I use a medium sized crosshair with a dot in the middle, the dot has 35% opacity so it doesn't block anything, but its visible enough that I can still long range one tap. I feel like I get the best of both worlds. I come from CS:GO and in CS you use the East and West parts of your crosshair by lining them up on the shoulders of enemies. You will always hit headshots in doing so, this is a habit that has been instilled in me since 1.6 and it honestly helped me out so much.

the smaller it is, the more time it takes you to shoot, the bigger it is the sooner you will shoot, if you have a tiny crosshair you will wait till you aim between their eyes, as if you shoot when its not on their face you will most likely miss, a bigger crosshair youll shoot sooner but might not be aiming at them or be able to see where the bullets are going
Also, some crosshairs want a gap to pinpoint the head whereas other crosshairs want the dot to pinpoint, which is actually somewhat different in terms of aim.
