That is extremely easy. Thanks. When I had an appliance business, the motors had a start switch that would control the power to the start winding. If a motor is like that, switch the two wires that go to the start winding from the neutral and the start switch. I would do this if a motor in a dryer was defective, and I had an extra motor from a junk dryer that turned the opposite direction.
Even thought wires are not same color, just focus on the capacitor terminals and use ohm meter to check which one is conect to Life wire (black) accordingly to given schematic in video. It is very helpful. Many thanks.

MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT STARTING COIL IS OF A THINNER GAUGE THAN THREE RUNNING GAUGE.. TO CHANGE ROTATION OF A MOTOR, ONE OF THE RUNNING OR STARTING LEAD MUST BE SWAPPED WITH PHASE OR NEUTER. PLEASE EXPLAIN.
This method is only aplicable if both phases coils are same power (main and auxilary coil). If they are different power you could have a problem. And if auxiliry coil has centifugal switch like some motors have, than it will not work. I have such situation and I didn't found easy solution except to use Cam 1-2-0, four pole switch
Hi. Thank you for your video. I have tried to revers two moror from old swimming pool pump. Single phase 0.75 KW. In revers the motor is slow and overloading. Please, could you give me your thought. thanks
Much appreciation brother the video has been helpful sir but I honestly request you to take me through size the capacitors for single phase motors ie run and start capacitors thanks
In my case the neutral wire is connected to the capacitor and the live wire is connected separately do I swap them put the neutral wire where the live wire is and the live wire where the neutral wire is connected??? Please help!!!
I wonder if using a 6-prong DPDT(double-pole, double-throw) switch could reverse the rotation of a 120V AC motor? This would allow the rotation of the motor to be changed with the flick of a switch.
Nice but before performing this practical make sure you measure coil resistance, both running and auxiliary winding resistance must be the same ohms value otherwise motor became overheat and for few time will burned out
This can only work efficiently if both the running winding and the start winding have the same resistance which is not mostly the case in motor, but rather interchange one of the two starting coil terminals.
My capacitor of bolzano pump has 4 terminal..3 of which are used..blue wire, red wire and the other connected to live wire, which connection i should switch?
I think your breaker size will depend on how much current the motor draws. A 1kw motor running on 230V would draw about 4A. Therefore you need a breaker rated above 4A.
Hi! Nice and good video coz u meant helping I think, but be careful when educating people especially in powers such as DC, AC etc the way u know in reversing these motors is wrong. Thanks
You can use FORWARD REVERSE STARTER. one contactor will have a forward direction connection and the other will have the reverse direction connection....you can watch this video ua-cam.com/video/RDIchPs1rVY/v-deo.html
QUESTION ONE In class, we have discussed the star-delta method of starting, as well as the forward and reverse control of a three-phase induction motor. In this test, you are being asked to draw the power and control circuits of a combined (single) circuit of the above highlighted methods of controlling a three-phase induction motor (i.e. Star-Delta Forward and Reverse control). Conditions: i. When the isolator and triple pole MCB is switched on, the circuit can be energized. ii. When the forward start button is pressed, the motor runs in the forward star and the delta. i.e. contactor coil (M), timer coil (T1) contactor coil (Y) are energized instantly and the motor starts running in forward star and later contactor coil (Δ) is also energized. iii. After a preset time (say 40 seconds) the normally closed of T1 opens while the normally of T1 open closes resulting in the motor running in forward delta. iv. When the motor is running in forward direction, a blue indicator lamp comes on. The contactors C2 and M2 are interlocks for the forward and reverse operation while contacts Y1 and Δ1, are interlocks for the star-delta operations. v. When the stop push button is pressed or an overload takes place, the motor stops running and the blue indicator lamp goas off. vi. When the reverse start push button is pressed, the motor starts running in reverse star and later in delta. i.e. contactor coil (C), timer coil (T2), contactor coil (Y) and later contactor coil (Δ) are energized. vii. After a preset time (say 40 seconds) the normally closed of T2 opens while the normally of T2 open closes resulting in the motor running in reverse delta. viii. When the motor is running in reverse (star-delta), a yellow indicator lamp will be on. ix. When the overload trips or a stop push button in pressed, the motor stops running in the reverse direction. how do u go about this
Different colour? The colour of the motor doesn't matter, principles are the same regardless of less The only question would be WHAT TYPE OF MOTOR YOU HAVE. Op that answers your question.
Depends. This is a split phase motor, which means that the coils are equal. There is no starting coil, as both are running coils. However, they are still 90º apart.
Put it on .25 speed and watch when it slows down, clearly moving the other direction. Even at .25 you can’t tell what direction it’s moving until it slows down just before stopping so all you people trying to claim you can tell which direction it’s going at full speed are just trying to be contrarian.

A pump that is still connected to the motor is not a good example for a demo, will damage seal when run dry. Should have removed impeller and seal before demo. Demo did not specify single phase 110v or single phase 220v or single phase 240v ( commonwealth). Did not also show how to ensure the Capacitor is completely discharged before fiddling around with it - very dangerous for someone lacking knowledge of the component’s workings and it’s lethality.

The Backward direction doesn't work properly is very slow and the coil becomes very hot ?

MANY thanks, you picked up a new subscriber. Could one just add a forward / reverse switch to the system to change the direction of the motor ?
yes, it works perfectly

Is it possible to have a reverse -forward starter of a single phase motor?

My capacitor of bolzano pump has 4 terminal..3 of which are used..blue wire, red wire and the other connected to live wire, which connection i should switch?
we are approciating ua work ,keep it up,and am asking ,i may have vedio that diplay rewinding of motor?
Yes, soon
Wow!! Thanks that's wonderful man.
Yes but it did not work, watch it again.
Good day, how many amps breaker should be used to protect 1kw motor from over current
I think your breaker size will depend on how much current the motor draws. A 1kw motor running on 230V would draw about 4A. Therefore you need a breaker rated above 4A.
Thank u dear... Very useful
It's not very clear, you have 2 flex cables belonging to the motor and a supply flex, what cores go where?
How to use changeover switch please give us wiring diagram
So neutral wire stays connected only the live wire is moved and connected to the capacitor??
yes
That did not change the direction. It was doing cw before the wire change and is still cw after the wire change????
Agreed…motor didn’t change direction, why are so many of you duped..?
Yep still going the same way, but most people on here believe that it is going in reverse now but it is not.
If my source wire doesnt have different colors like somebody already replaced the wires before how will i know which wire is live or ground? Thanks
Helpful ❤
thanks it helps a lot..
Tops man thanks for the video
Good job 🔥
This is only suitable for running and starting coils have the same resistance.
its a 2 phase motor so both coils are the same reactance
Nicely Done

were you not suppose to discharge the capacitor before messing with it?
Discharge it bro or give some time to let it discharge

Bearings maybe
@@bollocknase It has new bearings and on clockwise rotation it runs smoothly.

how can you make a wiring to turn the motor forward and reverse direction without changing the wire from the motor
