    Q) WHY DOES MY MAP EXPORT WITH WHITE LINES AROUND THE WALLS?
    A) This is a known bug. For now, place small objects around the map on the 200 user layer, this will clear the white lines of nearby walls.

      I'm loving Dungeondraft. It's very handy during a 10 minute break when players go off the rails and wind up someplace unplanned and still have a fantastic map.
      Are there any plans to add a directional, ambient light with parallel rays to cast shadows from objects onto the ground or other surfaces? I'm manually adding shadow elements, and it's pretty tedious work...or does this already exist and I'm just missing it?

    If this was already covered and I missed it I apologize but with being able to drag and click assets could that mean I could upload a ton of asset png files I've gotten from other sellers for use in dungeondraft or am I limited to their library only?
    Secondly, if I could get sizing and format down etc this it is possible to print these maps? Assuming I have the option to print it on multiple sheets of paper.

    • @IcarusGames
      @IcarusGames  3 роки тому +1

      It is totally possible to add custom assets to DD. You can either just drag in a PNG to create a linked image that you can then manually reszie and toggle the shadow on, or you can upload entire asset packs. I am actually working on a custom asset tutorial right now.
      If you just drag the image in, dungeondraft embeds the full size image, which makes the map file size absolutely massive. If you import them as an asset pack, it links the images, which keeps the map file size smaller.

    • @IcarusGames
      @IcarusGames  3 роки тому +1

      I just tested a map with a dragged image and it was 50mb (the size of the PNG), the same map with the same asset but imported was 105kb.

    Hi one and all just looking for a small bit of clarification, i have been dming for a while and just starting to make a homebrew came across you in releation to world building maps.
    My question is, we use a different table top gaming system to roll20 does it only export for that or is the export of roll20 just for all these types of software, and does it allow use of fog of war type pc movement where it would be able to be revealed as the pcs move through a dungeon or building during combat?
    Thank you to anyone who puts a response in advance :D

    • @IcarusGames
      @IcarusGames  4 роки тому +1

      So dungeondraft is just a map making program, not a virtual tabletop (VTT) like roll20.
      You make your map in dungeondraft, and export it to use in roll20.
      Dungeondraft has a preset export option for roll20's grid size, but there are also other export presets so you could use the map in Fantasy Grounds, on a TV at the table, or elsewhere.

    Is this program a native compiled binary executable or does it use shockwave/java or some other slow interpreter?
    Dungeon Painter Studio is shockwave based. It really slows down when a lot of objects are on the list. It's also a memory hog because I make large and detailed maps. It's good for what it is, but with large projects it's too slow and takes too much memory.

    • @IcarusGames
      @IcarusGames  4 роки тому

      I don't know what architecture it's built on, but I've never had slowdown problems. I've had multiple crashes as updates and things have come in, but things tend to get fixed pretty quick.

    Can you use the maps made in Dungeondraft and Wonderdraft in video game makers or is this specifically a tool for D&D?

    • @IcarusGames

      One option is to place them on a different layer, and then export two different images. One with only base layer and another with the secret layer blended into the base layer.

    Just went from a 'nice-to-have' to a 'must have' for GMs. When I think of the hours spent in Photoshop to get a look not even nearly as good.

    Hello All, I am using this software to create a map for Traveler "Annic Nova" - and yes i can crate space ship as well :) how ever do you know is there is a easy way to hide par of the map? the idea is that I would like to run the game on a TV screen but I do not want my player to see the all map at first. Thanks all.

      If you're using dungeondraft at the table, you can turn the ambient light all the way down, and then place light sources as the players progress to reveal areas of the map.

    Is there a fog of war option?

    • @IcarusGames
      @IcarusGames  4 роки тому +2

      Not currently. But if you're hooking this up to a TV at the table you can drop the ambient light and use the spot lighting tool to reveal areas you want as you progress.

      The current assets are very sci fi, but custom asset support is coming and there are makers working on other genres.
