Dodge is your main defensive mechanic, but there is also rock solid for parrying and see through attacks for counter hitting to deal with incoming attacks. Personally I don't like souls. This is better, love the challenge of dodging, its fun! I also love the invisible walls- to stop us from wasting too much time exploring places that doesn't matter.
Hello everyone, this game originates from ancient Chinese mythological novels, which were completed 600 years ago. The story takes place in the remote and prehistoric eras of China, a time ruled by deities, with countless gods and immortals. The novel Journey to the West contains profound philosophies, Buddhism, life wisdom, and mysterious theology. In particular, the "Wordless Scripture" takes different interpretations of doctrines to an incomprehensible level. Perhaps, perhaps it is true that in ancient times, deities once ruled the Earth. I believe it.
This game is hard as hell for me but just the fact that I don't lose experience means so much I gave up Lords of the fallen after spurned progeny And I was one of the worst games I ever played I gave up Dark souls 3 after beating champion grundr And that game is genuinely good but at one point I was just like feeling anxiety over it not because the game scares me or anything. It's said before 2014 there's no "Game Of The Year" and people were only checking the best sellers. Then some self appointed judges started this thing and decide what people should and should not like. For me absolutely one of my favourites and I don't see anyone beating this game this year. I love JTTW and SunWukong and this is how I dreamt it to be. For me the best part is the story although others are awesome, too. The invisible walls, camera orientation and hitbox are regrettably flawed but they are tiny compared to other greatness. BTW, if you are really struggling, there are "wheelchair guides" that can assist you to journey through in a wheelchair but you lose the fun beating bosses yourself fair and square. There's also variety of ways to win, by poisoning, dodging. I even saw one beating Yin Tiger by solely dodging without a single attack.
finished the game last week, still in my mind all week. great freaking game. weird advice: when stuck with some bosses, Azure dust works a lot of time. hahahaha helped so much on Erlang.
Cool video.. just started 2 nights ago and it's GREAT.. I'm not a huge gamer so I find it to be rather difficult so far but I'm making headway.. slowly 😂❤
Game of the year by far First of all the gameplay incredibly fresh innovative and cool Story is great Visual incredible Challenging Game of the year so far for me
Well, sure, that deflects and blocks, but it has a 15 second cool down. That's why I lumped in with the abilities and said they were all ways to "counter" enemy attacks
Ff7 rebirth still has game of the year for me the only thing holding me back from giving it to wukong is its map design and lack of a map for the map design
Goty for sure there isn’t many games I’ve played through 3 times one after another just to get that platinum trophy, the most enjoyable game I’ve played in years
Everyone always says “souls like” when talking about this game but why does no one mention the much more obvious comparison that’s also from FromSoftware, Sekiro?! This is very much more like Sekiro in that it’s far more about skill than endless “builds” made for certain, very specific situations. Beating a boss is not about switching out armor and re-allocating sparks - although I’ve seen countless videos of people doing just that - it’s much more about becoming the ultimate skilled fighter and reacting to patterns to really punish your enemies. Just like Sekiro, by the end of it you feel like a total fighting champion not like you got the right skill points allocated. And, yes, I know allocating sparks is very much a game mechanic that can be a great boon to your arsenal but even just learning how to properly counter your enemies is much more rewarding than trying to build your character a specific way. This game is exactly what I was looking for since my favorite hack and slash game of all time is Ninja Gaiden 2 for the 360. Finishing that game on master ninja mode was the supreme achievement of my young gaming life and this game gives me the same feeling when I get that last hit on a boss I’ve spent countless hours trying to beat
Well the playstyle changes as you progress, because it gets harder and harder. At NG5+, I play very differently from back in NG2+, and yes I start to specialize based on boss weakness. Some bosses best just to blow away with a Yakusha spell binder set. Another might need yin/yang robe defense reduction set. Another might be stone parry set. Another might be chain ice freeze spirit set.
I've been a big fan of Sun Wukong for years now and when they announced a video game based on him, I was excited. I waited patiently for years to play it and it didn't dissapoint. Every point you made in the video I agree with it. The game is fantastic and hard to put down. But, I'm unfortunatly in a fork in the road. My first playthrough, I never unlocked the chapter 5 secret area. So I did two more playthroughs on NG+ in hopes to unlock everything and get all the trophies. But I didn't realized until I was in the chapter 6 of the game in NG++, that there was one peice of gear I was missing. The Venomous armband that drops from the Venom Doaist. I thought I had broken his four arms on my third encounter, but turns out I didn't. So now I am left with the choice of either doing a NG+++ where the enemies hit much harder, or just come back to it at a later time, perhaps when the DLC comes out. It's the only trophy I am missing aside from the Platinum trophy.
This is a great review. I always appreciate people who 100%-ed the game and then review. The folks who rushed finished the game or even not finished game could only wrote hilarious comments like "lack of diversity". Your review is very thorough, in-depth, thoughtful, and respectful. That's the real kind of review we all need.
the amount of content the developers poured on this game is phenomenal. we dont have any DLC yet but the quests are already insane. this is definitely a GOTY contender.
Great video. Definitely GOTY for me. I've got 3 trophies left for the Platinum. In NG+ now need to get those arms off that boss for the drop he gives and upgrade a few more things. It's been a treat
This is what i like. This is a true game review. You beat the game 3 times, and achieved the platinum trophy. Thank you for this man. I’m on chapter 4 and I love this game. I can’t wait for my second campaign.
Thanks, man! Dude, same. The Indiana Jones game looks so good. I grew up on those movies, so I can't wait for a new story. Especially in the form of a game!
I felt the satisfaction from beating a boss i've been stuck on, its something I look for in games and Wukong does it really well. Posted some of my fights, not very good but you can see the progression with each fight.
I would take beautiful looking invisible walls everyday over plain wall of bricks or straight death cliffs that unnecessary slows down the gameplay. You know that I mean.
GOTY for me! Really enjoyed the story, reading the portraits in the journal... My 2 main negative points: some invisible walls are awkwards, and I hate there are missable quests (including one that ruins the true ending if missed). But still an excellent story to unravel, gorgeous environment, the context of JTTW being very well depicted. Even Bajie looks cute!
You're wrong about one thing. There is parry mechanics here. Its called resolute strike, its gives you an invincibility frame and sheer through enemies attack
It’s insane how OP you are by the second playthrough. Erlang had me stuck for over a week during my first playthrough and just now I beat him on my first attempt in the second playthrough. It was real nice running thru all the chapters again and beating the dog shit out of every boss that gave me problems the first time around. Especially white clad noble lol
This is the ONLY souls like game I like. Mainly because armor progression feels rewarding with stats/ perks similar to Nioh and Wo Long. Main reason I dislike Elden Ring is because armor progression is so boring in terms of player power. No stats, no perks, no set bonus, only X defense... BORING
You play as part of wukong him self, like erlang said no one can kill him but himself. By reincarnation destiny one is wukong without memory that being keep by erlang. Off course the authority (budha and celestial court) know and try to keep wukong sealed or wear the cage again (bad ending). By tricking authority that his reincarnation is without memory so they can lured him again, wukong succeed in freeing himself. Now the dlc is what wukong action after that, is he will retaliate and waging war again or not is interesting.
Thank you! I work from home for my full-time gig, so its given me a lot of time to put it together the way I like. I would love to, but finding enough time to make a weekly video on gaming is already a challenge 😮💨. Hope I can get to that in the future!

i never played RPG/console game before, and it took me 4 hours and maybe 30 to 40 tries to finally defeat wandering wright. but i think they made it hard for a reason, if you can defeat wandering wright, then you are ready to play the game, it is like an exam, if you passed it, you have learnt the basics of the game and you are free to progress, it really helped for new players of this type of game like myself.
I wonder a lot why we wasn’t able to receive the spear of Red Boy after defeating him and his second phase. That would have been cool for a fire build.
One thing I like about this game is the the boss variation from easy to hard. Some games just have boss that are all hard from first boss till the end. Some games just have all easy boss. This game some boss can be hard some not. Some optional some side quest. The boss designs is also phenomenal. U never fight the same type boss after another except wandering wright and elder jinchi. Which similar but not truly the same. And some boss take like 1-2 minutes to kill and some takes 10 minutes.

GOTY or not depends on who is giving the award. If u ask IGN or Screen Rant they will award it last position looking at how biased they are.
They lost all credibility and everyone should ignore them. If it was up to them, the protagonist would be gay and his tail would be a butt plug. 😂
finished the game last week, still in my mind all week. great freaking game.
weird advice: when stuck with some bosses, Azure dust works a lot of time. hahahaha helped so much on Erlang.
Cool video.. just started 2 nights ago and it's GREAT.. I'm not a huge gamer so I find it to be rather difficult so far but I'm making headway.. slowly 😂❤
Game of the year by far
First of all the gameplay incredibly fresh innovative and cool
Story is great
Visual incredible
Challenging
Game of the year so far for me
I haven't played this game yet but i like it already
nice review but my game of the year is still Concord
The intro was a tale told by the old monke. The true story was Wukong killed himself to get rid of the headband.
“No way to parry” someone didn’t know about rock solid
Well, sure, that deflects and blocks, but it has a 15 second cool down. That's why I lumped in with the abilities and said they were all ways to "counter" enemy attacks
@@PowerHourGaming see through attack with smash stance is i-frame on demand. You can negate so many attacks using see through counterflow.
@@PowerHourGaming the back-step move is also with
Yin Tiger transformation is the true parry.
You can lower it to two seconds with the armor set and cd curio. Totally game changing.
Best game ive ever played
It’s game of the decade to me.
Ff7 rebirth still has game of the year for me the only thing holding me back from giving it to wukong is its map design and lack of a map for the map design
Goty for sure there isn’t many games I’ve played through 3 times one after another just to get that platinum trophy, the most enjoyable game I’ve played in years
Solid Review!!!
Thanks man!
I'm not a gamer, but you do really good review work. You should persist with this UA-cam thing - you have a good persona.
Wow, thank you. Hearing stuff like this really helps me want to keep pushing! I appreciate you watching and dropping a comment
@@PowerHourGaming Nah man - you're charming and sexy (no homo - I'm a dude).
I’ll second that. I expected a subscriber count into 100’s of thousands. Really exceptional work, real pro
@marchowe1629 lmao thanks dude
@79bull thanks man I appreciate it 🤘
Great video. Presentation as well.
Thank you!
Thanks for this review… it has influenced me to be open minded and give it a try. Downloading as I type 😎
GameScience was very clear before release that it is not a soulslike… And having finished it twice the closest comparison is devil may cry imo.
Yup, the Venom Daoist arm guards were the last thing for me as well. Didn't get them until my 3rd playthrough
After getting platinum myself, I can definitely say GOTY, maybe even GOTD (decade).
How does it run on PS5? I’m interested in this game but I’ve heard mixed opinions on how it performs.
@@Ncc0990 I actually played it on ps5 myself and it’s fine. Occasionally there are some frame drops, but nothing game breaking.
Yes, it is game of year for me and it is actually my Top 5 game of all time!
Absolute game of the year, no doubt,
Most definitely GOY for me, been waiting for a game like this and I think Phantom Blade 0 will be GOY as well even though we have to wait til 2026
BM Wukong is GOTY for me
This is a great review. I always appreciate people who 100%-ed the game and then review. The folks who rushed finished the game or even not finished game could only wrote hilarious comments like "lack of diversity". Your review is very thorough, in-depth, thoughtful, and respectful. That's the real kind of review we all need.
Thanks, man. I appreciate it 🤘
I’m new to your channel, but this was a great review! Subscribed
Thank you! And thanks for tuning in and subscribing!
the amount of content the developers poured on this game is phenomenal. we dont have any DLC yet but the quests are already insane. this is definitely a GOTY contender.
I’m on my third run through, chapter 4 and I enjoy every minute of it.
Amazing concise video! 😁 what an incredible game too!
Thanks man!
game of the year for sure, the depth of the story is fucking nuts
Great video. Definitely GOTY for me. I've got 3 trophies left for the Platinum. In NG+ now need to get those arms off that boss for the drop he gives and upgrade a few more things. It's been a treat
Thanks, dude. Oh yeah, it's gonna feel good snagging the platinum. Good luck!
@@PowerHourGaming Thanks man
This is what i like. This is a true game review. You beat the game 3 times, and achieved the platinum trophy. Thank you for this man. I’m on chapter 4 and I love this game. I can’t wait for my second campaign.
Hell yeah, man. Thank you, it means a lot to hear things like this. Gives me the fuel to keep going! Also, good luck on the rest of your first go!
@@PowerHourGaming please do more in depth reviews like this man. It’s refreshing.
I plan to 🤘
Loved this game recently finished it
Nice video, I agree with you! This will probably be the game of the year for me but I’m looking forward for the Indiana Jones game to
Thanks, man! Dude, same. The Indiana Jones game looks so good. I grew up on those movies, so I can't wait for a new story. Especially in the form of a game!
Man im allready waiting for that Dlc like a Junkey xD
Black Myth Wukong is destined to be GOTY! An absolute masterpiece!
At its core, games are about immersion and positive feedback, fun enough.
Wukong gave all these to me.
The Invisible Walls!!! They drive me nuts!
I felt the satisfaction from beating a boss i've been stuck on, its something I look for in games and Wukong does it really well. Posted some of my fights, not very good but you can see the progression with each fight.
Nice dude. Yeah, the natural progression of your skill feels super good with black myth
I’m on chapter 3 and it took me a little bit to realize that using a charged heavy attack is key to fighting these bosses
The game is really not that hard, it’s very well balanced in my opinion.
I’m on my 4th play through and I can’t stop
I would take beautiful looking invisible walls everyday over plain wall of bricks or straight death cliffs that unnecessary slows down the gameplay.
You know that I mean.
I can't wait for the new expansion DLC and what all it has the bring... They n the lab cooking up AGAIIIIINN
Hey Power, may I use some clips of this Wukong gameplay for a video?
Sure, bro. If the opportunity to toss my name in there to give credit arises, that would be much appreciated, too 🤘
@@PowerHourGaming Gotcha! 👌
Wukong’s got more tricks up his sleeve than David Copperfield
Last night I got to platinum it, took me 130 hrs to platinum this is definitely game of the year..
Gratz on getting platinum, dude
GOTY for me! Really enjoyed the story, reading the portraits in the journal... My 2 main negative points: some invisible walls are awkwards, and I hate there are missable quests (including one that ruins the true ending if missed).
But still an excellent story to unravel, gorgeous environment, the context of JTTW being very well depicted. Even Bajie looks cute!
Black Myth Wukong(BMW) is my GOTY🥰. Waiting for the DLC.😄
You're wrong about one thing. There is parry mechanics here. Its called resolute strike, its gives you an invincibility frame and sheer through enemies attack
That isn’t a parry you just said it yourself. You become invincible for a couple seconds and then land an attack.
After finishing this game, elden ring combat felt so janky and not so satisfying. Idk if it will goty but pretty sure it's gonna win some categories.
I agree that the combat is much more fluid in Black myth, but the variety of ways to play in Elden Ring is hard to beat. Both are amazing games
Right, dude! I loved every second of the clap back on the second playthrough
Now the dlc is what wukong action after that, is he will retaliate and waging war again or not is interesting.
the devs already confirmed before the game's launch that this is not a souls-like. i cant believe people still dont understand this
What a setup you’ve got, holy, can you make a vid on it perhaps?
Thank you! I work from home for my full-time gig, so its given me a lot of time to put it together the way I like.
I would love to, but finding enough time to make a weekly video on gaming is already a challenge 😮💨. Hope I can get to that in the future!
@@PowerHourGaming once you actually publish a video on your setup make sure to put up all the links to your setup, I really like the shelves on the sides of your desk, may get them, Thanks!
Shoot I got you now bud! I bought mine from Amazon about a year ago so I would check the store on there too, but here's the link
tribesigns.com/products/tribesigns-7-tier-bookcase-78-4-inch-extra-tall-bookshelf-classic-industrial-10-open-shelf-storage-display
Playthrough 1 = smash stance only
Playthrough 2 = thrust stance only (w erlang spear)
Thanks for the review. I will play it on the ps5 pro.
Should i play with English or chinese dub ?
No problem! They are both great. If you plan on 2 playthroughs, I would do English first, then Chinese second, so you dont feel like you miss anything when you are focused on reading. That's what I did, at least
On the end of cycle 6.. cannot stop playing this game.,
Am on round four and am still loving it
i never played RPG/console game before, and it took me 4 hours and maybe 30 to 40 tries to finally defeat wandering wright. but i think they made it hard for a reason, if you can defeat wandering wright, then you are ready to play the game, it is like an exam, if you passed it, you have learnt the basics of the game and you are free to progress, it really helped for new players of this type of game like myself.
Goty for sure!!!
Hands down the best combat ive ever played!
I wonder a lot why we wasn’t able to receive the spear of Red Boy after defeating him and his second phase. That would have been cool for a fire build.
Congrats! I platnuimed it after two play through. I slapped every boss under 80 death count. It’s on my page
Game is absolute the definition of Instant Classic
Anyone know the bosses name he was fighting to get the gauntlets?
Venom Daoist
