- Marshall Rosenberg - How to Prepare People for Your Weirdness
Marshall Rosenberg talks about how to prepare people for your weirdness and practicing non-violent communication.
About Living Non-Violent Communication
You’re about to have an uncomfortable meeting with your boss. The principal just called about your middle-schooler. You had a fight with your partner and it’s an hour before bed. You know your next move will go a long way toward defining your relationships with these individuals. So what do you do? We all find ourselves in situations similar to these and too often resort to the same old patterns of behavior-defending our need to be right, refusing to really listen, speaking cruelly out of anger and frustration, or worse. But there is another way. Living Nonviolent Communication gives you practical training in applying Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s renowned process in nearly every scenario in everyday life.

the world needs non-violent communication now
I'm immersed in study of the NVC teachings. I learned today that he passed in 2015 and this has caused my heart deep sadness. But it also emboldens me on my mission to carry his work and teachings into the future. ❤
He had such a great message. Thanks for carrying on his work with so many of us, Jana.
This is the first time I've heard this kind of process and communication. I'm a psychotherapist and have been for years. I am grateful to Marshall for his work and teachings, and I'm now going to do one of his courses. I know I have struggled with communication even though I trained in many different disciplines. I'm definitely going to create this as a new way to connect. I hope I can do this. It's truly amazing and wonderful to hear so many stories and people being affected by this way of connection.
There's definitely such as thing as Soy-boy authoritarianism that would make people dance on delicate eggshells, or they are accused of being impure witches. Civil liberties can easily get lost in all this.
@@equinox1976 Interesting, because he starts his comment here by saying; "when he's ATTACKED", so he might already primed to BE the victim and and others are the "vile violent people". This kind of thinking prime for using the state (if they can) to oppress or do away with those they already believe are beneath them in ethics and what not.
Please share you learning and journey. I would be excited to hear how this effects your communication and the results of it.
Of course you can do it! Remember that it is your nature to be compassionate, and NVC’s tools will help you call it forth. It’s a process anyone can learn. You can even practice NVC without ever uttering a word.
How's it going?
A new way of using words can frighten people, but I found that once they understand that my intention is to create a dialogue that gets much better results than the language we often use, they are more willing to put up with the "weird" way of talking.
Marshall, when I read your materials and heard you share the substance of NVC I feel deeply alleviated and thankful because I was needing to connect to, and practice the language of needs for life and your work helped meet that need in me.
Marshal has passed away many years ago ...his work continues with his grace
RIP xxx thank you for the healing words you gave to the world
Thank you for your beautiful comments, Sa.
Marshall Rosenberg is one of my favorite authors at Sounds True. He will be missed. Though I am glad his insights live on through video.
Thank you Marshall Rosenberg
Please, more of Marshal Rosenberg
Gifted genius of the highest category.
I just bumped into this and really liked that the NVC video was added here.
I disagree with the NVC method but I most definitely love Marshall Rosenberg, one of the smartest most beautiful person I ever saw.
I’m curious what about the NVC method you disagree with. I’m still looking into it and while the spiritual part of it doesn’t resonate with me, it seems like a useful communication tool.
@CwispyAirtune hi,
I have I think two main problems with NVC, one is that there is a a wrong form of talking (jackel) this tends to make people judgmental towars ways of expression. There the giraffe ears but there is a better way which is not putting any emphasis on the content or its form. Another problem is that the method is too complicated, too much attention is needed to follow its structure.
I found something much simpler which I call "attentive speaking". It means that the speaker must allow for each and every interruption by their listeners, even ask them to stop them whenever they hear something they disagree with.
This is a much simpler method relative to NVC and achieves something similar - it gets the sides closer to each other and to the truth of the matter.
I was hoping this was about explaining my neurodivergent weirdness.
Brilliant
Hi. Nice video. Could you tell me the name of music in the video.
Great. First one to see it on youtube.
Wow, you are truly amazing
This along with J Peterson stuff
Love this guy ... he's a bit of a chubby feller isn't he. Amazing insight into the people, I just want to hear everything he's ever said.
He was such an amazing teacher. Dr. Rosenburg will be missed but his teachings live on forever.
Not “ chubby”. The tummy is swollen from ascites, which is excess fluid. A frequent symptom in many cancers.
@@jeanenright9631 Considering that he (presumably, if the upload date is near the date this was filmed) died 3 years after this interview, then it makes complete sense.
Nie musisz zostań taka jaka jesteś
nice cult you got there
Yep, confirmed idiot
It real life magic, I have connected to such a deep level with people that I feel I am finally alive and part of myself and the community!
I am now living my emotions and my life has been enriched!
Unconditional love can seem that way to those who wish more of it in their life
im just left wondering... since the moment that i read your comment, are you yourself immersed in some way in a cult? or do u not know?
