- Let's have a little chat with 2X former NHRA Stock Eliminator world champ Jim Hughes. I met Jim right before heading to the airport and decided to turn the camera on so as not to miss any opportunities. Check out that shifter handle and the old school way Jim rows through the gearbox! Enjoy from the not so distant archives!

Bobby does a great job with his interviews!
My favorite Stock Eliminator racer,I remember when he was racing thunder valley dragway in Marion south dakota
Another awesome interview by Bobby.
Jim - a 2 time Champion - “always a stick in my cars”. Phenomenal!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jim is a diehard stick guy who won Stock Eliminator World Championships in 1983 and 1989.
Guys like this are the true backbone of drag racing. Not too far off the way things were when this car was new!
Definitely! I wish I could see it run more often. Please subscribe to my channel if you could. Thanks.
He is still dialing this car in it's a beauty for sure, he will get it there, he is the hard core old school type less high technology standard race car from his Era, that's no surprise that kind of my favorite type of guy to hoot and hollor for.
It's hard not to root for him! Thanks Doug. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't.
Jim is one of the best guys you will ever meet! He is such a knowledgable person!
Love this. I remember his awesome 375 horse L78 Nova, great 10 sec car with a bench seat. Quoting Motortrend "Back in the August 1985 issue of Super Chevy, we featured the NHRA C/Stock record holder-Jim Hughes' 10.90 e.t. powerhouse."
love Stockers......
These vids are so fun to watch! Must say that the 68-72 Novas were my favorite GM bodies. Always looked sinister with big meats!
Thank you. I like the 66-67 nova. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t!
Had a ‘68 SS Nova 327 cu in, 4 speed. Loved that car!
Brings back memories. Keep these videos coming Bobby, hats off to you and all the drivers👌
Thanks Mark, please subscribe to my channel if you could.
I ran Jim at Salt Lake City in 1989. He beat me in semi finals
I’m just here because I seen Fazio.
Interesting, very similar to my street cruiser ‘71 Nova in dark metallic blue with 402 and M20 4 spd built as L78 clone.
Good video and cool car it close to the way i would set up my vette
What.?.. no details about shift points or launch rpm.?
I'm bewildered & heartbroken.
Nice car..I like it...
I enjoy these interviews but what is up with the sound on some of them?
dialing in , braking out , rules suck
Yes but it's the only way to keep parity in the class. Otherwise the richest and fastest would win every time and we already have classes like that. Please subscribe to my channel if you could. Thanks.
