I see Mike's still very chill & rockin' his ponytail/long hair. One of my favorite moments with him manning the boards is when Bruce is telling S.Tyler to play a trill on his harp, & Tyler's telling him "Yea but it's on a different one" Bruce: "no its not" Mike's got the exact spot cued & plays it back. Tyler is right "Nice goin' Phraz" & let's out a vindicated laugh. Great episode guys.
The fact that Frank Filipetti used the stock O2Rs Mic Pres for James Taylors "Hourglass" is pure gold. This makes us aware again that a budget mike pre and a budget mic can not stop you from recording awardwinning records. Great news for home recording enthusiasts. Bad new for the audio industry.
Love the video and thank you for this it was fantastic. I don’t normally do this but can I make one suggestion? Instead of saying something like boy that’s got to be a lot of pressure, asking open ended questions and letting them tell you their own feelings will yield a better and more authentic answer. You ask a lot of questions based around with some type assumed information. Let them come up with their own answers. You’ll get a lot better answers that way. He didn’t really get to talk much from his own thoughts. Thank you again and I look forward to everything you’re providing. You’re doing a great job.
Spectacular interview. Can't wait for Part 2. Leaving this video with a handful of new information of how Mike gets the AC/DC sound. I was most surprised with the cymbals/overheads 2 types of mics, slow and far, and the EQ on the bottom snare. Def gonna try those things in the future.

Excellent interview, thanks so much! The main interviewer’s speaking voice sounds spookily like Joe Bonamassa!
Really enjoyed this. Lots of insight and wisdom and just general good advice here. Thanks!
Bravo :) thanks a lot guys for sharing that ! Mike is great and so sympathic ... all the best from France

Mike’s incredible!
awesome interview, both parts
I wish you'd asked him more about mixing Metallica. Reload is one of the coolest sounding records.
