Hi @Karabo, thank you for an educative video. I like planting and seeing plants grow. Big ups to your philanthropic spirit of teach people life skills. Self home gardening is a good approach to ensuring food security.
Spoonkz with the way things are going I hope that all South Africans have started growing their own food by now or at least have given it a thought. Thanks for your videos hope you are well
MC - AgriTech its a pleasure my guy!! ♥️ im glad i could give you some options for your next grow!! You must let me know what you thinking of growing! I love it tooo, being able to eat something you’ve grown yourself is just something else very different!! ♥️
Good stuff bru👊 Where about in SA you from? Here in Durban we don't get frost, so I'm sure we could get away with growing more varieties🤔 Thanks sharing 👍
Great video. Bright lights and fishhook is called Swiss chard in America, I love them to eat.😊 Your garden and backyard looks very nice. I wish my spinach would take off like yours, bugs love to eat it. My garden loves kale and yes it’s good in smoothies or salad.
Hi,have you changed your name ? Keep going with these videos spoonkz.I'd love to know more about life in South Africa ..that would be really interesting especially for us here in UK,I don't think we get a very rounded view. Also what about some cooking,do you cook with these veges or does someone else, some typical south African dishes might be nice ?
Upenda Sana hey!!!!! Yeah i did change it, this was my first name and wanted to stick with it. Definitely will continue, i have another idea for a garden video that will be coming soon! Thank you sooooo much for the suggestion, i actually wanted to do a mukbang soon and maybe i can eat something that’s traditionally south african? Or i can do a vlog of how im spending the time in lockdown in south africa? Thank you sooo much for your comment ey truly helps with the kind of stuff i should be posting
That's OK Spookz,I suppose it depends on who you thought your audience might be,other South Africans or people over here in UK/Europe/around the world who would find some vlogs about life in south Africa or culture there really interesting. It would be great to see how you are dealing with the lockdown and also a mukbang.I wouldn't underestimate the interest and value of the life in south Africa though,I think you would have stories to tell and info to share that would give great insight and that not many people elsewhere might know about other than through news and usually not always positive about life in South Africa. But you do whatever you are comfortable with.I think you are a good communicator and wouldn't underestimate your contribution here on YT.Take care Spoonkz.Your English is impeccable btw,you speak better than most native English speakers !!!
@@youngju8494 my produce is minimal my friend. I am growing peppers at the moment. I got the seeds from peppers that I bought from the shop. Bell and Pimento peppers. All you need to do is dry them out in the sun. My plants have just started to flower. I did the same with tomatoes (dry out the seeds of the tomato as the small liquid covering is a germination inhibiter). I hope this information helps you aquire some free seeds. 😁
@@youngju8494 hello again. I grow on small scale for my family to eat. It saves money and tastes better than the shop. Thanks for the information. I shall keep it in mind if I grow too much. 👍😁👍
Deshani Naik hey Deshani!!! ♥️ thank you soo much tor commenting! ♥️ well a number of reasons, i like that it attracts bees and butterflies, it also deters aphids that like to hang around cabbage and other veggies and it also helps the soild fertility and finally it adds a nice pop of colour to the garden!! Apologies for the delayed response also ♥️♥️
You should try and cut those leaves but sometimes it’s really hard to stop them from seeding. But lucky thing is that you can let them go to seed and the next season they will grow again. You can also fry shading the lettuce to keep it cool so it doesn’t start seeding
@@GardeningWithKaraboMahlase that's great! So which brand of seeds are u using, coz I bought the Starke Ayres brand and it's seedlings becomes soooo weak when am about to transplant them.
The tire said year round but several of the veggies listed are Spring only. Like lettuce, beet root and baby spinach. Cucumber won’t do well Into the hot summer days unless you grow West Indian gherkin Please change the title
I hope this was helpful!

Hi Karabo.. lovely video. I notice alot of marigolds amongst your crop. Any reason?

@@GardeningWithKaraboMahlase ahhh thank you! Now I know! Will definitely add some to my planters! Legend! Appreciate it :)
Thanks for the video and where do you get the seeds? Thanks for the answer as i want to start planting my own vegetable.
Mbombo Patience i get them at any nursery but they are cheaper at retail stores like checkers or picknpay
@@GardeningWithKaraboMahlase thanks so much, i will check it
Thanks for the tips bitso.
Thanks for watching my guy!
Thanks alot
Pleasure, thanks for watching 🙏🏾
Great video thank you
Thank you for watching!!
Thank you my brother
Thank you for watching!!
When you say it seeds, what are we looking for on the plant and how do we react to that?
I hope you’re talking about the lettuce? Yes so the leave will become smaller and the leaves will start tasting bitter
You should try and cut those leaves but sometimes it’s really hard to stop them from seeding. But lucky thing is that you can let them go to seed and the next season they will grow again. You can also fry shading the lettuce to keep it cool so it doesn’t start seeding
I surely have taken tips
Hi, I really enjoyed this... Started my own veggie garden thanks for the tips
Pleasure!! Keep us updated with how it’s going!
Big ups ey
🙏🏾
The 'large leaf 'spinach' is actually 'Chard' .
That’s right!!
This is lit man x
🔥🔥🔥
So you are using marigolds as a ground cover?
Yes using it as ground cover and also to attract more pollinators to the garden
Karabo in winter time with frost is the lettuce survived?
It depends on how cold it gets but usually lettuce enjoys the cold. Worst case would be that it starts seeding
Feel bad for kale coz it's my favorite🤣🤣immune buzzing 🤣🤣🤣
Lol I actually want to grow it again now lol
@@GardeningWithKaraboMahlase that's great! So which brand of seeds are u using, coz I bought the Starke Ayres brand and it's seedlings becomes soooo weak when am about to transplant them.
