"Not bad for a h-human." Actually, it's pretty dope, dude! I'm about 20 minutes in and loving it. It's just the sort of smooth wave of sound I slooshy well, my droog. Keep it coming!
Thanks bro :) I'm still getting settled in the new place. It's been great so far, but haven't had nearly enough time for music. I'm working with a much smaller setup right now and it's definitely a challenge. However, I'm now multitracking which gives me makes mixing 10x easier, lol.
Currently sitting outside on a chair I found on the side of the road and watching over the streets of my neighborhood. People in my area often put old furniture on the street so other people can grab it before it gets salvaged. It's very chill, when I look up I see the starless sky behind the leaves of the trees around me. Occasionally people with dogs doing their last round for the day or cars pass by. I just started producing music myself and dream of one day matching my skill level to my expectations. This is very inspiring because i find it to have a very distinct character from other dub I've heared. Do you mind sharing a bit of the production process behind this one? Did you use hardware synths? Did you use pre recorded elements? I usually listen to hypnotic/groove/hard techno and ambient and occasionally put on dub techno to study but find these tracks very engaging. Certainly something I've never heard before. Thank you!
Thank you for the amazing reply. I use to live in San Francisco and I would do EXACTLY what you are doing right now. It was so chill and relaxing. This particular album was a collection of live recordings from a modular synthesizer. Everything was recorded straight from the synth. The album lacks the polish of being produced in a DAW but it was extremely fun to make because it was the pure expression of improvising music. I'm designing another patch for my modular synth to make a similar album like this in the future. Cheers
I don’t mind at all ;) The pads on this album were made with an Acid Rain Chainsaw which is a 3 voiced digital oscillator with controls to make it sound more analog-ish. I also added a sine wave from a sampler as the fourth note in the chords. All the notes had subtle modulations and were routed through 3-4 analog modules to make them sound more alive and analog-ish.
@@JamesFredrickson wow, that's awesome! thanks for your generosity! I'm not into modular, I wonder if there's some stand alone box that could create sounds and textures like that...

Initiate thanking sequence... Seriously tho, thanks for the killer cover art. It's such a dope photo. I look forward to seeing the painting!
Amazing work James

Hey James, hope you don't mind...love those background pads at around 14:00 - how did you create those? they sound like an analog synth to me?
They are more upfront around 15:40

@@cadetesespaciales The Electron boxes could easily recreate similar sounds and textures. They are very powerful and versatile music making machines.
