Thank you all for all your wonderful comments , it really does make it all worth while . This Amazon Alexa project did take some time so I do hope you like it. If your feeling extra generous sharing this video would really help me and my channel . Thanks folks . Love to all x 🎺🎺
Great Stuff again Nick. There are a lot of guys out there on UA-cam for doing things with resin or a lathe but you do it in a way with some funny and entertaining part. Not many out there who got this talent. The only one who do this to is Bobby Duke Arts. Surprised by every video you do thanks a lot.
When you know you’ll hollow out something why don’t you ever use an internal structure like pvc pipe or tubing of some kind? Could save you resin money and time.
I thought about this but a couple things come to mind. 1. It wouldn't work with large pieces mixed with resin 2. It would have to be capped at one end and still settle in its spot 3. Would though pour around it or press it in? Pouring may not ensure equal distribution on add-in and press in may also disturb attractive distribution 4. If the add-in is light in either weight or amount, the filler may not remain upright so all his molds would need a lid of some kind to keep the filler centered.
I wonder if in Nick's house everything is made from pencils. Like: wooden door with glued pencils, pencil table, pencil chair, pencil bowl, pencil spoon.... Damn, that's a lot of pencils!
What if you took an ice tray and filled it with different colored resin, then after it hardens put in a larger container with clear resin and turned a bowl or something? Idk? Lol
Oh! I like these ideas! Nick should follow your idea but add tiny watch battery powered lights in it too. Or make a lighted stand for whatever he makes to sit it on!
We (husband and I) absolutely love it!! Completely worth the wait! That 'click' as it snaps into place is the best sound ever and I can only imagine how wonderful it is after all the time YOU spent on it. We're looking forward to your next video and sharing with my friends! Stay funky, friend!
"That'll give us a bit more thickness to play with".................😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Say no more 😉😉😉😉 Another beautiful project, well done Nick. It's good to see You again, it seems ages since we last saw you xx

Number of holes: There were 11 vertical ones to start with and I'm estimating 48 around (Looked like a quarter of the pot contained 12) so there could have been 528 to start with. After it was trimmed, there were 8 vertical holes leaving 392 at the end, if i got the number of holes in the circumference right. It was a lot of holes to drill however many there were! Good for teaching you patience! Love the pencil tips, you should definitely make something else with them.
I got the same 11 befor cutting but only took 2 rows off leaving 9 and I estimated 68 rows round the pot. but nice to see others taking the number chalenge to lol
Nick! Colored pencil idea + resin! Get a pencil sharpener and sharpen the colored pencils till there is just a stub left and then put the pencil shavings in resin and BAM, an awesome resin blank!!!
Kyla Fuller I remember the project that he used them on! I was recommending to make another project with colored pencils where you sharpen the colored pencils until there is no pencil left and then use all the shavings in some resin and then use that blank for something!
Love the process you went through on this one. Would love to see it with a white background to show off the pencils better. The logo button would look great opposite the power. I can see it now.... 2020 Makers Central: “Where is Nick?” “He’s still drilling holes for Alexa” This turned out really Cool and Funky! BTW- who did the voice?
@@nickzammeti if you ever made a second Alexa case would you consider using metal shavings in the resin with a nice cherry or maple wood speaker section? If so would you consider selling it and how much? I think it would just look amazing.
If my counting is correct which took me a very long time so it’s probably not but there should be about 1001 holes ( 91 holes around and 11 holes in between equals 1001 ) again probably wrong and it took me forever.
Well I counted only 10 rows top to bottom and 46 columns around which would make 460 pretty darn certain on the 10 rows the 46 well no I didn't double-check I slowed it down to 25% and it took me maybe 5 minutes

Patent a design and then sell that designed to these big companies for a big price
