Quite interesting; well done. As for the answer to the question in the title - it's play all the lines. My advice to new players is to not play a single line at a time but a single tier at a time. Play every ship at each tier and go up tier by tier so you not only learn each ships strengths, but their weaknesses as well, so you know how to counter them. Plus the more you practice at lower tiers in the beginning, the less of a potato you will be at higher tiers.
I don't want to offend anyone but there are worlds between your videos and those of other CCs! I've been playing Legends since release, but I still enjoy watching your videos that are aimed at beginners. Great video as always 😃👍
Going play soviet destroyer line, British cruiser line and German bb line. Already ahead on German and British but your right derka those lines are fun.
Another great video in the series! If I had this video when I started, it would have helped me focus on the more appropriate ships to develop my skills on, rather than just randomly pick the ones I liked the look of. So much to learn! 😄
Couldn't agree more about starting a new line after t5/5 I ground the vanguard out first and quickly realised I was a liability to my team so started a few others, same after my fist dev strike in a Nuremberg

FANTASTIC video Derka, this video feels like some of the old Overwatch Guides I used to watch back in the day Catered to WOWSL, which I just absolutely love (Check out Karq to see what I mean). For Battleships to pick up for new, I say the German Main Battleship line is next to essential. Gneisenau may still be my biggest Bain of the game, but the other German BBs hit relatively hard across the board. While Kaiser, Bayern and FDG can feel at times next to impossible to score citadels with, each boat is incredibly consistent compared to what they were 2 years ago. Bismarck feels like a dream come true, and a Good Bismarck main can change the outcome of a match on the drop of a hat if played right. With that said, I don't think there's such thing as a Frustrating ship in my opinion. Each ship has a specific style of play that requires time and patience to master, and each with their own skill curve. I spent EONS trying to learn Scharnhorst before realizing it's Dispersion can't be fixed with accuracy, so run brawl build instead to maximize Damage of the shells you DO hit. If you take the time, any ship can be an absolute blast to play.
Great video! I only disagree with the cruiser difficulty - British CA is my favourite line. But surely not the easiest! Until Edinburgh you're a regular one shot. Also US CA line hardest? Maybe Omaha. But island hiding and HE spamming - easiest line to get high skillibur and witherer regularly!
Oh yeah! That was very well done! Interesting to see this, agree with almost all of it. I do love the Skäne, Oster and Öland, though. Such fun gun boats, even though the torps don’t hit as hard as some, they have great range. Thanks Derka, great video.
@@DerkaGames I would offer you this…my Västeras has a gun reload of 7.5s, not great, gotta pick your battles. My Skane has 2.9s reload and 7% fire chance. Ostergotland is even better. I know you know these things, just saying if you got to the Skane, you might think the grind was worth it. ✌🏼
I don’t fully agree with the weakest destroyers being the Pan euro line. As I really do like Östergotland as the torpedos are strong enough to kill most battleships of the tier, along with the powerful guns but that’s just my opinion.
I love the British heavy cruisers they’re my favourite line but I get they’re not for everyone! Honestly though Albemarle is an underrated gem it’s HE can wreck havoc on superstructures and destroyers and it has a huge HP pull along with super heals. On top of that it has a good radar and sonar and the single fire British torps, and you can get it to have an insane range of 19 KM. It’s accurate and it’s AP will definitely delete broadside cruisers so I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. I’ve also gotten mine to be quiet agile with a decent rudder and 36kts of speed. The only real downside is it’s got a citadel larger then the state of Texas so keep that in mind. I find Devonshire is also very good it’s got a lot of utility and is just a super well rounded ship, it’s decent in regular play but I find it’s very useful in ranked and brawls. Just play them like miniature British BBs with their HE.

The Minekaze is great to play. Low detection, longer range torps than detection. Just has weak guns. But to sneak around and torp, it's excellent. Also fast.
As a British bb main, I find myself doing well in flanking bbs like the French line or later american ships. I'm rubbish at brawlers like the Germans or Soviets!🤣
It's interesting that the German Cruisers are more powerful than the American heavy cruisers on wows builds. Great vid! 👍all your recommendations, I agree with.
Yeah Omaha and Pensacola really drug that line down. Lots of new players go straight to this line and struggle with tier 4 and 5. It drug the scores down a lot
I’d argue the hipper is better than the Baltimore due to the hipper’s versatility and being able to dynamically change its role during battle. I notice most Baltimore players island camp and bow tank which only does so much to win

Alternative line. So for the British for instance, there was the original light cruiser line, and then they later added the Alternative heavy cruiser line. Same for American battleships and Soviet destroyers etc...
Great video series as this game is a little complicated but very rewarding. But I am trying to figure out how to select a premium ship when you are in a party. I see the regular ships but not the premium ships. Normally I go to play and select the premium ship from the list of all ships on the bottom of the screen. But in a group you can't select play because only your party leader can. Just started playing and want to go in a division. Do you know of a tutorial on playing with a division? Thanks
CA means it's a "heavy cruiser" as opposed to CL which is a "light cruiser." If it's a heavy cruiser it generally has larger caliber guns (such as 203mm or 8 inch guns) while light cruiser have smaller guns (such as 152mm or 6 inch guns) Alt is just an abbreviation for an "alternative" line.
I think you forgot a very important metric. Even tho the Italians are pretty universally accepted at the worst, they are some of the best looking ships in the game. The sleek designs and overall look make them every bit the Lamborghini/Ferrari/Maserati/Abarth of WoWsL. 🤣
When I would play the Omaha I was struggling with people drooling over the opportunity to shoot me. Sooo I basically just sat AFK for around a min and then played. I immediately had better games, not an ideal play style but if you're struggling, try it out.
Most players wanna Know wich is the best or more fun or more OP, but they forget to go ahead and experiment for itself and fell what is most fun for you. Amazing video dude, i couldn't agree more. 😊
Fantastic video, as always, Derka! I personally started with the French cruisers(Emile Bertin was my most played ship for a long time lol), so it was interesting to see where it was compared to the other lines. While I do play other lines every once in a while, you'll see me in a French boat 85% of the time

The Japanese battleships lineup is one of the hardest maybe even the hardest lineup, bad early tiers, with mediocre mid tier ships, and quite bad upper tier ships like the amagi and izumo, but there's 1 good ships the yamato. The rest are premiums so I dont count them as much cause of money.
I’d agree. I have through the izumo and even after a full accuracy build with a 16-2 commander, my shots are almost always bracketing the enemy ship in some manner. And what makes things worse is their poor armor means they’re best played at medium/long range which makes the accuracy worse Who cares about big guns when your shots don’t even hit the enemy ship.
Wow. Really disagree with the community on the Russian DDs. Strongly agree with the rest of this list though. Soviet destroyers are going to be very difficult for new players.
I think they said fun, not easy for that one. They are fun but I hated them when I was new to the game. I slept on the Soviet ships for the longest time and I’m mostly done grinding them now, 3 years in.
@@mikeD1234 Me too. I still need to finish Vladivostok, Chapayev, and Tashkent. Once you realize the DDs need to be played like small cruisers, it’s a bit better, but not my thing. I just didn’t find them much fun until the higher tiers, although many love Tashkent. I’ve been playing since the beginning, and the Russian line is the only one I haven’t finished. Italian cruisers were painful though.
@@richarddoig1865 I’m actually looking forward to Amalfi. I loved the other ones. Always had consistent great games in them. A lot of people don’t like them though. Same with Italian BBs and German BCs. I love both of those. Then, most people love British BBs and I’m not a fan. To each their own.
Really cool video, i tend to agree with most things in here, maybe not the best cruisers, but we can't say that tier 4 and 5 aren't powerhouses... And this kind of videos give Wowsbuilds some visibility wich is pretty cool
Build site is honestly meh Playing mobile version and all US old lines are Average and easy to play aka "Noob Lines" The ONLY thing US is GREAT at is AA and clustering ships to wipe out aircraft . My Kansas has a ridiculous amount of clear skies medals (80% of total) The Usa DD line is subpar period , guns aren't good compared to french or russian the torps are average and as for the Pan-Euro aka Swede DD line the low yield torps are for causing floods and on average the only DD line in Legends , Blitz or Wows pc that gets the same damage numbers as a good swede player is a pro shimakaze player . Just in legends at tier 6 my highest US game is 70k damage behind my swede dd at tier 5 . So just based on DD alone the site is crap or just using raw numbers vs what actually happens in game . Vs Cruiser and up a pan asian DD has better everything than US line (yes i looked at site and compared ratings ) I got tier 5 launch day BECAUSE the US DD are meh and easy to sink . Otherwise TY for vid
I know I am commenting on a year old video but there are more recent comments and players will look here for advice. I have played from WOWL from release and have Founders Edition. Almost no Tech Tree Ship is worth your time and money. Pay attention to the Combat Results Page at the end of your next 10 matches. Note how many Gold Premium Ships are on both teams compared to Tech Tree. Surprised if even 1/3 of ships are Tech Tree. Who is alive or top performer - again surprised if a single tech tree ship makes it to top 3 of both teams. Like World of Tanks, in World of Warships there are so many good Premium Ships being released every month that power creep has left tech tree behind years ago. Try to play a Tier 7 or 8 match dominated by Aircraft Carriers with a Tech Tree Ship that has no Air Defense. Bottom line play whatever Tech Tree you want because it really does not matter because if you are seriuos about playing the game you are going to use Premium Ships anyway.
Great video..new players should know this informations. I think The Biggest problem is new players or dont know how to playing in this game. I hope this informational videos help them.

Nice one Derka, a somewhat thorough yet quick to the point video. I have a suggestion, have you ever thought of doing historical videos on the commanders or vessels within WoW:L? If you’re not clued up on your naval history yourself, you can learn a lot, while at the same time educating others and keeping these legend’s legacies alive. If you’re interested, I’d recommend creating a poll about it and seeing what your community has to say. 👍🏻 Personally, I’m all for it and I don’t see how it could hurt. Surely you must have times where you run out of topics to make content on? I think you’d make a great historian. 👍🏻🤣🤣

My first line years ago and to date still my favourite is the original German BB line, Bismark and I can't spell it but the battle cruiser before it🤣 are my favourite ships in game with secondary builds
Totally agree with you on the British battleships. The vanguard was my very 1st t7 and I still love it. Also would like to add that the bismark with a full secondary build is really fun too. Any destroyer that comes within 11.7km has a real bad day 😅
For my opinion for starting players for Battleships, would be the German BB Main line, Because of The turtle-back armor scime mediocre guns and good secondaries

Hi. I play a lot of battle in single game play would like to know what class of ship in the best to go up against division play. sometimes I can a battleship for fun put I have to take on three or four battleships right at the start. Makes you went to give up in that game . Is it better to play destroyers to take on division players.

I believe you just need to hold X and bring up your ship sorter, you can choose what tier, what nations, premium and so on

British DDs, once you get past the Acasta the ocean becomes your kingdom. The Jervis and Lightning are by far my favourite DDs period.

@@mikeD1234 Me too. I still need to finish Vladivostok, Chapayev, and Tashkent. Once you realize the DDs need to be played like small cruisers, it’s a bit better, but not my thing. I just didn’t find them much fun until the higher tiers, although many love Tashkent. I’ve been playing since the beginning, and the Russian line is the only one I haven’t finished. Italian cruisers were painful though.
@@richarddoig1865 I’m actually looking forward to Amalfi. I loved the other ones. Always had consistent great games in them. A lot of people don’t like them though.
Same with Italian BBs and German BCs. I love both of those.
Then, most people love British BBs and I’m not a fan. To each their own.

Build site is honestly meh
Playing mobile version and all US old lines are Average and easy to play aka "Noob Lines" The ONLY thing US is GREAT at is AA and clustering ships to wipe out aircraft . My Kansas has a ridiculous amount of clear skies medals (80% of total)
The Usa DD line is subpar period , guns aren't good compared to french or russian the torps are average and as for the Pan-Euro aka Swede DD line the low yield torps are for causing floods and on average the only DD line in Legends , Blitz or Wows pc that gets the same damage numbers as a good swede player is a pro shimakaze player . Just in legends at tier 6 my highest US game is 70k damage behind my swede dd at tier 5 . So just based on DD alone the site is crap or just using raw numbers vs what actually happens in game . Vs Cruiser and up a pan asian DD has better everything than US line (yes i looked at site and compared ratings ) I got tier 5 launch day BECAUSE the US DD are meh and easy to sink .

I know I am commenting on a year old video but there are more recent comments and players will look here for advice. I have played from WOWL from release and have Founders Edition. Almost no Tech Tree Ship is worth your time and money. Pay attention to the Combat Results Page at the end of your next 10 matches. Note how many Gold Premium Ships are on both teams compared to Tech Tree. Surprised if even 1/3 of ships are Tech Tree. Who is alive or top performer - again surprised if a single tech tree ship makes it to top 3 of both teams.
Like World of Tanks, in World of Warships there are so many good Premium Ships being released every month that power creep has left tech tree behind years ago. Try to play a Tier 7 or 8 match dominated by Aircraft Carriers with a Tech Tree Ship that has no Air Defense.
Bottom line play whatever Tech Tree you want because it really does not matter because if you are seriuos about playing the game you are going to use Premium Ships anyway.
the light cruisers is different based on the players using it. broadside, almost a free dev strike if their dumb as fudge man
If you can use them, the Italian cruises are very good

Nice one Derka, a somewhat thorough yet quick to the point video. I have a suggestion, have you ever thought of doing historical videos on the commanders or vessels within WoW:L? If you’re not clued up on your naval history yourself, you can learn a lot, while at the same time educating others and keeping these legend’s legacies alive. If you’re interested, I’d recommend creating a poll about it and seeing what your community has to say. 👍🏻 Personally, I’m all for it and I don’t see how it could hurt. Surely you must have times where you run out of topics to make content on? I think you’d make a great historian. 👍🏻🤣🤣

My first line years ago and to date still my favourite is the original German BB line, Bismark and I can't spell it but the battle cruiser before it🤣 are my favourite ships in game with secondary builds

CA designates heavy cruisers, so the Riga and Petropavlovsk line. The light cruisers would be Schors, Chapayev, Donskoi

Totally agree with you on the British battleships. The vanguard was my very 1st t7 and I still love it. Also would like to add that the bismark with a full secondary build is really fun too. Any destroyer that comes within 11.7km has a real bad day 😅
For my opinion for starting players for Battleships, would be the German BB Main line,
Because of The turtle-back armor scime mediocre guns and good secondaries

Probably light cruisers, they can play so many different parts and have a large battle impact. But they get sunk easily so be careful

I play a lot of battle in single game play would like to know what class of ship in the best to go up against division play. sometimes I can a battleship for fun put I have to take on three or four battleships right at the start. Makes you went to give up in that game .
