Honestly, Thank you. You may not get many views or subs, but the work you do is so helpful for us who try to give our players an immersive world
Thank you for watching!
Your guides are helpful, but your entire tutorial was very quiet overall. The outro was much louder. May want check your audio levels for your next video. :)
The outro? É um forasteiro que eu ouço? Lel português detectado
@@arturliebl7248 That happens as vezes if you're a little distracted...
Brilliant, honestly wouldn't mind a full-length video of the Wondercraft build.
Thanks for doing this video. I used these techniques to make my city map for my novel... So glad I subscribed to your channel, it's very helpful.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! There's more wonderdraft content on the way, so I hope you enjoy that too!
@@IcarusGames Thanks for making these videos. They're great. Check out my map here: i.redd.it/3a2ifqard7z31.png
Great video! I had created my own little walled city, but it was very rough, so I am in the process of using the methods you showed to convert it over to how you did it.
Glad you found the video useful!
Amazing! this is a great end result I can totally see myself achieving! thank you!
Slow down! I am trying to take notes! You come up with ideas that have never occurred to me. Thank you again.
You're a hero, even though it's very long to make, this is exactly the style I want for my city, I will try it and maybe, just maybe won't go crazy
This is beautiful, good job !
Thanks! It was certainly a labour of love, but I think it was worth it.
Where has this set of over 500 city map assets gone? I cannot seem to find them anywhere.
I think I found a new hobby. Thank you for this. I rather create my own city or country rather than use preexisting maps. I have an imagination.
Thank you for your guides, they have helped me so much
Thank you for sharing this, this video as very useful, but the audio as rather quiet.
I love your videos! Should have discovered this earlier. Inkarnate has been a burden to work with :P
Welcome to the fold! Glad you've found the videos useful.
Just thank you; this is fantastic.
Great job man!
opacity doesnt seem to work for me?!
Idk if this option wasn't there when you made this video, but covering a whole canvas in land is tedious and unnecessary: you can just go to Land, open the Landmass Wizard option (first option) and it has a nifty Invert button that turns everything that is water into land and vice versa, so you can fill the canvas with just two clicks instead of brushing it all up ^^
I'd never seen that option before, but that is a very handy tip!
Neat bit of software, and an informative video. Your audio was on the fritz in this vid though, constantly cutting and becoming a lot softer. Not sure if that's a youtube like upload type issue, or an editing thing, but figured I'd mention it.
The audio seemed ok when I was editing and watched it back after. I'll check the UA-cam audio this evening.
How are you coloring your assets (buildings) without messing up the ground color you've already put down? Did you put the buildings on a different layer, or did you do something else? Thanks for these videos!
When you choose the paintbrush tool, you can toggle what assets you want to color on the right side of the screen and choose to only color symbols.
Your tutorial are fantastic
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I problem I cant figure out is how to rotate the buildings, its not as easy as in the new Dungeondraft tool?
Is there a specific command to do it?
The "," and "." rotate, and the "/" resets orientation!
For some reason, I am unable to color my assets in the map I have made. I used the same asset pack you have, so I'm not entirely sure what I could be doing wrong. What did you do to color the assets?
I agree with Mackinz92 about the audio levels in the video.
useful tutorial, thank you
Glad you found it useful!
Why do I not have 'The Drafting Table' set in my symbols section? I have 1.0.4 which is more recent than this video. But I can't see any of those top-down buildings that you've used. Any suggestions?
Drafting table is a 3rd party creator who makes asset packs, that's why. If you head cartographyassets.com you should find it (and more) on there.
@@IcarusGames Thank you so much! What was the name of the particular asset pack you used for those buildings.
@@mrcarroll1386 You can find it here: www.cartographyassets.com/assets/summer-battlemap-elements.103/
why dont I see a habor? the River is an important part of the economie
How did you generate the city? I can't hear clearly when you talk about it. The CC says "wood savvy" and "wataru" but I'm not sure that's correct. I am looking for a way to get a city map to build from like you have.
I used the watabou city generator.
Wonderful channel
Are you using some kind of shortcut key for rotating the assets??? I find using the slider bar a real pain sometimes....
Yes! The . And , keys rotate and / resets the orientation.
@@IcarusGames OMG! Thank you! Wait a time saver!!!
how do you color the houses, it won't let me unless i paint the land beneath it, which ruins the area surrounding it?
When using the paintbrush tool, there is a filter on the right side to choose which elements you wish to color. Make it so only "symbols" are checked and you won't paint the ground anymore.
When you have downloaded these asset packs where exactly should i be extracting them in order for them to show up inside my wonderdraft program - when i load the program they are no where to be found any help is much appreciated, thank you!
I've done a video tutorial showing you how to it it all :) ua-cam.com/video/bjzqCWMNauQ/v-deo.html
@@IcarusGames TY VERY MUCH!!!
Hi, a question. Can these maps made with Wonderdraft exported to a game or any other software for further development. For instance, can I use a map developed on Wonderdraft on Unreal Engine 4 if I have to use this map on a game built on UE4? What I want is to use the map created here on UE4. Thanks
Wonderdraft makes 2d maps, I don't believe they can be used in UE.
@@IcarusGames Thanks for the reply mate, so where can I make a 3d map model and export to UE4
Having troubles with the rasterization part myself, can't seem to figure it out :(
This video and it's comments should help; ua-cam.com/video/Kp_setc0EBM/v-deo.html
Aside from the Cartography Assets website, are there other sources for assets you would recommend that could supplement Wonderdraft's limited libraries?
There's nowhere as centralized. The Wonderdraft subreddit will have some that aren't on CA, but as far as I'm aware it's individual artist's pages beyond that.
@@IcarusGames Cheers for the info. Keep up the good work :)
Awesome map! So these links are packs that can for sure be used with Wonderdraft?
Yep, I use them in Wonderdraft in this video.
@@IcarusGames very cool. Is there a cost to download them?
That's it. I'm subbing.
Welcome to the fold!
@@IcarusGames Thanks! i've been thoroughly impressed with your videos so far. One question though, if you've got the time to answer; Do you have any tips for drawing floor plans for castles and mansions? In a semi- similar style to the Source books.
Dungeonfog is good for doing floorplans and battle maps. I did a review here: ua-cam.com/video/YABUDzdKi1c/v-deo.html
Dungeon painter studio also does the same thing.
I can barely hear you. Thanks for the vid though!
How in the blue hell did you color your house assests?!?! I cannot find anything in your videos and here i can't see what tool you used!
Nevermind I found it in the comments, might be helpful to put an annotation in your video at that part
Nice :D
i have 2 question, how i can rotate and how i can color the symbol??
Rotate using the . And , keys, and to colour symbols you'll need to go to the folder where they are located, find the .txt file, and make sure they all have "sample_colour" entered.
I don’t know if I missed it some where, but what is the hot key you were using to rotate? I hate having to drag the slider every time.
The . And , keys. / Resets to the original orientation I believe.
@@IcarusGames Thank you!
wonderdraft how to download
Could you help
I am running into an issue where I seem to be unable to paint the houses (using the same house symbols). Any suggestions?
Chances are you need to edit the text file that should be in the folder with the assets. This video shows you how: ua-cam.com/video/bjzqCWMNauQ/v-deo.html
welp i couldn't do the photoshop part, so i couldn't do the map part either
Or use inkarnate. You get 3D objects (payable option), many objects (different types of houses, objects, creatures, features, nature), easy to use, and you make a city in less than an hour.
Can this program display real US states or world countries, showing all their county divisions - with their names already shown?
Not as standard, now. You could build such a map, but the program is for drawing maps, it doesn't come with any preloaded.
So there's no way to make a city map yourself, placing individual assets? Really, all that's needed would be a wall tool that functions similarly to the road tool, except with fully straight lines. This is the only area where Wonderdraft currently does not really do what I want it to do, which is a shame.
how did you get your paths so straight? im using the path tool and even with the roughness at 0 they still curve randomly
Between the first and second click is always straight for me, but if I continue the line after the second click it starts to curve.
@@IcarusGames you're right. thank you for the reply. you're amazing, keep up the good work!
Glad to be a help :)
The assets are no longer available via your link, any idea why/what can be supplemented? Those assets were really nice looking, would love to get my hands on them, though.
www.patreon.com/posts/summer-battlemap-25071729 I think this should take you to the right place.
@@IcarusGames ah, thank you for the quick reply. Much appreciated, and for the video to boot, will surely make my maps look a lot better than freehand placing. Cheers.
You're welcome. I've also updated the link to that pack in the description
Would anyone happen to know if someone attempted to create interior areas with this? Dungeons, crypts, tunnels?
Caverns and tunnels could work, I believe there are a couple of themes on cartographyassets.com that would suit.
It's not really built for interiors though. You've got a couple options for that; dungeonfog and dungeon painter studio are both extensive programs, or if you want something simpler you could try dungeon maker sketch.
@@IcarusGames Thank you very much for your response. I will look into those resources.
How did you paint the buildings? I can't find it
In the land tools, select the paint brush, and on the right panel there's checkboxes for land/trees/mountains/symbols. I unchecked everything except symbols.
@@IcarusGames Thanks a lot man!
Where can I get these city assets?
They are by The Drafting Table. You should find them on cartographyassets.com
huh...maybe I overdid it with 16k assets
Please remake this video with better sound. I cranked my volume up to the max and could still barely hear you. Looks useful though.
