- Lets get some better springs in there so we can pop some wheelies. While we are in the wheelie we need some oil. So, we got a straight up pumps oil pump to throw in there. Message me if you want some stickers while they last. Thanks

You make it seem so much easier than 90% of other people do
It’s all really easy other than the clutch springs. For some reason the springs are just a pain, but if you have issues with the springs I have a video trying to help fix the issue as well. Thank you very much for commenting!
Can you add all the parts links in the description? Great vid
should of put the firmer springs where there is a bolt so the unsurpported spade has less stress from the softer stock springs
I realized that I did it wrong after the video. When I rebuilt my clutch again I did it correctly.
Great video, very informative! I'm going to be doing clutch springs and plate today! Thanks for the How-to! I'm going to be making a video on it as well, watch for it!
Thanks! Very informative and good camera angles
Thankyou very much! Glad I could help!
Excellent choice my man :) Highly recommend SUP
Great video, very detailed! 4 thumbs up!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video Bro. I always enjoy your videos.
Thanks man, really appreciate the support
I am a softmore in high school and started saving up to buy a grom and have started to do lots of research into wich mods i should do first and you explain it so well and make it way easier to understand even for a begginer like me. Thank you 👍
Ps can i have a sticker
Having recently done this, I hadn't realized that you don't need to prevent the rear cogwheels from spinning if you use an impact driver to take the oil spinner and lifter plate bolts off. If you try to do it with a wrench, it's pretty much impossible without wedging something in between the cogweel teeth back there. And I'm also still curious about whether or not these things spin (the oil spinner and the clutch basket) when the bike is in gear.
That’s something I wud do. Cracked me up
L
best vid for this mod👍🏼
Hello. WOW I'm the first to comment... I like the idea of swapping the springs.
Yea, it’s a huge difference for wheelies 👌🏻
It’s probably been said but after removing case cover bolts, simply pull clutch to separate cover. It will push it off.
Interesting. Do you mean the clutch lever on the left handlebar?
@@jbean530 Yep. It will push on and separate the cover for you after you remove the bolts.
Don’t forget your oil spinner plate
Great video. Why do you change the clutch springs?
Great video! Does it affect normal riding?
HAHA! Hate getting to the end and noticing an extra part..
Weight reduction?
What gasket do you use to put the case back together. Also what springs did you use
What head bolt do you use to check if oil is going to top end?
i did something dumb a few days ago, replaced the forks seals and new oil to wonder if i did fit the seal right way around, had to strip the forks down and rebuild them again...yes the seal was fitted correctly first time...
The crap that happens when working on bikes 🤷🏻♂️
😂 Hi, my name is Walker and I'm the "professional" lol
“Professional”
So if u put the stronger springs on the ear with the bolt would it have less of a tendency to crack? Since the bolt and washer maybe would be a little bit of support?
Yeah, I realized that after I had already installed and closed everything back up
Since I have installed the modded oil pump, the oil got very foamy. I guess the pump is sucking some air while riding wheelies which is causing the foam. Is this supposed to be like that? Is there something you can recommend me doing to prevent this?
I put my SUP in last night, I want another sticker!
Awesome! Message me on Instagram! Thanks 👍🏻
Great video, One question, how does a stiffer clutch help with a wheelie?
More pop to get it up easier
Love the video thanks also do you have any stickers left
Yea. I have plenty of stickers left. They are 3 for $5. Just message me on facebook or Instagram 👌🏻
@gromgarage Are these springs any stiffer than stock Honda grom springs ? And if so by how much percent?
Why did you use hayabusa springs rather then buy the 60% stiffer springs?
Is all of this done with the bike in gear or in neutral? Does it matter if its in gear or not? I've watched at least 10 videos and none of them say.
Probably should have put the busa springs where the bolts are on the pressure plate.
Yea, I thought about this later believe it or not
Grom Garage keep up the great videos!
harleycrx same thing I was thinking bro...good catch..! Lol
harleycrx I mean...makes total sense...
i got 3 red springs and 3 blue springs so how do they go?
How important is that clutch plate if your re-using stock springs? My clutch kit came with what I assume are stock springs but they call it a heavy duty clutch kit.
For stock springs it's not as a big deal. But if you're already in there you might as well upgrade to a billet one so its less likely to fail
Haha i forgot that metal thing as well when i cleaned the oil spinner
Hey did you reuse the 2 little pins from the stock oil pump to put it back in?
It’s been a while, from what I remember I did have to transfer the pins for the new high flow pump. For a oem from straight up pumps I think it comes with it all. But I could be wrong 🤷🏻♂️
ik im extremely late but where did you get these parts
Does it matter where the OEM springs go vs new Heavy duty springs? What would you recommend? Putting the HD on the bolts?
I recommend putting the hd springs where the bolts are. Doesn’t matter... just in thought it sounds like it would be less likely to crack under the pressure with a bolt surrounding it
Grom Garage thanks for the quick reply! Keep up the good work
Very confused by your dipstick position! Is it a different clutch case cover?
No it’s stock, maybe it’s different for some year models 🤷🏻♂️
Will it do anything if u put all the heavy duty springs with the new clutch plate lmk
It will just be stiffer
hello i have a question about the oil pump !!! The little bronze pipe on the pump oil this is you to make it this part ? because i dont find the pump whit this part !!! if the pipe come whit the pump you can send me a quick web link where i can buy it !! thx bye good video !!
The copper tube comes attached to the pump. You can buy the pump from Straight Up Pumps online though their facebook.
You can also send your pump to them and they will install the copper tube if you wanted to save a couple bucks. I just recommend buying a new pump from them though
Love the video 👍🏾where can I find this oil pump?
You can get it from straight up pumps on their facebook page 👌🏻
Grom Garage thanks. What’s the benefits of having stronger springs?
What foot pegs where those on the grom
Parts list?
Im just curious, after a year an issues with the pump, problems from braking or long downhill stuff?
No problems at all, and I beat up real bad on my bike
So where can I get the busa springs individually ? If I may know plz (:
I would talk to your local motorcycle shop and see if they can order them for your
can you explain what the issue was when bleeding the brakes? I just want to know because im coming up on 2 years of ownership and was advised it should be replaced every 2 years with new fluid. tHanks!
The problem I was having with it was because I started off with brand new calipers, I actually noticed I posted the videos out of order so I apologize. We have a video on our channel showing how to bleed brakes 👌🏻
Brake fluid gets moisture in it and should be flushed approximately every two years. Its literally a 10 minute job.
Do you have to prime the oil pump before you put it on?
I like to crank the bike with the spark plug unplugged to help prime it. But it's not 100% needed.
What year grom are you putting the straight up pump on and does it matter what year you put it on. Am I allowed to put it on a 2018 or only a 2019 because I’ve only seen people put it on 2019’s
All the straight up pumps fit every year grom. From OG to current.
Ok. Thank you very much
how did you remove and install the drive gear ?
Castle nut tool and impact gun
What is the difference between the kitaco and takagawa oil pump?
No idea. Probably just name
I WANT A STICKERRR
you ever get any weird vibration from downshifting ?
No, not at all
Do you ever get nervous
Don’t forget to prime the pump before you put it on?
Correct, my apologies, I thought I went over that but I guess not
If you did I must of missed it! Im not taking shots at you or anything, it was a general question because I thought I did see that you had to prime it, So I wanted to see how you actually primed it so I didn’t do it wrong my self
Did you buy that pump with copper line online or did you fabricate this?
It comes with the copper pipe
Does this new oil pump now cause starvation with long stoppies?
I guess it could but I’m no stoppie master, so I wouldn’t know
Would have to be a long ass stoppie to even have a chance to cause damage
Silly question but does changing the springs cause any long term damage to clutch!
Not at all
Grom Garage thanks I got my pump and spring yesterday but my ECU is at DHM getting reflashed so I’m going to taking this project this weekend gonna watch you video afew Times so I don’t mess it up lol
@@Tac.Outdoors what springs did you use. I’m lookin to get some but idk what ones I need for 60% springs
What wheel chock is that?
Harbor Freight, it's about $60. Absolute must have with this lift
Are you running the stock clutch?
Stock clutch, different springs and rpm plate though. I have videos on my channel going over everything
A very important part of this video would’ve been showing us how you took off that piece out on the oil pump. You said you had a special tool for it but you never showed us how you took it off the old one and put it on the new one.
So I just got all Suzuki springs will it matter if I do all 6
It will just be a bit harder to pull the lever in, but you should get more pop
Do u have a link for the springs and plate??
I gave you the part number for the springs. The plate you can get from multiple places. Just please look it up, I can’t keep all these links up to date
if brian 636 dont need a oil mod i really cant see how anyone needs it. xD
That’s what I’m trying to figure out if I should do the mod or not I just got a grom and don’t wanna blow it the first time I do a long wheelie
I personally think it's stupid to not do the oil mod.... Especially if you're doing long wheelies
what company did you get your oil pump from???
StaightUp Pumps
@@GromGarage thank you sir....
where i can find this oil pump thank you!
www.ebay.com/itm/154563721593?hash=item23fcb73979:g:pJMAAOSwyZZcw89~
Is this compatible with new 2021 Honda Grom? Thanks
I don't believe so. Since it is brand new and I've never actually worked on one
@@GromGarage thanks 😊
how much did these parts cost?
IDK... Look it up
I love how he talks about wheelies but shows a stoppie with his hands 😂
No, he was showing you the position of the OIL during a wheelie, not the position of the bike. Visualize and you will get it.
Stickers?
Yea man, just shoot me a message on Instagram for you address and sticker color choice and I’ll send it out 👌🏻
I want a sticker!! Please!!
Awesome! Shoot me a message on Instagram so I can get your info 👌🏻
Watched your ads
Thanks lol
3 busa springs doesnt work at all. Just fyi people. Buy 6 busa springs you will be good.
It works fine, I have met countless people now with that setup and it works great 🤷🏻♂️
Barely better than stock. I put 6 in there and its a noticable difference just fyi.
I can promise you that there are so many people that do it in my local grom group and they could tell a huge difference. Maybe yours was just different than most or something. I don’t know, just surprised you would say it doesn’t work...
😆😆
Parts link?
Google it 😏
That’s helpful
