I love making homemade Chinese hot oil, and I put it on and in everything too! So good! I hope your viewers take this one to heart and make themselves a big jar of it because once you start using and cooking with hot oil, nothing's seems complete without it! A must for anyone who loves to cook wonderful Asian cuisine. 👍

I have always loved the hot oil in restaurants. Thank you for showing me how to make by the gallon. I put on everything. Even if it is hot flavored. It tastes great. Most other hot spices like used in Mexican dishes just burns your mouth with no flavor. This can be as hot as you want it to be. With the best flavor every time. I put on tacos instead of anything else.
    Thank you for sharing.

You can make a dip or sauce with the chili oil, just add soy sauce, rice vinegar, and saute lightly some diced garlic and minced ginger. Ginger is okay raw but garlic you may need to squeeze out some juice or lightly brown in vegetable oil or olive oil to get some flavor. Add chili oil gradually to suite your taste.

Oh, and there was another time I was cooking 饺子 at my house and she came over and I was breaking up some seaweed to put in the broth. I was talking about how I liked seaweed, but it was really expensive in America. And she was like, "You like seaweed?!" and then took the bag of seaweed and putting a bunch in LOL! There was more seaweed than there were jiaozi LOL! She has a tendency to go a lil overboard sometimes haha!

There are actually a lot of different ways to make hot oil. The only essential ingredient are chili and oil. Other spices, seasonings and aromatics are optional and can be adjusted to how you like it. It's also made differently in different regions of China, and fermented sauces are sometimes added. Sichuan peppercorns are really good in chili oil too.

3/4 cup of oil doesn't cover 3 ounces of chili flakes. I had to use another 3/4 cup of oil to cover the chili flakes. I weighed 3 ounces of chili flake. It appears that you measured the chili flake by volume instead of weight. No biggie, I just have more spicy chili oil. I like a lot of spicy !
