Rich, glad you enjoyed the race. I have done Leadville 3 times. I did the race in 95-96 and again in 2010 at 50 years old. My fastest time was in 2010. I never broke 9hr but i did collect 3 buckles. Keep riding and you will beat your time....
The stoke in Rich’s voice when he’s talking about ripping down the trail is killer. That’s why mountain biking is so awesome….it basically turns you into a kid again. Thanks for recognizing us single speeders!! 🤘🤘🤘
These episodes are so much fun! I especially like Rich's genuine spirituality (if I may be so bold). His joy and humility, his sense of partnership. His peeps along side. Just great to see on youtube.
Having done Leadville in '13 and '15, this was really fun to listen to and brought back some great memories, thank you. Such a special race and I loved your descriptive recap. You nailed the great Colorado people, doing the race makes you feel like the whole state comes out to cheer you on....the BEST!!
Always love hearing about Rich's adventures. The worst part about any race is walking to the car afterwards. I did a half marathon Spartan race for fun and the car was like 2 miles away. I thought I was going to pass out on the way there hahaha
I feel your pain about getting passed by the leader! I still remember almost being to the Twin Lakes aid station when Lance Armstrong came flying past on his way back! Ridiculous speed by those pros!!
I am so glad that you did well Rich! GOAT! Story has been great so far, and can't wait for the Mayhem Recap video come out. Being someone that enjoys MTN biking, I would love to make this event one day. Biggest problem for me is living in Florida, no altitude and flat.
I’ve always said the same thing about humidity and altitude. After annual trips from St Louis to the Rockies for mountain biking, I’ve experienced this. Also, great to hear Rich is riding singlespeed!,
I’m so pumped for Rich… I hear how anxious he was and to get sub 9.. just proves how inspiring he is…congrats! I like hearing from Scott - his insights are so on point, he has the best POV..
I missed the King David reference in this one, but if it is the same ones from past podcasts, they’re the Day of War novels by Cliff Graham. Book 1 and 2 are on Audible along with the one about Caleb. Those are amazing books! Good luck getting a hold of the 3rd book. Cheapest I have seen it is $295 reselling on Amazon. I was also curious about the shirts… I browsed Mayhem Nation looking for them, but no luck.
High Five 100 Miler. 5 Colorado 14ers in ~100 miles, no GPS, no course. You have to land nav to 13 checkpoints in the designated time. 5 of those checkpoints being 14er summits around Lake City, CO.
Rich…. Get Specialized to get you a slot on the Abba Cape Epic in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a two man team race over 8 days. You will have ride a little bit more in prep.
Maybe split the media team into two and each team gets one half of the course to cover. Or maybe place people at different spots throughout the course. Just some thoughts.
I see you are bitten by the biking bug and we're all just waiting for you to accept your retirement plans as a cyclist. I'd say it's just a different flavor of suffering than crossfit.

Are you guys releasing a video documenting the race?

Rich’s impression of everyone in Colorado leads me to believe it’s a bunch of Mark Wahlberg impersonators at Leadville.
An e book would be awesome. This is great information, thanks so much Rich!
I could listen to you guys tell stories all day.
Very Impressive Rich! Putting yourself out there, doing something scary and challenging. And you killed it!! Thanks for sharing.

As a MTB-er and CrossFit fan, it's really cool to see the crossover. Mad props Rich!

So impressive! The Lance Leadville documentary is awesome. Really gives you some perspective of what the terrain is like.
Congrat Rich for not only finishing, but under 9 hours. Would love to see you get 10 belt buckles!
Rich you are so excited about the race- cool to see. You’re beaming 😁 sounds fun!
You should look in to the Leadman challenge… combo of the Leadville runs and rides.
18:00, that was Keegan Swenson who crushed the all-time record.

👏👏👏 Way to go Rich!! Loved hearing all about it!! You are great motivation to get out and try something new and challenging! Thank you!
Congratulations🎉 You crushed Leadville.
Hey Rich did you get to meet Roxanne Hall? She is a local and the 1st women to do Leadville 20 times. Great re-cap guys!
You should do the Breckenridge Epic next time.
Go to Scotland and lift the Dinnie Stones. 🤙
I once did a very hilly race as well and at time I don’t know what hurt more… walking or riding the hills
Rory, did you ride the Cheaha Challenge in Alabama? That's right in my backyard.
Congrats, Rich! This was a fun watch.
Great job Rich!!
Would love to know which King David books Rich mentioned also if the shirt will be sold again

Great job Rich, now its time for a full distance Ironman race.

Rich, check out Dylan Johnson. He lives in western NC and is a very good mountain/gravel racer. Very informative UA-cam channel as well
Rich come to Massachusetts and ride with my boys! NewEngland tech at its best!
I loved this
Ok, I’ll do it
@angelo, talk to Rich about animal-based lifestyle. Try that out for a while and maybe it'll help with his Leadville ride next year.

The 1000 mile buckle is 10 Sub 12 finishes. I did mine consecutively, but it's not required.
God Rich you look so Slim!!!! 😂
Ask Rory if he is ready for Barton in Chattagnooga!
Would be cool to see a video on preparing / training for Riches Elk hunt.
Coming soon!
Congratulations
Drop the Shirt on the store Rich!
What did strava say about your finish vs others in your weight class?
Rich…. Get Specialized to get you a slot on the Abba Cape Epic in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a two man team race over 8 days. You will have ride a little bit more in prep.
Rich, I would love to be on a team with you one year and complete this!
I want to do it next year. Mayhem mission make it happen
Rich should do an Ironman
Marathon, triathlon, ironman would be cool to see
I’ll do 10 with you. I have gotten 1 down with the time of 8:52 with two months notice.
What is the name of audiobook Rich listens to about American Presidents?
Maybe split the media team into two and each team gets one half of the course to cover. Or maybe place people at different spots throughout the course. Just some thoughts.
