I love when you share information about fabric. Although I have been sewing for a long time, my education in regards to fabric is just beginning to really blossom, thanks to videos like this. I really enjoy all your content.❤
Thank you, lighthseskr! I appreciate this very much. I have been so fortunate to be around good fabric stores for so long. It's a joy to share what I find. Happy Sewing!
Love Lady McElroy fabrics! I’m planning a denim Sienna Maker Jacket from Closet Core. You’re so lucky to have that beautiful Scottish wool. I work in a fabric store so it’s a very dangerous time of year for me. If I could sew as fast as I come up with ideas…
Hello, marieg2815, Your jacket sounds delightful! Yes, I AM fortunate to have this piece of Scottish wool and you are fortunate to be in such a dangerous place! 😂 Thank you for your fun comment and Happy Sewing!
I have some pieces of Harris Tweed that are on the thick side. It gets quite bulky when seams meet and I get four layers. Any tips on the best way to trim the seams-- especially for the collar?
Hi, Sally, Good question for everyone. I grade the seam allowances and the widest is the one on the top to sort of cover the under seams. Sometimes I make the undercollar out of another fabric, like some men's jackets. If you ever see a man's jacket collar with another fabric for the undercollar, it is often sewng with hand stitches and no seam allowances to help eliminate this bulk. Something for me to address in a video. Thanks for this comment and happy sewing!
Hi, Debbie, Thank you for alerting me to this. Before I contact the person who helps me with technical things, if you would please try this link and get back to me I would deeply appreciate it. www.sewwithsally.com/slopers If the problem persists, I will have to get some help. Hi Sally (sent this via email, but it bounced!) Following on from you tube requesting the Slopers information. Also, if you could help with a related query regarding making a full size Sloper from a miniature version. Many thanks Regards Debbie
@@debbieludgate737 Hi, Debbie, I will figure out the sloper guide situation. In the meantime, you are asking me about making a full size sloper from a miniature version?Do you mean from a half scale form? If that is what you mean, you can take a mini version to a printer,(Staples, for one) and have it blown up. Since it was not draped or taped on a specific body, you will still have to do some fitting corrections. Hope this helps.
@@debbieludgate737 Hi, again, Debbie, I tried and had the same experience. I will have to check into this and get back to you. Only a day or so ago I am sure everything was working so thank you for letting me know and once it is cleared up I will let you know. Have a nice evening!
