I bypass the heating. I just add about a quarter of a bar of soap, grated, to an soap dispenser bottle, filled about 3/4 with water, shake vigorously, and let set. After bubbles subside, I shake again. I repeat this till the soap is dissolved and incorporated with the water. Takes only about 2 days in all.
Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for! Heating soap is horrible to breathe for me & it's been difficult finding any info on NOT heating to rebatch etc.
Thank you so much for this ! I use Dove 🕊 soap on my face and they used to have a liquid Baby Dove for sensitive skin with the Exact same short fragrance free ingredients list as the bar. Then they changed the baby dove to add lavender. They made a Dove Liquid for adult sensitive skin but it includes hydrogenated soybean oil and fragrance. So I was back to using he bar again which is messy and germy. This is exactly what I was looking for to customize my on soap since these stupid companies can’t keep a formula.
I use bar soap for showering. I always end up with a very thin/small remnant of the bar that I found useless and would cast aside and open a new bar. Not anymore. Thanks for sharing this.
How much water would you put in for the left over soap bars? I have some decent size peices I want to do this with but don't want to mess up by adding too much water..
@@kelliecoddington5460 I would guesstimate how many bars you have in leftovers and add the appropriate amount. If you like thicker soap add a little less. If you add to much just add more leftovers to achieve what you are looking for.
Do you need a preservative? I’ve watched a lot of videos like this and a lot of people seem to say it goes bad quickly once turned into liquid soap. How quickly does the soap go bad?
Yup a broad spectrum preservative is best. I use optiphem in my homemade liquid soap. And yea every organic and water based home created product does have a short life if not preserved accordingly.
I've been using home made body wash made from Dove soap for a few years, n I never added anything other the grated soap n water. It has never gone bad on me yet. I live in a tropical area of my country.
Works Great! I make my own bar soap and wanted to turn some of it liquid. Recipe 115 grams shredded soap and 500 grams water. Edit: My homemade soap was too turned to liquid got too thick which in my opinion was a good thing which means to me it just needs more water. It is possible that this recipe is contingent on ambient room temperature. For example if it were summer and 85* in the house your soap might be more runny than if it were winter and 65^. With that said I think a better recipe is 100 grams soap to 500 grams water.
Thanks for the measurements. I wanted something a little thicker and more of a jelly texture, so I used less water which worked out great. At 77F in my house, it cooled to a thick jelly texture that I could scoop out of the jar to use which was great for me. I wanted that instead of actual liquid soap. But yes, more or less water will fix the texture. I also added some glycerine to increase the moisturizing properties of the soap.
@@sowmyadey4571 if you're just using it as a hand soap to wash your hands, you can pretty much use whatever soap you like. If you're going to use it on your face, I would recommend ensuring that it's a soap that's suitable for your face and won't strip it too much. That's why Dove bar soap is recommended so much. It's very gentle and safe on hands and face.
I tried heating a bathing soap on a double boiler, but even after an hour of heating nothing happened to the grated bar soap..then I added some hot water to dissolved it... got dissolved but after cooling down it turned out to become a non dispensable slimy thick paste.. I kept on adding water to dissolve it and that small bar soap has become half a bucket of semi liquid bullshit😑..suggest me how to liquify soaps like santroor to use it as a liquid soap.
@fixitsamo how do you keep your soap a liquid? Mine will firm up jelly-like. Someone said maybe ambient temp causes it to firm up. I usually keep my home at about 69 degrees Fahrenheit. May I ask how cool or warm you keep your ambient temp at? Just trying to figure out if that is indeed the issue for me.
Coconut oil. You need an animal or a vegetable base oil. In food they say corn syrup. I was wondering the same thing. I am going to try baby oil to see if that works.
When making soap or liquid soap all who show how to do it, never mention a room temperature. Soap contains oils and oils become solid even when just pure in a bottle, in the refrigerator. Olive oil is longer fluid than cocos oil. Cocos oil becomes fluid at +24 Celsius. I do not know what the oils are in the soap that is used in the video. You used factually even more water than was used in the video, so it should be even more liquid. In the video is used: soap yields 113 gram and 16 flued ounces water = 454 gram water, which makes a ratio of 1:4 Therefore again: check the ingredients of the soap bar that you used, and the room temperature. Maybe you could test this, with much more water (found this on the Remix Plastic website "Make Liquid Soap from Soap Bars", here 1,9 liter (!!) of water has been used, and just 80 grams soap scraps (33 gram lesser than in the video above): Put 80 grams of soap scraps into a heat resistant bowl. Pour over 8 cups of boiling water. Whisk until the soap has dissolved. Cover and let sit for 24 hours. Remove cover and blend to mix in. Pour into your pump container and use! (Obviously this makes more than one pump container worth of soap so store the rest in a larger container and top up as required). There is also a video available on the webpage.
every 113 grams of barsoap you need 2 cups of water just less the 2 cups of water a little bit then X in 4 (8 cups)but if you look closer the finish product looks like a milky shampoo so in my opinion the 8 cups water is OK for good consistency
when the liquid soap cools it turns into jello consistency; when I reheat it turns into liquid but when it cools turns back to jello; what should I do? please reply, thanks... :)
Try to use immersion blender or put the cold jello in a mixer and mix it. It should break up the jello and it shouldn’t gain the jello consistency again. Let me know!
@@tomeksoncom well i'd have to liquify it again because I put the liquid soap in a regular jar container and a pump container... it solidified into gel...
Maybe prior to using it set the container in a bowl of hot maybe shake the bottle to every chance you think about it when you are in the bathroom for anything.

Precise and quiet! Many thanks for sharing!
Tks. I like the simplicity of it. I blend the mixture while it is warm so that it really turn into liquid.
i feel like this doesn't get enough hype! i made soup for 2 months for 40 p. Buying a liquid soap is essentially paying for water. 😄
Do the soap and the water get separated after a while ??
It shouldnt if you mix it well but if it does seperate just mix/stir it before refilling your container@user-xs6jd8ml8r

Absolutely AWESOME.... Thank you so much for this video! X
It would be more sensible to grate the soap onto a plate or bowl on a flat surface...
Can I use spring water?
Thank you, it's nearly impossible to find liquid hand soap without strong fragrance. Dove unscented is perfect.
Cool, love it. I once watch small batch of clothes in the washer with it. Worked great and smelt divine. Thanks 🤗
Tq. I want to try to make liquid soap 👍
Can this soap be used as a body wash? Do you respond to any questions?
Yes I use it on my body and it leaves a pleasant scent (I used dove beauty bar) and I added a little bit of coconut oil
Hi! I loved your video! The after product looked a bit thick. What if I use maybe a half cup more? Do you think it’ll be too watery?
Thank you 😊 Yes you can use more water to reach the desired consistency but make sure it's not too runny.
Is glycerine a must to make it thick?
Glycerine is a moisturising agent, so that it will add moisture to the soap and make it less drying and stripping on your hands.

Does this work with bar shampoo and conditioner too or no?

Yes Zote is a laundry bar soap from Mexico.@bettymacallister3475
we ordered 14 bars of soapy dove soap with all the preservatives and bad shit your talking about and im gonna liquify them lol will it still work?
Good idea
Can you use this for bathing.??

Sounds like something easy to do . Thou I have a question why leave it for 24 hrs?
The soap thickens into a semi solid after 6 hours but should relax back into a plasma after 24 hours.
Such a neat video!
I tried that before and it just turned into a thick gel, not a liquid soap.
Where should i use this?? For hands??
Why do I have to use distilled water?
How much glycerin do you use?

Did you end up using the glycerin?? Is it a must?
No.
