It’s great that 4K 60 is available in full frame as well as crop mode! I hope the A7S IV will have that feature as well. Remember that you can happily ignore the 180 degree guideline when you’re not filming moving subjects. No need to use f18 for testing high ISO noise. Just use shutter speed to get a proper exposure.
I already used it enough and that was the last test I did. He actually had some guidelines of things I couldn’t do so that was the fastest thing on my mind. But your right, just shutter speed would have sufficed.
It is more “amateur” but it’s more of an addition without taking any pro usability away. I prefer to use all physical buttons for quick changes. But I gave my camera to a friend to use really quick and he was able to just click the screen like an iPhone and use it. So it can be useful.
Remember, 4k is only 8.3mp. Even in crop mode using 10mp, it’s still slightly oversampled and full 4k. So no real loss in quality truly but also not the full 6k downsampled either.
Sony is almost randomly having their reps go city to city and to various shops. When I called last week, every shop was ho hum about it. So not something I think you can plan on. But a pleasant surprise nonetheless. Really has me debating selling my A1 as mostly a video shooter.

im very surprised how sony put the amateur style touch UI in the a9III. I hope they also add it to the rV
