I always appreciate your reminder "never go broke for fashion". It's so easy to get lead astray.
I recently started using a wish list, and I really like it! One thing I would add: at the bottom of my list beneath the "necessary" and "perhaps" sections, I also have an "acquired" section. That way I can celebrate what I did find and focus less on what I don't have. xo
great idea!
I do this too! It’s so helpful isn’t it? I also love how it keeps me focused on all the beautiful things that may not be a month old but are still so new in my wardrobe 🤗
I do this as well !
That is a truly lovely idea!
I took your advice, did the same and I am very pleased with the result. Thank you❣
I would buy a CD/podcast with your voice/singing for a relaxing sleep. It’s soooo beautiful.❤️❤️❤️😊
Me too!!!
Same
It’s like Audrey reading my mind and posting what i need to hear lol.
Yay ❤️❤️🤗
These are legit the EXACT words I was going to type.. 😆
At the top of my wishlist is a pair of Thursday boots. I have a sinking fund set up and I’m $60 away from owning my boots. Thank you Audrey for sharing your sage advice on a thoughtful curated wardrobe.
You are like the beautiful, warm, loving older sister I never had to teach me these things growing up.
I'm desperately trying to buy a pair of black sandals. I know exactly what I want. I looked around and I could buy something else instead. But your channel has helped me to become way more thoughtful with my purchases. Thank you so much xx
I try so hard to buy off season. You are going to get the best deals. I am a knitter so in the summer I am knitting “the “ winter sweater.
Same here
I need to clean my closet and will start making a wishlist, not only for my clothes but also my life in general. I am an impulse buyer, but I know I can change. Thanks so much!
Your voice is so calming! Would love to hear you sing!
Her Voice is really so relaxing
Thank you so much ❤️
Clarissa Raaths she has singing videos.
@@debbbb2561 I cant find any. Can u share link?
The leather jacket example is a really great one. I actually went thru this process before I added a jacket to my closet, and I became aware of how MANY differences there are between jackets. I mean, different collars, silhouettes, lengths, pockets! And I discovered that there are only one or two leather jackets styles that work for my shape and desired affect. Great advice!!
Edit: Would love to see a video that focuses, at least partially, on how to edit closet pieces that are LOVED, but body shape changes or weight gain have them no longer fitting? Like how you yourself think thru that "letting go" process? Thanks
When I watch your videos I always think your home looks so charming. Would love a house tour video one day.
Audrey, I found your youtube a couple months ago during quarantine, and you changed my clothing game and my perspective in shopping so much! I used to be an avid fast fashion shopper but now I try to wait to save for better quality clothing pieces. Now whenever I want to shop, I look back and reflect: What would Audrey do! and honestly that help me soo much. Love your channel a lot. Keep making great contents xx
This has been what I have been up to while in lockdown. Channeling my inner Audrey one activity at a time.
I have so many things on my wishlist but I can't find them! Either the material, size or design is wrong. So when I feel like I can't wear the same clothes every day I settle and find something that's not optimal. I wish I didn't look like a "schlumpadinka" but it's really difficult being a modest plus size gal. Whoever reads my comment: Wish you a nice day. 🌸
I feel you 🧡🧡
I understand your frustration because we have to realize we are not Audrey. Yet we are just as beautiful, but a different size. Audrey has given you the tools. Know your shape size, discover your color palette, style your hair, manicure your nails moisturizer and makeup (get a free makeup consultant at department store). and do your research. Darling you are gorgeous 🌷
@@dori1425 thank you I really needed that 🧡
I feel you! ♥️ I’m not a plus size but I apparently have weird proportions 🤷♀️ whenever I finally find what I’m looking for in the right material (and the right price lol), it doesn’t fit. (Unless it’s leggings, which I end up wearing way too often 😅) So I decided to start having things custom made: I get to choose the design, the material, and it fits ME! You’d think it’s super expensive, but when you think of the time you won’t waste in your search for the perfect garment and all the pieces you won’t buy out of spite in the process, it’s actually really worth it. You get a garment that actually fits you, plus you support a local business. You can also have things you buy altered to fit you better. I think you feel so much more confident and beautiful when you wear something that fits and feels comfortable!
I’m also in the process of learning to sew, to do those things myself... we’ll see how that goes lol
Clothes shouldn’t make us feel uncomfortable in our own skin, whatever the shape we have. Our bodies are not the problem!
@@charlotteparadis4754 I don't have clothes custom made, I just put back 11 out of every 12 items I try on. It's been a long time since I've had a tailor, and it's something I really do miss. When I was a kid department stores had an alterations department and I'm not sure why they stopped. It was so convenient to head out of the dressing room with a near fit, make the purchase and then head over to alterations and get your clothing custom fitted.
Thank you so much for your videos, Audrey. Since I stumbled across your channel (and proceeded to watch dozens of your videos!) I’ve completely changed how I think about clothes. I can’t believe how quickly and mindlessly I purchased clothes before- as someone with a difficult to dress body, I think I bought clothes simply because they fit with no thought to quality or sustainability. With so many options for non-straight sized clothes now, I have the luxury of being much more mindful about what I buy, and your videos have taught me how to do that. Many thanks to you!
Thank you,, such a great video. It’s so refreshing to watch somebody like yourself, rather than the growing body of fast fashion pundits that urge us to to ‘buy, buy buy’. The planet will thank us for slow fashion as will our wallets and wardrobes
Very helpful tips for me as a preschool teacher, trying to put together a nice but simple capsule wardrobe without having to break the bank putting random pieces together.
I completely agree with the idea of having a wish list. I find that you buy less clothes you do not need and have more that you love and wear!
Thanks for your video and cute cute dog 😊
Wish lists are something I just naturally started doing when I transitioned to slow fashion. It’s so helpful! I typically make one each season, but I really like your idea to make different tiers of what I want sooner and later. I think I’ll rework my wishlist today using that as a guide! Thank you!
Oh the doggie! Soo cute, the small wonder❤ I love your videos and knowing that you are an animal lover makes me like you even more!
I've been making lists and resisting impulse buying for some time now and it was the best decision ever. I've also been thrifting or shopping from boutiques a lot more rather than fast fashion brands. Your channel has been so helpful and I've learned a lot, thank you!
Your voice is delightful to listen to. Your advice is sound and helpful. I've improved my slow fashion game, thanks to you. And I love that you share your personal humor with us.
I so appreciate that you said this can be a form of self-care. The act of focusing in on myself in this way truly is important to me, but because it is a material thing, there's a temptation at times to feel like I'm being selfish (as many self-care habits can feel for those to put themselves on the back burner). However, I know that the things you have been teaching me I have needed for myself for *years* and I thank you for helping me to give myself permission and extra determination to continue forward! ❤
Just Love the Wish List - I have started to use it for “Window Shopping” -
then I say to myself “Are you sure you want that, is it really your style, does it fit in with your plan. ...
Lately I’ve been wondering why I wear certain things over and over again, what is it about those old favourites I liked so much? I use to pack for holidays and wear one or two things over and over and over and some things went back home unworn! So I definitely put the wish list on the top of my list!! Great video. Thanks Audrey
I literally just purchased a black trench coat at a phenomenal price. It’s a staple I’ve long wanted but never needed to go overboard price wise. I researched & read reviews and am happily waiting for its arrival. Thanks for all your awesome content & advice! 😊
I am so exited and happy when a new video is released!! Always looking forward to each new video, because it is full with useful tips. Audrey, thank you from The Netherlands !!!
Thank you for helping me curate my closet. I do love my closet now and my wardrobe. Following you has changed everything about my clothes.
Two weeks ago I did almost exactly this with no idea that I was channelling my inner Audrey!! Thanks for the video!
Me too 😊
My Pinterest boards are my wishlist 😂 "if it's not there then maybe I shouldn't buy it" and before I save a photo I ask myself, would I really wear this?
Andrea Velez My Pinterest board with clothes on it DEFINITELY needs to be...sub-categorized, shall we say? 😂😂😂.
Thank you so much Audrey, I have been following you from some years now for classy look but just now I decided to completely redo my wardrobe and, now that I can afford it, I’m starting a slow fashion habit thanks to you. Much appreciated Audrey and I hope you see my comment ❤️❤️❤️
I have been following a few fashion vloggers for almost a year now in the hope to discover my own personal style and I have come to the conclusion that I find your channel to be the most helpful for me in that regard. I just love the way that you, unlike other vloggers don't emphasizing buying new stuff all the time to look stylish but show the inventive ways to use already existing pieces in a fashionable way. I guess I feel most at home watching your videos on styling because over the past few months I have realized my personal style is a lot like yours, including color preferences (I'm also olive skinned though I have a much deeper complexion because I'm a South Asian), taste in jewelry (minimalistic and modern) and outfit styles and silhouettes (I also stand at 5 feet, 3 inches tall) which are mostly minimalistic and interstated in the first glance yet very sleek and elegant, often a wonderful combination of edgy and classic but overall splendidly coherent and harmonious. I absolutely love your channel and your videos always have such great visuals and background soundtracks. ❤️
This guide is honestly so helpful! Making wish lists is something I've sworn by since getting into the capsule wardrobe system, but hearing your specific tips just feels like icing on the cake (so to speak). Thank you for this video, Audrey!
This is an excellent video for clothes organization. I have been able to identify pieces of my signature style, things that no longer service me & now I can see what items can go on my wish list. I so appreciate you & this video. I have been working on this for the last 7 months from watching your previous videos. Thank you. I feel lighter concerning my wardrobe. It is now full of things I love & wear. Now, I am currently working on my accessories. You are lovely, Audrey. Cheers 😊🌺💕
I have a lengthy wish list since I've cut my wardrobe down from 97 to 46 and am creating a French capsule wardrobe (five colors, quality only). I need so much! I've prioritized items, which has helped, with summer being first, since it's the season I'm in, and because I live in Florida (will be a snowbird some day). I like your tier system and am going to implement it! I took photos of my lists so they're in my phone when I shop. You have been very helpful!
I really love when you put my ideas into actual words, so i have something to go back to instead of writing it down! 😅😁😁 thank you 🤗♥️
This pup is so adorable and cozied up next to you!!
Audrey, this video is very good. You have helped me really think about my closet and try to avoid impulse buying. Now I focus on purchasing fewer, but better quality items. I love this wish list. Your dog is adorable!
Morning coffee on the deck with Audrey! I’m not sure the day could get better.
Oh my, wish lists! I think it is a wonderful idea. It shows thought process and reason. It is not what most of us do which is see it, like it, and buy it. By using a list, you know what you need or would like to have for your wardrobe and prioritize these items in order of season and need.
This video is sooo in tune with how I feel right now.
That top is so pretty on you, Audrey. The white, the lace, the sleeves,...really pretty.
The bit about seeing an item on someone else and thinking that's so me is just what I felt when I first saw your gorgeous ankle boots from Thursday Boots. I've seen another UA-camr with a pair and it only made that feeling stronger - I have always loved ankle boots and those are so nice and comfortable-looking that I'm going to save over summer and buy a pair for autumn. I've had so many pairs over the years that I know I'll get so much use out of them, it's absolutely going to be worth the outlay.
I love that you always start with a table of contents. Why don’t more UA-camrs do that?
This is what I’ve been doing while working from home since March. Got ideas (you and Pinterest mostly), made a list, and slowly started purchasing the items. JCrew, JCrew Factory, and Poshmark have been my main go-to’s. I’ve been working on fall and winter, so I was still able to get some good deals from JCrew and JCrew Factory. ❤️. Buying off season is such a game changer. Found the perfect camel coat. YAY! That took some time. But I still have my wishlist made out, and I still have items I need to purchase. 🙂. I’ll probably start on spring and summer come October. 😊
I have started to do this and it has helped me so much with my shopping process. Instead of getting overwhelmed I can zero in on pieces that I need or want and that meet my criteria. Great video!
You’re an inspiration - I enjoy all your thorough, thoughtful videos.
Fantastic video - I am definitely going to adopt your process. I think this will be a game changer for me - making my choices more thoughtful, stopping me from being over persuaded by sales assistants or impulse buying pieces that are just 'ok' /'will do for now' .
You can also start a fund so that as you’re doing all of this you’re also putting something pretty insignificant (say $5-$10/week) in it so by the time you find the right item, you have a little slush fund ready to go. If you make it automatic (either using an app that moves your money automatically or make it a habit to deposit same day every week or right when your paycheck goes through) and by the time you look at it, you’ll be amazed how much is really in there. Maybe don’t even look at the fund until you’ve actually decided to purchase something so you don’t go “omg I could by so many things right now because I’ve got the money to!”, you still want to be slow and intentional like Audrey talks about.
I actually started a wishlist before I came across this video, and now I'm absolutely convinced that it's the ultimate way to save money and time and build a quality wardrobe. I used to buy things because they looked nice/cute. Now I buy clothes because I need them and to express my personal style. I think the way you talk about fashion is sustainable, fun and smart. Hope slow fashion becomes more and more powerful a movement in the future :)
I’m at the ‘tiers’ part of this evolving journey. Thanks for your content. It’s validating!
Brava Audrey! I went through something like this in my 40s. Don't get capsule wardrobes except for travel and a neutral color palate is so boring. Keep growing and enjoy yourself.
Dear Audrey, I discovered your channel just recently off of a recommendation from Justine Leconte, and I immediately fell in love with your videos :)
I am a recent mom and this massive life change has caused me to neglect my style quite a bit. Your videos are an inspiration to get started on my style journey again, so that I can still look and feel my best - you are so very right. It is a form of self-care, so thank you very much for your delightful videos.
I’m so into your video. I like your voice with peace and confidence. A lot of good advice from your videos, which I always watch before bed time.
This was perfect, I can't even tell you! I've been wanting to do this but it seemed so overwhelming. I'm starting mine today! Thank you! 👏👏
Okay but your cat’s head being just slightly in frame *chefs kiss*
I have used this time at home to curate my wardrobe and a wish list has been extremely helpful. I break mine down into categories - outerwear, bottoms, tops, shoes, accessories, undergarments, sleepwear. It has kept me focused and have also avoided my lifelong m.o. - building a wardrobe around my accessories. Forcing myself to stop buying shoes until all the gaps in my wardrobe were filled made me realize that my show wardrobe was full of statement shoes and zero basics.
Really thank you for the video...
Love the way you break down everything and explain..
Great content...❤️
I really love these videos, Audrey, thanks for posting.
First, This is really helpful and encouraging. Second, I like your elegance in your look and personality.
This is so helpful! My wish list has just been a note on my phone. Something that helps me not get bored is having a couple items that I buy every 1-2 years. For me that is 3 summer dresses. They are casual and because I only spend a couple bucks on them and wear them out so that next summer I can buy something new.
I love your tier guides! It's very smart. It does help especially I'm a visual person. Thank you!
Good Morning Everyone, "Holes in my wardrobe" is the excuse I used for all the online clothing shopping I did during April and May after my March closet purge of things I donated.
Your information is actually very useful, and your voice and tone make hearing it a pleasure. Didn’t know I would find that a preferred teaching platform, but I subscribed to your channel because of it. Keep up the good work!
It is so pleasant to listen to you. I love your sweet soothing voice and the way you explain. You make me smile the whole time I listen to you.
Thank you for this video! I have a bad habit of making a vague wish list and then purchasing items that only relate somewhat or share a similar characteristic, but end up maybe being the wrong fabric, wrong fit, etc. My closet then ends up full of items that I feel "bah" towards, and don't evoke confidence when worn. I like your point about researching and getting specific about what exactly you want in the item. That will help me be more strict when I'm out shopping, and avoid caving in on pieces that don't check all the boxes.
I like your last point and I have been using it a lot. I do plan a big wish list and revisit it very often to take out all the things that would be nice to have and fit my style but that I would not wear enough to justify the expense. This is a real long process but worth it if I buy less but use my pieces more often. I also visit my box of clothes which I have put aside for various reasons to see if I cannot actually use something I already have...
Audrey, excellent vlog! Informative and relatable to all who want to curate our wardrobe to our style and lifestyle. 👏🏼 Bravo
Very useful tips to streamline the "wish list" process. I have a kind of hodge podge of individual items that I like/want, but after learning more about the dangers of fast fashion and the practicality of slow fashion, I realized I have more than enough clothing to last me for the next few years!
My wish list ever since I've subscribed to your channel are those cap toed shoes you wear. I absolutely love them.
This was an awesome vid. I’ve kept my wishlist separate in terms of whether I can buy the item new or secondhand, and I keep inspirational images beside the secondhand ones with notes on what I love about it so I can check when I am out (if we ever go back out)... The newer stuff is usually shapewear and a very particular brand of loafer... ☺️
Very good info. Thank you! PS, really enjoyed seeing your cat and dog. I've got a cat next to me, too.
Thank you. I loved this video! Just recently I started my wishlist and yes I’m trying hard not to buy things in senseless fashion!
Love seeing you puppy again. Thank you for all your tips
Audrey’s really the best on the topic of style!
I always enjoy your videos. You are conservative and practical. A fashion u tuber I enjoy as many others are just massive consumers. I have done the same as you and have curated my wardrobe. My camel coat, blue navy blazer, leather boots, vintage leather bag are a few of my basic key pieces. A a few more fall items and I am set. Thank you for the video. I love your style and approach to fashion. Quality over quantity. Thank you. Love your gentle voice. Like you I am an Asian blend. Grew up in the Air Force lived all over the world. Happily relocated to North Caroline from California. Can't wait to go to Charleston.
The advice in your videos are great! I'm trying to now save up for quality pieces I know I'll love, tailoring, and traveling. Every time I consider impulse buying things (food, gadgets, etc), I reign myself in and ask myself what I'm saving up for. :)
You have so many useful videos on your channel 👏👏
I so love the details you put into each video.
Lovely surprise to see a new video uploaded. I’m going to start a wish list!
Awesome, Audrey! So informative, so thought out! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge!
Love you to bits 🥰 SO informative and enlightening I’ve learned
so much from you wish you best of luck 😘
Thank you for this helpful advice and for really breaking it down. It is a lot of work, but I hope it will help me clarify my evolving style.
Thank you for the video❣ Your voice is so calm, I love it 🥰
These are timeless, very helpful tips! Thank you!
This was a very comprehensive video. Thank you so much for these tips 🤗🤗
Thank you Audrey, this has been very helpful I have a wish list but I think I’m going to try to tier idea.
Love this Audrey xx
Such a helpful video! Really needed it at this point on my life where I am establishing my life basics of style.
Loved all those list of tips. I’d follow them as I was thinking to make one for myself. Anyways, you’re awesome 👏🏼
Such a great video, thank you Audrey 💕 you are the best
I feel like I got my life together just listening to you. ☺️
Love your suggestions. I think my struggle is I love things that don’t look so good on my body shape.
Catherine Emond same 🙁
Same
Same!!!
This is very helpful. I always love your tips and style.
I’m short with short arms too 🤗 I find with especially jackets/sweaters, sometimes kids clothes fit better. A lot of companies are making more sophisticated kids clothes now.
I have been keeping a wishlist for over a year using many of the ideas here. My wishlist is broken down by season for just that season. If I don’t find the item I re-evaluate about adding it to the season next year. I also keep track of what I buy each season to see what I spent and if I keep on track with my plans. Thanks 💕
I love your videos and contents! Thank you Audrey
My wish list as of yesterday: cotton tank tops in purple tones! I realized I need some to layer/coordinate when getting dressed for church! 😁
So well articulated, thank you Audrey. X
Hello Audrey. Thank you so much for this helpful guide! It really changed how I approach my style and shopping itself. BTW the cat ears moving in front are so cute! :)
Hi Audrey! I would also recommend looking at Lexther. I was looking for a black leather jacket for a while with a lot of the same criteria as you since I’m very short (4’8”). My custom leather jacket just came in and was really affordable because I bought it during their Memorial Day sale. They did a phenomenal job and I can’t recommend their customer service enough!
God! This top looks so so beautiful and graceful 🌻
Thanks a lot for your ideas. I have discovered my color palette after watching your videos. Never knew I had one eventhough it has always existed. Now I know what to buy- the missing pieces
