Did I miss something? One could argue that backing singers of either sex are often positioned on stage for more than just sound (in both senses of the word) reasons. Objectification is a part of who we all are, it's whether that's all someone sees another as that's the issue, the alternative can result in a bit of a sackcloth world.

I saw Barry in concert in early June 1975 at the US Naval Academy. He played this, saying it was just being released and did mention an uptempo version. BF (now DH) worked lighting (midshipmen handled all technicals) and said Barry was a real diva to work with for all the crews. I understand Barry adjusted his attitude over time and became a nice guy. And I still think this the most beautiful song he's ever written.

My mother has Barry's 1st - 6 or 7 records. I remember as a kid I would listen to them. I still enjoy his early music. Isn't funny how every 10 or so years, music is constantly changing?
What's not to like? As with so many other performers, Barry has simply reworked his greatest recording of all - he most certainly has not "sold out", & as it's his song, he has every right to do as he pleases with it. As for this 21st century "thing" about looks, he is ageing just fine to me - if everything in the world was based upon looks instead of natural ability, we would all be living on an infinitely poorer planet. Barry Manilow is one of the most gifted performers and songwriters we have been privileged to witness, & he will be judged on his legacy, & not his looks, thank goodness. Bravo, Barry.

It is so classical and we get to see you play the piano which is magical with all of your classical training and then to be able to sing at the same time. I love the line where the Stallion meets the sun. I love you Barry. Let us feel that way and you retire and do what you really always wanted to do. You do not sing very well any more and you can't dance or do other things you did in the 70's to the2000's. you are gorgeous, a man that any women would love to be with but can't. Found a 4 song CD DVD of Barry Manilow and thought, I need this. The arrangement of Could It Be Magic is a true wonder. My wife and I played it over and over.
Barry, you sold out to over stylized disco on this version! The original 1973 version brought tears to my eyes at 8 years old when it was released and still does today!

One of my very favorites, starting with the prelude. It is so classical and we get to see you play the piano which is magical with all of your classical training and then to be able to sing at the same time. I love the line where the Stallion meets the sun. I love you Barry. Let us feel that way and you retire and do what you really always wanted to do. You do not sing very well any more and you can't dance or do other things you did in the 70's to the2000's. you are gorgeous, a man that any women would love to be with but can't. Found a 4 song CD DVD of Barry Manilow and thought, I need this. The arrangement of Could It Be Magic is a true wonder. My wife and I played it over and over.

Nice video. Always been one of my favorite Manilow songs (yes, I know it is based on a classical tune). Wish I could see him perform live.
If those eyes dont capture and melt you, i respect his arrangement genius, yes the original is tops but this is a tribute to his arranging capabilities.
