We would never be able to stick to that budget. We've stayed at the All Star Music once and it was way too noisy. We went this summer with my wife and me, a college senior, teen and pre-teen, stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside with the dining plan and had park hopper and water parks. Spent way more than 1500. It was still worth the money.

It's completely possible to have a Disney vacation without spending a crazy amount. We are going this fall and our total cost for two of us is going to be around $1850 before food...so I'm assuming it will come out around $2500 or so by the end of the trip. This is for a 6 night, 7 day stay on property. Key tips are looking to visit during value season when prices are less all around, and stay at a value resort (we are staying at a DVC resort, but I budgeted in what the hotel cost would have been for a value resort during value season, as that is what we're paying to borrow the DVC points anyway). Going during a value season can also mean the airfare is less also. Save money on food costs by bringing along breakfast food with you in your suitcase. (We bring peanut butter, bacon, English muffins, juice, etc. with us and eat before heading out for the park), also keep in mind that Disney lets you bring your own snacks into the park, so take along some chips and granola bars in your backpacks to have as a snack instead of buying snacks in the park. This way you'll really only need to budget for one or two meals per day in the parks. Hope this was helpful to some - have a magical visit anyone going to Disney!! :)

The last two families are more like long weekends than vacations. WDW warrants at least 5 days, but I always stay at least a full week. Last trip was 12 days (2 days dedicated to travel)

January and February can get pretty cool at times. I've been there when the temps were in the low 50's, and that's cool to Floridians.

Park Hopper but it’s well attractive to the snow birds from the northern half of America to Canada in terms of the winter season because Florida is mostly warm year round

A commenter below mentioned how the Steakhouse is 2 dining credits. Yes on the regular package, but it actually states that they got the dining packages that includes the wine... this is a more expensive package, and does include the 2-credit restaurants as a single credit. The part about 5 nights/6 days = 5 days of dining is correct however. Disney doesn't cover your travel day (the 6th day) as part of the dining package. We got around this by buying a pizza (only about $20.00) to save our dining credits one night.

This can be done if A) you don't count airfare and B) choose the right time of year to go. Last time I went with my family it cost a fortune as it was Spring Break. Best time to go is around September, just after school starts, as many Disney packages (at least here in Toronto) offer free dining meals and discounts on Park tickets. I will be taking my kids out of school in end-September next time we go to save around $1000.00. The dining packages they offer are worth it. Going a-la-carte I think ends up costing you more...

Have to figure in flight/travel time. 4-day park hopper/water park tickets for 1 adult & 1 7 y.o., 5 nights Disney value hotel, Disney Dining, and flight all 2 months from now comes in at $3,181. That's just with 1 adult & 1 child and we're double what this video shows for nearly the same package as the 2nd group. Not booking, just comparing. DW ain't cheap.

The video stated that the meal plan included meals *per day*- which is incorrect. Your meals are counted *per night*, so a 6 day 5 night stay will only include dining for 5 days. It can really mess with the budget of a family while on vacation- it happened to us on our honeymoon almost 5 years ago. Luckily we had a buffer for food for an additional day. We should have read our paperwork more carefully, though our travel agent also should have mentioned it.
We know now, so our 5 year anniversary trip in June will have no nasty surprises- at least not with dining.

I assume the $1600 budget includes only hotel and passes. What they conveniently omit is the high price of food and beverages there. Even counter service you're talking $150 a day. Then there's transportation cross country from California at $2700 for four. Another $200 for incidentals, tips, souveniers, etc and you have a more realistic $5100 for even the most basic visit for a family of four who needs to fly in. Knock off $2500 if you live within a day's drive of the resort. Californians should stick to Disney Land if money is an issue.

You can only go during peak if you have children, this video is a little deceptive: 1) $1600 during peak season will not cover all your expenses, you can clearly see they did not go during peak, because they have jackets on, and during peak season Orlando is like an oven. 2) There are no lines which is impossible during peak. 3) The Rowe family had only had 2 TS credits but spent 3 TS credits how is that possible, Yachtmans steakhouse alone is 2 TS credits 4) Magic Express and Airfare is extra.

This is very misleading as it appears the Persins went to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios AND Magic Kingdom in one day, but notice the change of clothing on all of them and it is reasonable to assume this was recorded in several days. I have been to WDW many times and it is extremely unlikely that the Persins visited all 4 parks, 2 waterparks, and DisneyQuest as is suggested by their trip package. Bus service one way to their hotel from MK alone is 30 minutes. IF the bus is there and ready.

Not judging, but I feel the majority of people that complain about WDW trip costs are either parroting things they've heard others say or have no clue about planning a trip.
I've taken my family of 4 (5 on last trip) to the world three times since 2010. The highest I paid for any of the trips was $2,000. That covered the tickets, room, meals. We give the oldest two kids $75 gift cards that they are allowed to spend on anything. Once it is spent, they know not to ask. So, we are now up to $2,075. Add in tips on 5 table service restaurants, plus rental car & gas to & from, add souvenir purchases by the adults, you are up to close to $3,000. That is $3,000 divided by 6 days= $500 per day. Divided by 5 people= $100 per day. I do not think $100 per day is too much for the memories it will make.
Fast forward to next year, and we've priced a 7 day 6 night stay at Port Orleans Riverside for September. $3,000 covers tickets, meals, rooms for 5 people. Again, do the math. $3,000 for 5 people, to spend 7 days in a Moderate Resort is as close to reasonable as you could find.
My advice to people who are going for the first time, or who had a bad time before-
    1. Use a travel agent (we use kingdom konsultants)
    2. Skip the park hopper & water park option. If you have kids, park hopper can kill your trip. And you can swim at home.
    3. Be willing to go during slower times (February or September). If you have kids, that would mean missed school, but feel free to use that to bribe them into better behavior/grades. Going during value seasons will mean cheaper rooms and usually free dining.
    4. If budget is a huge issue, stay at Pop Century. It is very well themed. Has a great food court. Has dedicated busing. And is reasonably priced.
Those staying at $700 a night rooms at the Poly are getting no more park experience than someone paying $120 per night at Pop Century. They are basically paying five and six times Pop Century cost for the ability to ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. That point proves the adage that a fool and their money soon part.

+Brandi Harvey How the hell? My girlfriend and I are going for 4 days/ 5 nights and it's nearly $2,000 for us staying at the least expensive hotel.

$2,150 was a comment on two previous trips in which we paid for 5 people (2 adults-3 kids of which we only paid for 2 of them). We stayed at Pop Century. We used a travel agent. And went during a value season which gave us free dining. So, in short, that is how.

I'm not even staying inside the park and I'm spending 1600 and that's booking with Costco if I hadn't it would of been 2800 for me and my husband for 7 days. That's not even including the dinning plan! Or memory maker! But idc I love Disney I'll be there in 3 days 😁

+Brandi Harvey I've always stayed on the main loop and enjoy the experience each time. I've stayed off the park as well and the Disney experience was less enjoyable than staying at one of the resorts on the main loop. I've been for as little as $800 (

Disneyworld is nothing like that. They made it look like no one was there and that you can just skip to parks as you please. Four parks in a day! Come on... I wish it was like that :)

This price quote is bull crap, has nothing to do with time of year you go. I have gone to Disney in January for the past 3 years, 2 adults, base ticket (no hopper, no water parks, not to mention no spa or golf) , regular meal plan, (not deluxe), 4 days, 5 nights, moderate resort, not including air or extras, like tips or souvenirs, never less than $2,500. And to the person who commented on Gabby's post about the $100 airfare, I believe that was sarcasm...

I've visited Disney World 12 years in a row now, and this past February was our last visit. Hate to break it to you, folks, but it's no longer worth the visit. The nickel and diming from food and beverage to their retail shops, along with the the constant sea of humanity elbowing you every step of the way in every park, kills the magic. We initially went for our kids and along the way fell in love with Disney ourselves. But over the past 4-5 years, it has become unbearable. We reached our tipping point. It's a shame. We loved the place. But we've learned that extracting every dollar possible from their "guests" has long since become Disney's number one priority. Not sure Roy would have approved.

Wait till the next economic bust (coming soon enough). That thins the herd some. Also, February is much busier than other times of the year for various reasons, including increased foreign travel from places where it is their summertime. You can beat the food/beverage ripoffs by bringing a cup and getting water from a fountain, eating before you enter a park, and passing on the overpriced shops.

i have gone every october for the last 3 years. i have been in more peak months in the past and the crowds in october are practically non existent in comparison. we were able to get everything we wanted to do done by sundown at every park almost every day. and the cost for me is around 22-2400 for me and my wife and that includes everything except tips and souvenirs. i live in New Jersey and have driven the last couple of times and with the gas mileage of my car about 40hwy it cost less than a plane ticket for 1 let alone the 2 of us that went
