several single cuts from Epiphone, Gretsch, and even a couple Ibanez. This g2215 just sang out above the others. It feels so much more solid than similar priced les pauls from epiphone and the character is very much there. There's not much that beats the ability to go from a pushed p90 to the Gretsch bark that comes with a "tron" pickup. It covers so much ground for the money.
@@repoman5581 It definetly weighs less than a full fat Gibson since its a slab body but its very comfy. It feels almost identical to the weight of my Mim Strat.
I have this guitar and it has a good tone with a Gibson shaped body and and fender feel to the neck with some great sounding humbuckers for 3 doors down and gnr and or ac/dc
I've had this guitar for about 3 weeks in the single barrel stain. I can't compliment this instrument enough. I have an American Tele and this setup provides the same playability at the Tele. It's a quality guitar, great neck, pickups and has lots of tone options with the P90 and Broadtron pickups. On a scale of 1-10, this is a 10 for the value overall quality of the instrument. I love it more every time I play it.
Gretsch is knocking it out of the park with these! What a smart move to just release it with the Gretsch logo and not the whole Electromatic thing. These streamliner series with the colors, shapes and pickup selections are getting me interested to get a new guitar for the first time in years.
First of your playing and tone are inspirational! Wow!! Second, I just saw this same guitar at a shop and was impressed… it just has an elegance to it. I like that they left the grain in the finish. Great review!
Yup, got one for $199 recently as well and it played well out of the box. I had to lightly file down a couple frets and use fine steel wool to clean up around some areas of the binding where there were some markings but it cleaned up fine. I did the 6-screw mod where you remove 6 of the screws in the Broadtron and, subjectively, it's supposed to have cleared the tone up a bit (*shrug* haha). Either way it sounds really nice and I'm still shocked at how crazy good a value this guitar is especially at the price I got it for (easily one of the best deals on a guitar that I've gotten). The tone seriously rivals that of a my favorite guitar out of the entire collection so far (the Godin Stadium Pro tele)
Best review of this particular guitar I have seen - and there are many. But this one is really notch. Thank you! And this guitar... riff 1 and I was sold. Mine arrived yesterday in Havana Burst. Now no one throw things at me, but - Gretsch made a beautiful Tele Alternative. Not an LP alternative my book: Slab of wood, 2 pickups, volume, tone, 3-way switch. And you're rocking and rolling. Or funkin it up. Or gettin jazzy wit it. This does it all. This one will stay with me.
I just got to say I had this guitar for about a year and a half, and it really has just become a mainstay in my playing. For anyone looking to pick one up it is totally worth it, and the only modification that I recommend is a bridge pick up swap. I know that can be kind of a dicey sentence because I am recommending the guitar but, truthfully, the bridge pick up, does hold it back in my opinion. It is just too challenging to get a balance in terms of output and tonality from the neck to the bridge. I opted to get it very cheap Wilkinson PAF style pick up for this and man did it transform the bridge sound. It also pairs very well with the neck pick up now.
I saw this in a Sweetwater Pro Gear mag and came here straight away. This channel was on top and I'm happy I clicked on it. It's one of the best videos on presenting a guitar such as this. Now all I have to do is return to Sweetwater and get one. Thanks, man.
I played one in a store, and the bridge puckup felt kind of weak and lackluster, but that could be just because the p90 sounded so amazing. I was womdering, is the rout for bridge pickup the same size as a normal humbucker? I think putting something hotter in there would make it perfect for me
I picked one up at Guitar Center a couple of months ago for $349.00 in Montgomery, AL in the USA. It's a great guitar. The main reason I picked it up was it was the first guitar on the wall I found that was in tune. For me the set up was fine off the wall. It's easy to play. It also looks good in person. It doesn't give me the impressions of being a cheap guitar. I like the way the P90s sounds but I am not too crazy about the Broad Tron pick up. I might swap it out later.
I picked up the G2215-P90 as my first guitar few months back. I wanted the Mint but couldn't find it anywhere local so decided to get the Sahara Metallic. It is a great guitar, I can't get it to sound like it does in the demo here by Guitarist but maybe someday I can. I bumped into it and it fell on its face and the pickup selector broke, the switch was plastic which I didn't expect so it is out getting fixed now. Can't wait to get it back so I can play again.
The switch itself is metal, the switch-tip, which screws on, is plastic. This is the case with most switches of this type even on high end guitars. Some Gretsches do have an all metal switch, but not this one.
I was in a guitar store this friday and from all the guitars for a small bucket this was a pretty good one. Easy to use, pick up & play and also the perfect backup guitar🙂
I bought the mint green version and the very first chord on that P90 almost blew my mind at the same time as it sounded just as I had expected and hoped. It is a lovely little no-nonsense rock guitar. I will swap that bridge for a proper Filtertron though.
