Thanks Dude! This information was not my own, had one viewer (David L) send me a new OPK file for the TI99Sim that was re-packaged. Then another (Johnathan K.) send me a quick video on how he used this tool to add BIOS files to an existing emulator. I then started playing with it and realized others may find it helpful :)
@@WagnersTechTalk Definitely considered the usefulness of renaming the app, changing the section, and switching icons, but it did not occur to me that I could package additional files such as BIOS files like you mentioned. That's awesome!
Hello Wagner Tech!! I just found your wonderful video, and I am struggling creating an OPK from a folder of files I have. COuld I ask you for some help, please? I saw one of your comments here saying that it's only a packaging tool, and that the game itself already has to be ported... but it being in linux, is enough to look as if it was ported already?
Yes, a developer would need to have built a version compatible with the RG350 already. Then you can use OPC to package the executable/binary with any other files needed.
@@WagnersTechTalk Ah thanks! I will stop banging my head then, as my knowledge stops at very basic IT tasks.... maybe I could get the people who made the Linux port of the game I'm trying to pass, to maybe port it to RG350, but who knows... thanks again!
Super informative. When do you anticipate it will be worth upgrading the firmware on the RG-350? There are now a few choices but the hassle of reinstalling all the emulators is the reason I am waiting. Thanks as always for the great RG-350 videos!
I honestly can't say. I spent a lot of time testing various firmware upgrades, infact created a full video on it only to find out during final testing that much was broken, never released the video and then the image was pulled. There is very little compelling reason, at this point to upgrade, from what I've seen. I suppose HDMI Output support would be something that might interest me to reconsider but at this time, stock is just fine and works well. I think it's great that folks are working on improving it, but if features that worked well in stock are broken after the upgrade then it's not something I can recommend nor demonstrate to others. I do hope someone can convince me otherwise. I am open minded about it and I do listen, much of the content I release/document are inspired/requested by viewers.
Hi, I'm trying to do the same thing with snes9x (I want to add joystick function) but I don't know what the GCW executable is, could you help me, good man????????
This is a packaging tool, you'll need the original .opk (compiled code that runs on OpenDingux) for it to work. With that, you can change icons, package additional files such as readme, data files, etc. into one single file. You can't use this to take an .apk (Andorid) and run it on the RG350m as .apk's are compiled for Android. I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but just trying to answer your question as best I can.
Depends if the package you're creating is built for OpenDingux (assuming you're talking about the PGv2). Keep in mind, this is basically a packaging utility. If what you're trying to run was compiled for the OS, it should run.
Wagner's TechTalk rather than having to go all the way into the nes rom folder to then access a game, is there a way to create an opk file of a .nes file so it can appear with an icon on the main games screen?
Hi Willy, thank you! But to answer your question, no an .apk file is for Android devices and OPC packages files for OpenDingux (.opk). Two entirely different platforms/compilers. Hope this helps.
This is a packaging tool. If a port for Half Life has been created for OpenDingux then it could be used, to add files, change icons, etc. But not to port from other platforms. Hope this helps.
Wow...nice finding dude! Looks pretty interesting and gives a good understanding about opk files. Like!

Great video young man!
lol - don't know about young, but thank you!
Great stuff, really like your channel - always informative and well presented - thank you!
Thank you for your kind words!

Can this be done for the ldk game as well? Very similar device that uses the same opendingux os. Awesome find! Great video!..
I believe so, I don't have an LDK but should work fine.
@@WagnersTechTalk thanks for the input. I imagine it will, are you running retro firmware?..

Do you mean the GCC GNU compiler? It's the build tool that is used to create the executable code.
How about Open-source games into OPK file that would work on a RG350m? Been trying with no luck.

@@WagnersTechTalk I actually tried with many with little success... There's a website with folks given it try with dge files

también se pueden hacer ports de juegos? y puedes hacer un tutorial en español?
Lo siento solo hablo inglés. ¿Qué quieres decir con puertos de juego?
