I've been involved in wild avian rescue across the urban landscape in an Australian city for 4 decades. The ''rock pigeons'' are often maligned and called 'flying rats' where those who find them in an adverse situation are sometimes encouraged by others to forgo saving them. If you believe in freedom for birds, the right to fly and to be true to their own species but love feathered friends then a pigeon will offer all that is good about birds. I had a wild orphan. Chip was raised cage free and lived a flying life on the outside. She was bonded to myself and no other although she flew with a small flock on my property. She roosted on a ledge in the carport. She raised another orphan although that bird never bonded to me. The bird was a flock flyer. Chip used to fly above me when I rode my horse, peel off after 0.5kms to return home. When I returned she was always on the horse fence waiting for me. I have also raised hundreds of orphan parrot species to wild release. When you give parrots freedom to fly with their own kind these birds do not stay to keep ''friendship'' with humans. I always say don't own parrots. Have a pigeon and enjoy pure avian love. This is a wonderful video. I am so happy Bingi is loved and adored and happy. Thank you. Cecile...avian conservationist.
We can learn so much from people who love and can communicate "heart to heart" with birds; avian conservationists like you help us understand them too so 👍👏💚

THANK YOU!!! Pigeons have had bad PR. They're incredible birds, even helping humans fight in WW2 (look up Cher Ami y'all). I love them and it always saddnes me that people don't understand and even abuse them. We need to speak up and educate people, and we need more videos like this. Pigeons honestly would make fantastic emotional support animals.
Yup! We have a Rescued pigeon called Bubbie and she is awesome! However, she is in love with my hubby and 'protects' him from me so sometimes I have to threaten to bring out our marriage certificate! 😂😍😂😍😂😍
I lived in NYC for 2 years and everyone called pigeons “sky rats” I was terrified of them. It’s nice to see all that love and affection given to such a beautiful bird with so much personality 🫶🏼
Isn't it a strange human trait to always dismiss and disrespect those equally social animals that manage to adapt to our species invasive exploitation? Rats, pigeons, gulls, you name it, always the same when they in fact put up with us and take what's left to scavenge to bring to their young.
Because the urban pigeon only eats garbage and the excrement of other animals, its own excrement spreads diseases. A small child with asthma can die if they inhale pigeon droppings
Way cool! You are so sweet and generous to give love to a creature that many people refer to in terrible ways. I won't mention the reference. Well done you, Bingi found his BEST life.
Birds in general are more difficult to keep as pets because they can't be toilet trained. But now that you can use diapers on them it's so much easier. I love that his dad says "Bingi is the centre of the universe". I wish everyone who has a pet felt the same way about them.
Thanks! I wondered how people managed the toilet training. Two babies hatched on my balcony while I was in the hospital for 4mths until September '22. They come by here daily. The babies are not afraid of me, but I am clueless as to how to handle them.
@@LemonThyme1933 To hold them cup your hands and keep the head facing towards you, It feels quite natural when you get used to it, also put a little seed out for them and they will love you forever.
Birds develop good toilet habits with help from people. Introduce them to a perch stand or some specific spot consistently (w/protected newspaper wrapped at the bottom) the first thing after letting them out from their aviary, they will usually do their business and remain to preen. And like people, they often establish patterns of behavior - watch out and protect those destinations (i.e., paper towel runner on top cabinets). If held in place w/masking tape or small weights - a breeze to change as needed & no flying debris. Small packets of tissues/wipes strategically tucked away but in easy reach protect & take care of the "little deposits" quickly and cleanly. When staining foods like blueberries are consumed be ready & ready! It is critical to keep areas sanitary & safe for birds & those that love them!
@@LMTino I've had several large birds in my life and wasn't successful in training any of them to have good toilet habits. Wanting them to have freedom in the house during the day was a bit stressful because you can't always be watching for the "little deposits". It would have been so much easier with the bird diapers that are available nowadays. I know exactly what you mean about the blueberries. My neighbour planted a bunch of blueberry bushes in her backyard. The crows eat all of the berries and then leave their "not so little deposits" all over the patio in my backyard. 😒
I remember being shocked to learn that pigeons aren't wild, the pigeons we know are effectively feral and pigeons can make great pets as long as you don't remove them from their pair bond.
Thank you. I love your perspective on these beautiful smart birdies. I adore them too. It's so sad that people dislike them so much and accuse them of being dirty disease spreading aves. I've helped feral pigeons when sick or injured bringing them into my home and never been concerned that they'd make me ill. The opposite seeing them recover and go back outside fills my heart. Or heartbroken if one didn't survive. They have the sweetest energy. Beautiful birds.
I have a pigeon who couldn't fly as she got entangled in Kite's string since then she has been living with us. She is very much like Bingi 😊 She is a family member to us.
I have like 70 pigeons who all see me as a part of their flock. They are amazing birds with emotional intelligence. Everybody had pigeons 100 years ago. It’s a part of our history that we seem to neglect
I started feeding pigeons once, usually at around 12 noon. It took them only about 2/3 days to realise when I would come out and put some food out at 12 noon, and they'd be there. How the hell they knew what time it was, I didn't know. Some would even land on my shoulders as I was putting the food out. They don't seem to have much fear of people either. Walking up the highstreet you can literally walk right past them and they don't fly away.
Whoever this kid’s father is… You’ve raised one hell of a good son! It’s wonderful to have people like him in the world. and of course Bingi is adorable

I love your pigeon
I Feed pigeons every day they.are .Very intelligent
This man is amazing!!! Thank you for being kind, and saving this sweet bird ❤❤
I love how the two of you are so connected! Just beautiful!❤
It's sweet that you adopted him.❤
The story is really heartwarming and i love pigeons but what a wonderful young person! Never change❤
Yup! We have a Rescued pigeon called Bubbie and she is awesome! However, she is in love with my hubby and 'protects' him from me so sometimes I have to threaten to bring out our marriage certificate! 😂😍😂😍😂😍
😂
😅
You make a Perfect Pappa to your Precious Pigeon They are so Smart and Beautiful Birds.
Rats are clever and so are pigeons .Neither carry weapons .Where as most in US do and use them ! Ok the defecate .What life form doesn't ..?
@@gnarbeljo8980 spot on and doesn't say much for those who view these clever life forms as garbage.
Pigeons impress me and are so peaceful .
Because the urban pigeon only eats garbage and the excrement of other animals, its own excrement spreads diseases. A small child with asthma can die if they inhale pigeon droppings
You and Bingi. Perfect together. What a kind and compassionate man you are. Thank you for being that way.
Way cool! You are so sweet and generous to give love to a creature that many people refer to in terrible ways. I won't mention the reference. Well done you, Bingi found his BEST life.
Pigeon's have something very special about them!
So touchingly sweet when he finally gave himself up to the magic words I love Binji so much❤
I also love pigeons very much. They really know how to communicate with us. You are happy! ❤❤❤
@@gibbs677bg Lovely - mimics the security of the nest!
Wow, what a beautiful, gorgeous amazing bird.
My love to Bingi.
All the way in Switzerland.
Thats an awesome story! Bingy looks really majestic! How fateful some encounters are and steer us ways we wouldnt have imagined..
This is a great story. What a beautiful pigeon Bingi is! That feathered hairdo on the back of his head is everything!
I remember being shocked to learn that pigeons aren't wild, the pigeons we know are effectively feral and pigeons can make great pets as long as you don't remove them from their pair bond.
Absolutely adorable! You and Bingi! Thank you for sharing this amazing story. Love is strange sometimes but its love.
Beautiful in every way. This man and his pigeon have the coolest bond and love. Thank you for sharing their story!!
I have a pet pigeon, such a loving bird.
What a precious personality this pidgeon has!
Beautiful video, rare to see someone care about a pigeon this much! Hopefully, the video will change the way people feel about pigeons🐦
Yes absolutely....👍
Wonderful story 💙🙏🤍
I live in Seattle Washington and feed pigeons everyday. They recognize me when I come out. It is nice of you taking care of your pigeon.
I love the creative and colorful "diapers"
I have a pigeon who couldn't fly as she got entangled in Kite's string since then she has been living with us. She is very much like Bingi 😊 She is a family member to us.
Bonding with wild animals must be so cool.
Your respect and love for this animal being is delightful.
I'm so glad you found each other! 🐦☁️ ❤
Sweet story. Birds and other animals are quite smart and emotional.
What a beautiful baby
What a great son you are to warm the duck for him. ❤
His head feathers and his lil coos are so cute...
What a wonderful story! Heartwarming, uplifting, joyous. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
Super cute. :D
Birds are extremely smart......
Yes agree 😊
Truth
This is such a wonderful video. Your dad blessed you and now you and Bingi have each other, as another blessing. I love this 💜🙏🏾😍
Highly intelligent. They make wonderful house pets.
Thank you so much for loving Bingi and sharing his story!! This makes extremely happy! He really is a wonderful boy!! I LOVE animals so much!
The underwater shots were hysterical 🤣
Beautiful, pigeons were used extensively in the war, braving enemy fire to save many people… I’m glad you found a loving friend ❤️❤️❤️
