I’ve been using Mint Mobile for about a year now. I’ll be honest, it took a little while for it to work as I expected (likely my fault). The service has been great, and I’m saving a bunch of money. $15/month for 4gb of data. I never come close to using my allowance. If you look at your mobile bill every month and wonder why it’s so expensive-it doesn’t have to be! Try Mint Mobile! fbuy.me/qo2f-

Pretty sure this happens to many content creators. Seems like YT makes it a real chore instead of a fun hobby. I believe yours was the first channel that I subscribed to. Always enjoyed our weekly conversation. Sucks about the cycling safety issue.
Be well Chris!
I've always enjoyed your perspective, thanks so much for all you've shared. I'd never want you to feel obligated to create content just for the sake of it though. If it's not fun then it's not worth it. Hope you're doing well and wish you the best!
Chris: You've taken the route of quality over quantity. I'd rather watch presentations by an enthusiastic presenter than one who feels compelled by a schedule to churn out any old thing.
I have no expectation that The Psychic Derailleur UA-cam channel should be driving the conversation. I figure that when you have something to share with viewers, you will upload a video. So there is no pressure from the viewers, Chris. Think the Talking Heads', "When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed." I am glad that you are well and thinking about us. Much love, Chris!😉
go for a nice long ride and maybe something will pop into the idea bank- I've enjoyed it every week. Inspired.
I feel ya Chris, I’ve run out of things to discuss amongst my nerdiest of bike friends many times. Sometimes a bike specific destination vacation helps. Like riding the Swamp rabbit trails in Greenville or the Virginia Creeper trail.
Always appreciate your contributions to the interwebs. Sometimes just a short thought on what interests you as of late is welcome. I totally respect your honesty and candor about all things bikley.😜
I look forward to your next post whenever that may be.
When Tamar and I lived in central Denver, the city ruined my riding and took the joy out of my writing. I could think of nothing but life's unfairness and people's callousness. And Denver is not So Florida! I couldn't cope with So Florida. We moved to a suburb with great bike trails away from the cretins in their cars and the urban cretins on their bikes. Changed my life, Chris. Make some kinda move. Cycling is a major part of your life. Go where a cyclist is welcome.
It's very unfortunate you feel that way about riding in Naples. I would have expected better from a city with a reasonably mild climate year round.
I also hope you are able to find something that inspires you to slog through this funk, be it cycling or something unrelated. I made what ended up being a poorly timed cross country move just prior to the previous recession. It seemed like a lifetime of effort just unraveled before my eyes. For what it's worth, you are one of my favorite content creators, I always look forward to what you have to share with all of us. Uncertain times for many, hoping for brighter days ahead for all.
I'm sure it's difficult to find something to say every week, but I hope you manage to! I think there's value in highlighting those parts of cycling that the bike industry appears intent on moving away from. There's a few voices out there pounding the drum for practical, mechanical bicycles, but there's not enough.
The great prophet (Jimmy Buffet) has a scripture (song) about changes in latitudes and changes in attitudes. Experience becomes wisdom only after contemplation. Take some time to contemplate and we’ll be here when you return. Also, maybe a few frozen margaritas wouldn’t hurt either - enjoy 😊
If it makes you feel better i discovered your channel a month ago and have been binging all your videos. Sounds like you're just in a transitional period in life man. Your creativity hasn't run dry. It's just seeking a new outlet. I can attest to the fact that your videos do provide value. I love your takes as someone who is passionate about bicycles as a way of life rather than a mere limited activity or sport or what have you
Thank you Noah
Block happens. If creativity were easy, everyone would do it.
Inspiration will come.
Hey Chris really enjoy your bike stuff and chats, just enjoy because we do. I bought my disc trucker because of your review. You are unique and we enjoy some quiet time a good place to ride will show up
I'm still liking your vids. How about an update on your Hardtack? Did you get to try it out in tail mode yet?. Maybe some footage out on the trail. What made you fall in love with cycling in the first place? What was the first bike that really grabbed you and inspired dedicating part of your life to cycling?
I get it when you just get rung out. As someone who deals with depression, cycling has been hugely therapeutic for me, but there are times when even that stops working. It will pass. Do what makes you happy and thanks for all the food for thought you've provided!
Take care of yourself Chris! We enjoy your content but your health and happiness is more important. Notification is on, so if inspired, I’ll be ready!
Why is it not safe to ride in Florida? What safe options do cyclists have these days? UA-camrs would have us believe that bike packing is the thing to do. Are your customers doing a lot of bike packing? As the bike supply chain heals, and the pandemic wanes, is cycling still "hot" or are people who couldn't buy enough bikes during the pandemic finding other things to do. What are some of the most popular accessories you're selling these days? Impact of electric bikes on the overall cycling arena? Are people using electric bikes as electric scooters or as a way to get some exercise without months and miles of pain to build up strength? What are people asking for when they look for new bikes: comfort? light weight? What are your biggest bike fit problems and how are you solving them for customers.
I like your riffs and rambles, so don't stop, please, and maybe come up with something new, like after-dinner mass-start rides in retirement communities? And I grin but why not, a little fun like a Volksmarch or a weekend gravel event. And I say that with a Florida-bound couple in mind from a decade ago. They bought two bikes and I assembled them as a Walmart bike assembler back then and sure enough, they were on their way to Florida from Pennsylvania in their RV and they weren't going anywhere without getting those bikes. And cool, one never knows what's happening between people and bicycles. And it was a pleasure to dial those bikes for them, even a little wheel-truing for a smooth after-dinner ride. 😀
I've lost my creative mojo before, it sucks. Your best option is to go do something completely different and let your batteries recharge; take a month if you need to. Or you can do a viewer questions vid or three.
Are you a member of the Naples Pathways Coalition? Just curious.
I am. Ive done a bit of writing for them. I help however I can. As with all non profits, it’s an uphill slog. Thank you!
Will you be getting any Appaloosas in stock ?
No plans at this point.
Vloggers block.
Oh wow. Content constipation! Many of us have been there…we feel the urge to purge…and then…nothing. The harder we push for ideas, the higher the anxiety of facing a blank wall😳. Relax, your amongst friends. Sometimes it’s enough to just show up…with nuttin! But when all else fails, a bikini clad model inexplicably placed on set is always good to spike the algorithm!!😂. Nice to see ya!
Ha!
Best wishes Chris. It’s easy to lose our Mo-Jo but hopefully you’ll get yours back soon.
Also, guys like you and I seriously want to make a difference and improve the lives of others, and for me, at times, I’m not certain the best way to go about that.
But, I keep swinging. 😀
I'd say you should talk about why you don't feel safe doing so in FL. I'm a fellow floridian (Orlando) and we need more people talking about what's needed here.
I think you could also impart a unique perspective, particularly at this point in the year, on the 'event pipeline' model so many shops seem to have adopted. You walk in, buy your 5000 dollar trek, and then you're supposed to train for unbound. It's fucking stupid. It also relegates cycling to a 1 dimensional activity, and probably adds to the issue of road safety, as the implication is such that there are places to ride and there are places to not ride. Anyways, you should touch on that.
cheers.
Idk I have always thought more people on bikes is a good thing for both the bicycle industry and the activists fighting for better infrastructure. Yes, there is sometimes arrogance associated with certain groups, but that's true with most things in life, at least in my experience.
@@hippiebits2071 Not really about the arrogance. More about the late capitalist pipeline that doesn't do much to help anyone but multinational corporations. Bicycles can be a way of life. Imagine if people were encouraged to go out and explore their local areas as a the 'end-all' adventure cycling instead of exporting that to another place. It could engender a greater awareness of cycling everywhere as the activity continues to grow stateside. I want to see more people cycling everywhere. Not driving to a trailhead or another city to a closed course and then go home with the bike in tow. That's my better world.
Your time away was noted, but appreciated. You're sure to encounter unexpected challenges amid all the big shifts you've tackled these last few years. I hope reflection and rest will serve you well and perhaps give a new perspective you'll consider worth sharing. All the best,
from another recent transplant
(staying in the bike industry, somehow!)

As many can attest, every cyclist or cycling enthusiast looses their zeal for cycling on occasion, whether it's for a couple days, months, or even years. I personally get into that cycling slump myself on occasion, going so far as to prep my bikes to go ride and then just say to myself, "Not today".
As far as your situation, I could see this happening more frequently due to having to run a cycling business when cycling interests seem to come and go with the seasons or economy.
Don't lose heart and take care of yourself and the business first vs. worrying about YT content.
keep ya head up dog.
Is it the traffic that makes it unsafe in South Florida? Is it something else? I have images of Miami Vice and criminals behind every corner. You would think a warm place like that with no snow would be set up for bicycles.
It's suffering from a severe car infestation and poor driver complications.
What makes a modern ATB better than a 90’s mountain bike?
What’s something new you learned in the past month?
How does one make a Straggler a race machine (34 lbs lol)
Do you install toilet paper facing out or in?
If by “out” you mean over the top? That is correct. Anyone who does it the other way is an animal. 😆
@@ThePsychicDerailleur And what about a shop tour?
Review all the gear in your store!
How about a discussion on tire pressure and tube versus tubeless setups? Seems like tubeless tires can work with very low pressure but claim that they have fewer flats even on pavement.
John, I’ve covered that. It’s been a while but I know I’ve done one or two on that topic. Thanks!
