    In this video, I take a look at a motor to see if I can reverse it.

    You sure have skills, Bob!! I rarely see one of your videos when I'm not reminded that the biggest challenge I face is simply giving something a try. A big part of these projects is the satisfaction you get from making something work. Thanks, Bud!!

      Yuup! I agree with that. You have to give things a go. If it is already broken you are not going to break it anymore.

    Reminds me of hysteresis loops from school. Back in 75 -76 I took electronics at a technical college (telecom). Reverse the magnetism. Wow you are very good at realistic demo's.

      Thanks I didn't even know I was specializing in "realistic demo's" I will put in on the resume. LOL. I took several levels of electronics never really liked it, but now that I'm older, I feel as if I would appreciate a class like that now.

    I bought a used electric concrete mixer off Craigslist and the way the paddles in the drum were angled it was turning in the wrong direction. It has a non-reversible motor. Found this video and tried this. Problem fixed! Thanks!

    Awesome video on motor rotation keep them coming... the motor I have has two smaller winding wires to each lead rather than one, so would I have to swap two and two or just one. If so which of the two gets swapped...thank you

    Txs for the video,does it reverse if you just switched the main wires hot and neutral ?

      No problem, I'm happy you enjoyed it. Many people want small engine videos, but just post whatever I'm up to.

    So if i just find where the smaller wires attatch and switch thise from their original im good ? Is that basically all you did? My motor has a start capacitor and a run capacitor, does that matter? It almost seems to me i coukd switch the wires in the switch capacitor and that woukd work. Im lost. I was so excited to upgrade my table saw to a 2 hp motor to find it runs in the wring direction and im lost. So much info in youtube but its over my head

    cool video as usual, what about making a motor reversible to fix a drain auger setup? my 1/3 hp unit is out and if I didn't need reverse it would already have a weed eater motor on it.

      Take the inside out and put it in the other side

      No problem are you going to make a video of building the belt sander

  • @DonnaMSchmid

    So the connection that had two wires, you only swapped the thinner wire, right? (Or did you swap both?)

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  7 років тому

      I just swapped the thinner wire.

  • @mytexasdays1526

    Why didn't you remove it from the case put it in the other side and there's nothing to do after that except to put the fan blade back on.

    that should be a good motor I didn't know what it took to reverse a ac motor..

      @doublewide6  7 років тому

      You will see that motor in action soon as I get the belt sander in use. Keep watching.

    Why not just switch the wires on the capacitor?

  • @terrysookhoo2528

    All da matrix n could just switch on d capacitor

    Now see, this is why you have a You Tube channel and I don't. I would have just mounted the motor on the other side if it was going the wrong direction and, If I needed to remove heat shrink tubing, I'd have put it in the freezer to expand it. ;-)

      Sometimes, you just need to give it a shot. I was not sure how this one would turn out.
