Building a pole barn house is in my plans in near future but mine will be a 40by80 with 4 bedrooms and open floor plan for youngest son and his wheelchair
Xaforn we are putting in pocket doors and wider doors to accommodate a wheelchair. The only doors that open will be the front and back door - all others are pocket - the front door being a double door. We have also made the bathroom wheelchair accessible. The shower will not have a step in at all and toilet has nothing next to it, leaving enough space for a wheelchair. I will place a loose cabinet next to the toilet until my husband or I have to be in a wheelchair - then I can just remove it. We are breaking ground in 2021. The property has been surveyed and we need a PERC test and septic put in. I’m nervously excited about the whole thing 😁
love your home we talked about doing that for years, 20 years ago I built a 24x36 wood shop pole barn and finished it myself, now we are in an apartment bit considering a home but property in Cullman Alabama is so expensive don't think we coild do it besides being 77 not so sure I still have what it takes ! We used the shiplap siding in our basement when we finished it off but we varnished with clear and it turned out beautiful it darkened the wood just slightly. You did an awesome job !! Very beautiful home !

I will be building soon 40 by 80, of course I think I will do a lot of my purchases myself like you guys did, because if the contractor does it it will cost an extra few hundred just because he drove there picked it and drove back to the site. Home Depot and Lowe's will become my best friends.

I always wanted to do this. But since the envelope is so cheap I envisioned larger building with 12' ceilings so parts could be 2 story. I would start with 1000sf. Then add on when I felt needed

I'm from the north east, I don't have any "box fans" but I do have a 20" , 18" and 14" high velocity floor fans, 3 window fans and an oscillating fan.

Bryan Van Vorce I was thinking 32x36 for us, 2 larger bedrooms and a decent bathroom. Love the open floor plan, much easier with wheelchairs.
