I'm glad you gave Skynyrd another chance. They are a solid classic rock band. I play this song for my son, he is 9. I'm hoping the message of the song and my parenting skills help him achieve being a "simple man" ❤
You got this momma!!!
Amen
One of the greatest rock songs of all time simple as that
yugster78 idk about that, but I know for a fact they had two of the best guitarists of that genre in one band
@@justinwilder3514 all 4 guitarists were amazing
That's one of my all time favorites.
These people lived and died, and left behind a way to know them in their music. Don't get wrapped up in the loss, celebrate their art.
Well said
The world is a better place for them having been in it
I danced to this song with my mother at my wedding for our mother/son dance.
I read your comment and I immediately started crying. That's a beautiful thought.
me too man
John Rein my moms literally about to get married in June and I was thinking of showing her this song to dance with her on her wedding day.
Man that guy could sing with an insane amount of heart and soul. The conviction in his voice blows me away. I've heard this song countless times and it still gets me.
This is the best song ever written. Simple, truthful and from the heart. ❤️❤️❤️
"Follow your heart, and nothing else!! Don't forget son, there is someone up above!!" I dedicated this song to my first son back in 1979!!
What I liked about this is how you talked about ”she said this here...or that there" even though these are HIS words of what she told him. It's a picture he painted very well
Ronnie Van Zant wanted to be a professional boxer and idolized Muhammad Ali. Just an interesting factoid.
I love this song, it's like my mother told me until her last days 16 years ago. Is like God and Her are back in my head every day telling me "calm down, you can do it".
Have a great day Vin and Sori...
...Hail to The Village!!
Thank you so much for doing this song! It's one of those songs that reminds me of my brother. It took a while for me to be able to listen to this without breaking down. I love this tune so fucking much!
Check out “That Smell” by Skynyrd. It has some great guitar work and a great message to it.
Whiskey bottle, brand new car, oak tree you're in my way.
Having listened to this song for basically 40 years now, it's impact changes through life, from when I was young and identifying as the son, to now raising my own son. Still can give me the chills, it's a damn good song.
Vin and Sori i just want to thank you both for helping me realize the true meaning of this song and many others that you have decrypted , i believe i was blinded by how beautiful it sounded and just couldn't hear the importance of the words. I am very young at 23 to be finding out this huge deeper meaning but i feel thankful to be able to know this early in my life so i dont have to change myself for other people anymore i just have to look inside myself for the answer. When i find someone that i can love, start a family with and have children one day il have the words to explain. i appreciate the hard work and honesty u are doing for those in need including the ones who didn't even know they needed this kind of help.
Ronnie never wrote the lyrics down for any Skynyrd song because he said "if you have to write them down" they ain't good enough. This song is a total masterpiece of a song from beginning to end, R.I.P. Ronnie Van Zant, who was taken from us way too young, but never ever, EVER forgotten.
I just saw Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company on Lynyrd Skynyrd's farewell tour. They were amazing.
Always, Vin. Be a simple man. Always.
Best reaction of Lynyrd Skynyrd I have seen you guys do yet. You did your research
beautiful simple song with such amazing lyrics.
Thanks for playing ! My favorite band of ALL time !!! God bless.....
My all time fave song. Thanks for this reaction. Love from Scotland
React creedence clearwater revival fortunate son
nice idea
Green River
They seriously need to dive into Creedence...no doubt!!
No, Proud Mary
They had so many awesome songs, it's easy to overlook one or two when making lists...
Fun fact! The plane that Skynyrd was on when it went down was actually supposed to be used buy another band going on tour. That was band was Aerosmith!!! They ended up passing on the plane because the tour manager decided the plane was not safe enough to use for a tour. Just imagine how different classic rock would be with more Skynyrd and less Aerosmith.
Moral of the story: Get a good manager!
The ballad of Curtis Loew! there were only 3 killed in the crash, Ronnie Van Zant , guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister backup singer Cassie Gaines. It wasn't 80 %
Yeah, but RVZ alone was really the heart and soul of the band. He was the lead singer, the main songwriter/lyricist, the band was never close to same after that. A form of the band lives on, but the true Lynyrd Skynyrd died that day.
To me when Ronnie died, not only did Skynyrd die, the entire genre died with him.
Also ballad of Curtis Lowe plzzzzzzzzz. I BEG u
i second this!!
Jerry Moad J.R. Yes, I’ve already recommended this one! Love that one.
I requested this song on their first skynyrd song reaction and this one
I'm glad I was one of the people that have suggested this song for your reaction. I had the feeling that you would like it.
Thank you , Vin and Sori, for giving them a chance, love you guys.
Call me the Breeze! Come on people, you gotta do it. Great job guys, as always.
"The Needle and the Spoon" and one of the best road songs ever "Call Me the Breeze"
Ronnie Van Zant is a very complex and down to earth personality. Allot of Skynyrd's songs were just fun feel good songs that tell a story, like "Gimme Three Steps" and "Working For MCA". Then there were songs like this and "That Smell" and "Saturday Night Special" that were very deep and profound in it's simplicity
Wow lil respect shown, didn’t think that would happen. Balled of Curtis Loew is a must.
This is a great, solid song.... period!
My little brother fell into a depression and committed suicide. He wanted this song played at his funeral so my mom had it played. Another awesome video guys.
Damn... sorry for your loss
@@VinAndSori Thank You guys
If you're going for classic rock Boston More Than A Feeling. Or if you just going for classic Simon & Garfunkel Bridge Over Troubled Water
Finally ! I’ve been suggesting this a long time guys !
The song is about perspective !
Y'all are on point with this one. Great job
We love ya reaction s and channel together. Powerful, powerful classic song that will stay on top forever
In an interview, Eric Clapton once intimated that he had all the money, fame, fans, and women he ever dreamed of but all he thought of was suicide.
Clapton is/was overrated. Jack Bruce was the real heart of Cream, and deserves more accolades.
Excellent guitar playing. And the Singer has SOUL.
The message of this song is beautiful, next time listen to Black Sabbath "After Forever", and a song that passes a good message also in spite of that good old weight of Iommi, Butler, Ward and Ozzy.
after forever is good material for a theological discussion.
Vin & Sori, I love your reaction of this song.
You 2 are a gift to humanity.
You Should do The Ballad of Curtis Loew
Great song
Agreed
I heard he was the finest picker
😉
Needle And The Spoon, one of my favourites.
Thank you for this ❤ my go to song when i feel sad or life don't go as I planed. Helloween - Keeper of the seven keys 🎃
Pantera - Slaughtered. Its about religion. You guys will have a lot to talk about. Plus its probably their heaviest song.
Isuzu, I see pantera as the modern version of Skynyrd !
@@67cuda38 Yeah fo sho. Dime was definitely influenced by them.
Beautiful song. God bless Lynyrd.
Anthrax - In My World, Indians, Inside Out and What Doesn't Die
Yes boy, more Anthrax
(Adds Be All, End All...)
Caught in a mosh, im the man
Type O Negative - Wolf Moon and Haunted
BE SOMEONE YOU LOVE AND UNDERSTAND AND BE LOVED FOR WHAT YOU ARE NOT WHAT THE OTHERS WANT YOU TO BECOME...
Plz do Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing (Alchemy Live)
Oh yeah! One of the best band's ever :)
The irony is that after they made it, the teacher would go on tour with them and announce them coming out.
I appreciate the hard work and effort you guys put into these reactions. In a similar theme, I'd love to see your reaction to
Puscifer - Momma Sed. The live version at the Nokia is amazing, but studio is awesome too. Love your videos, and I hope you all are doing well in every way possible. ❤
Absolute Classic. Good job guys we knew you would love it. We have strayed a long way from nu metal but you guys are doing a great job following the bread crumbs through most of our musical histories.
My favorite Skynyrd song. Glad you gave it a listen.
Vin and Sori, if you love Lynyrd you should do some Kansas! They are awesom, saw them (and recent incarnation of Lynyrd) on Sweden Rock festival a bunch of years ago! Kansas was pure magic, so damn good!
It is spelled Lynyrd Skynyrd*, just for future reference, lol.
Exactly what I was gonna post
I think they did it on purpose.
Possibly. This is the 3rd time they have misspelled it, lol. A different way each time.
They did it on purpose I'm sure . They spelled it correctly in previous videos
Actually it is spelled Leonard Skinner......band's plays on words is kinda sarcasm to their former high school coach & teacher from Jackonville , Florida. Mr. Skinner was an hard ass to his students especially ones with long hair in the early '70's. When band wanted to name their band, they came up Lyrnyrd Skynyrd like a protest to him. But Mr. Skinner & the band healed their wounds years later. Even band invited Coach Skinner to be onstage. Coach Skinner is mentioned in the liner notes at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - LK was inducted in the hall.
Loved the reaction and discussion. You two are cool!
thanks for giving them another chance I love this band I grew up on classic rock and southern rock and I live just a few hours from where their plane crashed in Mississippi
Anthrax with John Bush - 'Only', 'What doesn't Die' or 'Safe Home' at best
Also, speaking on their record label thing, Lynyrd Skynyrd - Workin' for MCA is another good listen :) - Lisa
I'm 47. Younger people I think.. overthink everything. It just means, be the best you can be, better today than yesterday. That's all his momma was saying.
Wow you guys are amazing. Quoting the scriptures..instant subscribe!
Angel Witch - Baphomet
Satan - Trial by Fire
Witchfinder General - Witchfinder General
Saw the song title, though how Vin would love this immediately.
Classic Guys. Powerful song.
Excellent breakdown of the lyrics and and
The meaning to you two very preceptor interpretation I am very impressed thank you vin and sori
Thank you
Great Reaction "Put it in a vault and bring it out" "More important now than when it was written" Awesome Vin and Sori
The song is a lament for his/their (the brothers) mom as well as wisdom for their fans.
Brilliant review and discussion... However please may I ask you two to review more AMON AMARTH it has been far too long now since your last reaction: Father of the Wolf, Death in Fire, One Thousand Burning Arrows, Blood Eagle, Thousand Years of Oppression, Under the Northern Star, On Northern Shores, The Pursuit of Vikings, Raise Your Horns.🤘🏻🤘🏻
when i was a kid and heard this on the radio, i would always daydream about what the music video would be like if it had one and i would always think of a mom and son sitting on the front step of their house talking and the lyrics being the mom talking to the son.
Great song! That Smell is my personal favorite.
Great reaction Angra - Carry On
Again I see the seeds of Metal in this sort of rock!
This is such a great song. One of Skynyrd's best
Love you guys and your outlook. Just subscribed!
Next Skynyrd song you two should react to should be That Smell
They lived their dream, so Its beautiful in the end.
That's Ronnie singing, his brother took over the band after Ronnie died. He does a wicked version of freebird 1976 version, awesome.
Iron Maiden- Revelations or Wasted Years.
Man this always makes me cry
You all need to really watch the Showtime special ...If I leave here tomorrow. It will really inform you and help you understand Skynyrd. Where they are from
and what they are about.
The best lyrics ever
The scorpions always somewhere was inspired by this song
Shinedown's cover of this is incredible. Great vid, guys.
You guys need to react to their song That Smell.
Thank you xxx
Pantera - No Good (Attack the Radical) would be a great song to breakdown. Not only Dime's great riffs but also Phil's lyrics about racial divides.
The only song that has ever made me cry.
Very refreshing reaction show
I chose Shinedown's version of Simple Man for the song for the Mother-Son dance at my wedding reception.
Epica - Kingdom of heaven (Live)
White Buffalo - The Whistler
please
I will second almost anything off that album. Its really effing good
@@kzed. he hasn't made a bad album yet
But that album is something special
I will 3rd this comment
EL CHONG Hell fucking yes! Love that man and his music!
If you like that song, y’all should check out Whitey Morgan’s cover of the Townes song “Waitin Around to Die.”
Hell of a tune.
@@The_Lone_Outlaw
Awesome, I will check that out!
I love this song!
(If I'm Wrong) Songwriters: ALLEN COLLINS,GARY ROBERT ROSSINGTON,RONNIE VAN ZANT
Just the other day I heard my friend say
Life was oh so bad, love was all he had
You know all day long I sing sad songs
Got the blues feel
Things no doctor can heal
You know thats ok I never change my ways
Maybe i am wrong, but I'll soon be gone
If i fail , no one can ever tell
if i'm wrong, i soon be gone
If i fail , no one can ever tell
if i'm wrong, i soon be gone
i don't need no friends, i don't play no games
i need lots of room to roam, before i go home
you know someday, lord if things go my way
i'll have a son of my own, left here to carry on
if i fail , no one can ever tell
if i'm wrong, i soon be gone
Sori nailed it exactly. Value lies in the heart not in a bank account.
Leonard Skinner was their high school coach despising those long haired hippy looking drug users which they werent. Ronny Van Zandt kicked his brother Donny out of the band for his rock star downfalls. Donny started his own band .38 Special. Ronny recorded Mr. Saturday Night Special as a message to lil brother Donny.
A .38 is known as a Sat. Night Special.
Donny is currently lead singer of Lynerd Skynard. Hes learned well thanks to Ronny.
That’s funny you say that, because I see pantera as the modern Lynyrd Skynyrd ! Southern rock, and southern thrash. My 2 favorite bands, if I might be so bold ? Complete outstanding originals ! Both blew up fast once they got it together ! Very catchy tunes. Musical gold ! Both surrounded with tragedies ! Both could have only been created in the south, of the United States of America 🇺🇸 !
Portal - Curtain
Carcass - Heartwork
White Zombie - Electric Head 1 and 2. Waiting.........
Would like to see your reaction to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "That Smell" or "Saturday Night Special". Those two might spark an interesting conversation...
There is a saying that there are three versions of everyone. The way you see yourself, the way you think others see you, and the way others actually see you.
Just by chance, this was the first song I heard on the radio the morning after Dime was killed; so I think of him every time I hear this.
