Funfact: Loki is weak to Bless, which Cendrillon has in spades, so that could be why Akechi stayed out of the first fight.
Cendrillon is weakened to curse so t would be an even match up.

He also hinted that his methods of fighting would be too lethal to use against someone they wanted alive.

Akechi gets really battle hungry too, to the point of bloodlust. So that is another reason he backed out.

@@ace-trainer-aj If Maruki resurrected Kasumi, none of this would have happened! I was expecting him to explain why he didn't do that like he did with Wakkaba and Okumura.
As guilty as Sumire felt about causing her sister's death. I think she was too terrified to go back to being in her Kasumi's shadow (in her mind)

Didn't realize when I was playing but Maruki pretty much made her persona go magatsu
In a nutshell
For the Kasumi/Sumire part, I just entered with a Girimehkala with Repel Bless and guarded each turn reflecting all of her attacks back. Aside from turning Joker into Luigi, I feel it's also more poetic that way, where Sumire keeps denying the truth but in the end she's only harming herself.
So you basically did a "No U" on her

It's pretty cool that she's the second party member we fight in the game. If only her battle lasted a bit longer.
and you weren't supposed to wait for anyone to show up as at this point the games know you are or supposedly are capable enough to face high-level threats duo to having finished the OG game
I think it was made to be short, part because Cendrillon is the real boss, but also because Sumire wasn't strong enough to face the reality, so, she was weaker in this fight
Maruki's hair in this scene kinda reminds me of both Nanjo and Ryoji 😅

Does anyone else feel horrible for attacking her directly in the first phase? (Or at least feel that it's more poetic to reflect her own attacks back at her, as it basically symbolizes that she's only hurting herself?)
i never liked how after a new phantom thief joined they were just as strong as your party like wtf we've been training nonstop and you just awaken able to beat god, the only times it made sense to me was when makoto,akechi, and futaba joined
If Maruki was evil from the start, I doubt the Phantom Thieves would even have a chance to defeat him with that kind of power

Yeah, this shouldn't be a hard fight as long as I have a Persona with Null Bless and Reflect/Absorb Physical like Arabahaki, Abaddon, or Rangda. I haven't made it to this point just yet. Sumire is agile and a pretty hard hitter, but she seems easy to take down in terms of defense. I don't know why, but I was a bit disgusted with Sumire during this battle. I know she's been through a lot with the PTSD, but she shouldn't let herself be manipulated that easily by Maruki. I'm glad Joker chose to be harsh with her to get the point across. If he didn't care for Sumire, then he could have easily killed her with his Wild Card power.
I used Lucifer with drain bless and null physical concentrate with morning star......it was a bloodbath

@@SterneStarfrost Yes, I can certainly agree with that. I think a bit of my inner Akechi is gonna come out in this fight. If it snaps Sumire back to her senses by being harsh physically and verbally with "You need to stop" when given the option. To be quite frank, I didn't like Sumire at all during the fight.

he’s keeping the smaller enemies alive at low health because she takes health from them so when she does heal from them she gets a low amount of HP back

Man, i just cant win that fight. I end the other fight always so low, and all my personas are so weak againts that Boss, every attack they Critic me, fear me, and i dont have any response to that. The problem is that i cant do anything, the other save i have is 10 hours prior, and Akechi is weak too against all his attacks. Im thinking about giving up... i just cant win and cant load to the prior day of anything

He forced it to come out. When a persona is forced to come out, it will become reversed and go berserk.
