- » RimWorld Biotech Doomsday Vault is a vanilla RimWorld version 1.4 series highlighting the new Biotech DLC. Doomsday Vault about a family of settlers who purchased a one way ticket to a new world, only to arrive at an apocalyptic wasteland. Their only choice is to build an underground homestead where they'll be protected from the polluted and toxic atmosphere as well as the marauding bands of wasters. Without the means to buy passage to another world they're settling to start families and make the best of a bad situation.

Glad I found your channel. Trick I know for planning mountain builds, if you draft a melee pawn and click their weapon, you can drag the target cursor around the unmined mountain: the weapon will show where it's mountain and the unable to attack symbol will show in areas where there's open space even if it hasn't been revealed yet.

As a personal preference in my mountain bases, I like to run a 3x3 corridor around the exterior of my base that joins into the top of the killbox
It adds a whole lot of mobility to my pawns and also occasionally funnels the stray breacher or sapper to somewhere easier to deal with

You know with the DLC you wouldn't need much in the way of mods to make a pretty convincing Fallout themed thing (like full in universe style like the Mass Effect series). Just slap in some creatures, weapons, and maybe a reskin to the mechanoids to be more like the RobCo stuff and your pretty set.
I am aware, but also this is going to be a vanilla series. Its not a *FALLOUT* series, just inspired.

@@Rhadamant Oof, no, no sarcasm. You've blessed us with many a series revolving around vaults. But when I go through the respective mod lists, I don't find anything that says 'Fallout' (or has the aesthetics in-game). Was it 'Tomb world', radioactive wasteland? This is the most Fallout I could find. I was looking specifically for, you know, vault suits, stimpacks, deathclaws, blue and yellow and the like... And *that* I've either missed, or couldn't find. Hope I didn't rub you the wrong way. That was not my intention.
@@Robert-qr8co We're building a multi-generational vault full of vaulters with the planet looking like the Capital Wasteland full of ghouls. If you wanted more 'Fallout' than vaulters, ghouls and wasteland you'll have to seek out content from a different content creator, sorry.
@@Rhadamant Sheesh. Well, I told you what I was looking for, because you mentioned it in the first episode of this series. So it was just a misunderstanding. You never did a series with the Fallout mod (I don't recall its actual name). And I don't blame you. To the contrary, as I expressed in other comments, I very much appreciate your, let's be real, one-of-a-kind content. This series kinda focuses on the developments before leaving a vault (not quite, but I hope you get the point). I thought I heard you talking about a series in which 'the lone survivor' sets out to conquer and colonize the Fallout wasteland. This was not me talking down on this series, this was me getting overexcited because I love the Fallout universe. I thank you for your patience to answer my questions, my man.
Hey so you didn't mention it in here but I'm curoous, what size is the map tile? 300? I'm assuming mountain terrain. How long did you search for a workable tile layout? I always get these weird scraggly mountains all over that are often too close to the map edge and I'm just wondering how you avoided that. I admit, I only got Rimworld recently (because of this exact series, in fact!) so I don't 100% understand how everything works. I just really want to play Vault Tec (potentially-unethical human experimentation tbd at this time)
I almost always play 300x300 unless the series calls for something different. Larger than that becomes very cumbersome to haul and mine, smaller can get cramped for larger colonies.

Often if you pick mountain tiles that are next to impassible tiles you'll end up with a lot more mountain
6 people aren't enough to prevent inbreeding at least in reality. This game makes the Habsburgsers completely viable 😅😁
The goal is to just have 3 generations and then return to space. I can easily do that with no inbreeding.

So it wasn't stated in the rules or anything, but will you be modifying your genes to add tox resist/immune, or will it be limited to bionics and equipment?
Cause you can selectively change your genes without getting all the ones the wasters have. So you could avoid becoming like them, while still becoming safe to the toxins.
Both are allowed, but given that we don't keep prisoners to scan genes unless an orbital trader sells us the genes we'd need it would be resolved with bionics.
I've already put out a tutorial about genetics on UA-cam, so you can save yourself the effort of explaining gene scanning or xenogerm implantation.
Is there a way for us to download the save and play along?

how did you alter the pawns? EDB is still only for 1.3 and every random pawn roll I get has3 passions, 2 flaws and 1 positive trait unless it is 100 years old and comes pre hooked on space meth...

@@Rhadamant I like to think if used right, it is more about you adapting to your environment and dynamically evolving your beliefs based on experiences, and far less meta gamey then building towards it from the start since you have to earn the points. As long as you stick to what RPly works.
But, I respect the choice.
@@SioxGreyWolf I can understand your viewpoint, or settlers are subjected to a very unknown circumstance so it would make sense they'd adapt over time. The issue I have with fluid ideology is I feel the rituals detract from the story as they often feel ... canned and hokey and the other primary way to gain points is forced conversion and slaves.

are you sure the roof is 11 i think is 12 in meanging you can get walls 13 wide
13 wide will collapse with a hole in the middle. Roof tiles can be held up 6 in any direction, 13 is too far. If you want an odd number for symmetry 11 is max

I think in this case its pretty clear I'm talking about the ghoulish and aggressive wasters. They always have dark ashen colored skin and hair and have genetic aggression. I wasn't trying to make a racist commentary and I think pretty much every one of my viewers knew that.

None of the mods change gameplay at all, they're user interface only. The gameplay itself is totally vanilla.
